On our last pick up, my dog actually tried to run back with them after greeting us. They also have fair prices and don't nickel and dime you like some other places. I can't recommend them enough!

When we dropped them off, Theo (our Labradoodle) had a cut on the end of his back from trying to crawl under our house and scraped it against the concrete. We weren't worried about it since we had been putting Neosporin on it and he couldn't reach it so it wasn't being messed with. The employee there mentioned they had a spray they could use on it and my husband said that would be fine to use it if they wanted. When we got back from our trip, Aaron went to go pick up the dogs. Once he got there, the employee said, "I don't want you to be shocked so I'll tell you now but...all the hair on Theo's back has fallen out." 1st problem: our dogs hair fell out...and we weren't contacted. Sure enough, his whole back was bare and there were some sore spots on his back that you could tell hurt him to touch. We took him to the vet, spent hundreds of dollars running tests and taking skin samples and trying to figure out what could've happened. All the vets and nurses were totally baffled and frustrated alongside us. The vet gave us a call later saying his bloodwork came back fine but the best they could all figure was that it was a chemical burn...they suggested maybe he rolled in cleaning products or something and I needed to figure out what products Irmo Pet Retreat uses. 2nd problem: Our dog lost all hair on his back and has sores from chemical burns...and we weren't contacted. I'll try to attach the screenshots of the email I sent to irmo pet retreat and their response and photos of Theo's poor back/sores. I'm honestly confused and just don't know how to proceed. It would be one thing if an accident happened and then they contacted us...but it's another thing that this happened in their care, and very alarming that they didn't contact us with his significant hair loss. He could've had several things wrong with him and definitely would've needed to be taken to the vet. SO. Seems very shady and anywho, we're pretty disappointed to say the least.

I approved all recommended testing in hopes of getting answers and ensuring he received the care he needed. After the testing was completed, I was informed that his bloodwork was "immaculate" aside from an elevated white blood cell count, and medication was prescribed. Unfortunately, once the medication ran out, his condition began to worsen. Last week, I called the office because I was concerned that my dog's health was declining and wanted to speak with a veterinarian. I was originally told by the veterinarian we saw to call if there were any concerns. However, when I contacted the office, I was informed that she was on vacation. I requested a call from any veterinarian in the practice due to the urgency of the situation, but I was told I would need to wait until that specific veterinarian returned. As a concerned pet owner, I found this response extremely disappointing. When a patient's condition is worsening, there should be a process in place for another veterinarian to review the case and provide guidance. Due to the lack of communication and support, I made the decision to transfer my dog to another veterinary facility. My dog is currently receiving care elsewhere and has undergone several hours of additional testing. At this point, his condition has been deemed urgent. While I appreciate the initial efforts made during his visit, I am disappointed by the lack of follow-up and the inability to speak with another veterinarian when I expressed concerns about his declining health. Edit to add; The vet Ace seen, after 6 hours of evaluation, testing and scans. Ace was found to have a large tumor on his kidney. Issues that should've been located May 28th when he was seen by Friarsgate. Friarsgate animal hospital let me down, my children down and my dog

I was told that I would receive follow-up information within three days. However, it has now been more than three weeks, and I have not received any updates. Despite my reaching out to the clinic, I was only told that the doctor would be notified--yet I still have not received a call, email, or any communication. This lack of follow-through is unacceptable, especially when dealing with such a serious and time-sensitive health matter. The uncertainty and lack of updates have caused my family unnecessary stress and has left my cat without the proper care or treatment plan he urgently needs.
