My expectations for this place were high-- several friends were ranting about "Frida's this" and "Frida's that"-- and high expectations can be unfair, but this place delivers... I was immediately struck by the attention to detail. The decor, the ambience, the home made chips and salsa, the cocktails made from fresh fruit. I was blown away before the food even came out. The service was kind and attentive. Happy hour margaritas are superb. If you are looking for boring mexican food, this isn't the place. I had the chicken tinga tostadas, and my wife had the sweet potato tacos. Both were excellent. Pickled onions were on point. The only slight downer (and it wasn't enough to keep from a 5* review) was my wife's mescalita was too sweet. Alas, she switched back to the margarita, and all was well. I will definitely be back, and I will definitely be ranting to my friends about "Frida's this" and "Frida's that". Great addition to the BCS food scene. read more

I decided to give this place a shot for lunch today. Walking in I was kindly greeted by the bartender and server. The very first thing I noticed was how clean everything was, I'm very OCD and this place made my dopamine levels go wild because it was so clean. All the decor and set up is very nicely done. It's a small restaurant but big enough to not feel like you're packed in there or sitting on top of other people. Irene was my server. She could tell I wasn't sure what to order and quickly jumped in telling me what was good and things I should try, explaining everything in detail to me without me even having to ask. The drinks are strong which is something we all hope for. The service is great as well. My servers made great recommendations and frequently ensured that we had everything. The restaurant itself has such a fun atmosphere and pays a lovely homage to Frida with the bright colors and artwork. Even the servers add to the theme by wearing flower crowns/headbands. The only reason I rated Frida's 4/5 was karaoke night. The space doesn't allow for intimate conversations while that's going on. It felt like I was sitting with the speaker directly in my ear. Wow!! so glad I found this place on yelp. Don't let the location fool you. Walk inside and interior is very pretty! Were seated immediately and our server greeted us quickly. Homemade Chips and Dip all very good! Apparently you can buy the chips next door. We had 3 appetizers...Elote Corn, guacamole with pork rinds and ceviche. They were amazing...we ate every bit of them. Next for dinner we all ordered something different so we could try each other dishes. Carnitas, best I have had. Birra tacos..so tasty. Chicken enchiladas, they give you 4 of them omg. And Barbacoa, super tasty and they give you a ton. We left with some yummy leftovers. This is now my favorite place in Bryan. We went to Fridas kitchen on a Sunday afternoon. The place was busy but we were greeted & sat promptly by staff. First impression the restaurant is nicely designed and decorated with bright colors and beautiful art work, some from artist Frida Kahlo, for which the place is named. Upon being sat we were greeted by a couple different staff before our server came. Tostado and salsas served instantly. I ordered a margarita on the rocks with salt, see pic. Very fresh & pleasant, not from some premade mix bottle that you get at most places. I could taste all of the ingredients in the cocktail!! I ordered the birria taco, my wife had veggie tacos. To be honest, this was my first experience having birria tacos, and I have fallen in love. Three tacos made with two corn tortillas lightly fried, NOT GREASY!! The consume has deep beef flavor, slightly salty but that's ok. I like food that is straight to the point, not covered with a bunch of sauces or flair, and this didn't disappoint. My wife enjoyed her meal as much as I did. We took a carrot cake & Jamaica agua Fresca togo. The carrot cake was moist and nicely spiced. The agua Fresca was perfect for the hot day that we left for. Overall, we will definitely be returning to Fridas for authentic Mexican food. This place is not Tex-Mex so keep that in mind. I'm super excited to try the mole!! read more
