The ambiance at this place is great. I meet a group of people here on Fridays at 5pm. We drink and chat and it's wonderful. Now the drinks here are not the strongest, although they do two drinks well, which are the Manhattan and a Old Fashioned. But most cocktails are pretty weak. They do have a nice selection of beer and I suggest drinking a SnakeBite which is Guiness mixed with a cider. The restraunt next door is connected and serves food to the bar as well. I haven't tried the food, as I am a pescatarian and haven't seen anything that interest me on the menu. Its German food I think. read more

Went for my friend's 25th birthday and bachelorette party, the bartender took her ID to the back and told us he can't serve us because it's OBVIOUSLY fake. I get it, you're trying to do your job and if you think it's fake (it was a 100% real Texas drivers license) you don't have to serve someone, but he had a serious attitude problem and was super rude to my friend on her birthday. Get a better method to check IDs and an attitude adjustment for your power tripping bar tender. I would not come back or recommend this place to anyone. Sucks, because we would have spent a lot of money there! read more

Went on a Monday night- great prices for drinks, the food smelled amazing as we were right by the kitchen- but we didn't end up eating. We were able to hang out and play games so it was a lot of fun! I'd definitely recommend it. We ended up being there during trivia night but unfortunately it started a little too late for us to participate due to how long it is. I have given this place more chances than I should have. Only because I had friend who waitresses here. THE ONLY TIME I RECEIVED ACTUAL SERVICE. It has been over a year, and my friend no longer works there. However, last time I really enjoyed the food. So.. I was next door getting my hair done, and I was hungry. Took my daughter in and... we wait.. and wait... It was 1st Friday, but they were not swamped. 1 bartender, as usual.. and 1 other employee. Neither were in any hurry.. Even though there was a line to just get a drink... as usual.. And others trying to get a meal order placed.. Standing in line at the bar... This is just poor management. Great spot in downtown BRYAN. Lean back, relax and you could be in a pub in Ireland. Great bartenders. We asked for a Black and Tan and they asked which beer we wanted on bottom. Bass Ale Please! The wife had an Old Fashion with her choice of whiskey. Outstanding drink. Wednesday night an Irish band practices there. Not a true concert, but they play and talk and play again. Live music upstairs on Saturday nights. Only food we tried was a pretzel with grainy mustard. Great snack option. We will have to go back again and try more food items. There is a door into the German restaurant next door. From looking at both menus, I expect they share a kitchen. Oh, on our trip I doubt there was a college student anywhere in the restaurant. I had come here a little while back on a First Friday and I absolutely loved this place. The band was amazing and it was such a fun time to see a crowded space that seemed so tame at the same time. I really enjoyed the ambience and loved how the set-up of Murphy's Law. They had the band play upstairs and had a small dance floor right by the front. The downstairs area was left as normal. I really enjoyed being able to bring several friends here and everybody was able to find an area that they enjoyed. I didn't try the food or much else, so I cannot comment about that, but the atmosphere I enjoyed and can't wait to come back soon. read more

Wow this place is definitely a new favorite in college station! I'm so used to north gate, fox & hound and the proudest monkey so a change was welcome. We got three rounds of drink for about $15 each round (4 drinks each round). SUCH A STEAL! It included beers and mixed drinks. There was outdoor and indoor seating, tvs, and clean bathrooms. And great service. It wasn't loud and full of college kids either - that itself was a huge perk. I'll definitely be coming back next time I come to town. read more

The restaurant next door is spectacular, that's about the best thing I can say about this bar... The beer is beer. There's sports on Tv. It's a bar like any other, but like any bar, the folks who work there are the difference. The folks who work here are dismissive and abrasive. Well that's not a fair assessment, what I said basically only applies to Capt. Dudebro, Bar Manager. The servers are all nice and attentive. The bar-backs are always crushing it. Even the other bartenders are giving a solid effort, but it all seems irrelevant when you interact with the bar manager/head bartender. He always seems to be more interested in talking about his unironically late-to-the-scene hardcore band than actually serving drinks to anyone other than the 2 people being held hostage by his conversation as they wait on the beers that have already been paid for that are undoubtedly warm by now. Please do me a favor and go here on First Friday specifically to order 3 Gin Fizzes from Mr. "Is this your bar or my bar?" I'm a local, born and raised. Murphy's law is alright. They picked a catchy/clever name when they first opened and decided that would carry them. There is that. But once you go inside (and I have been a few times over the years), it's not so clever. When downtown was being revitalized, some people opened this up and got on that bandwagon. Good timing. But...I don't care for the place. It's loud, usually packed (surprisingly), and hard to get a seat. The clientele are uppity and seem to judge you from when you walk in. The main bartender dude is...a little snot. He thinks he must have the best bar in Bryan (which is a big stretch!). Drink prices are...ok. Maybe the best thing I can say about it. I mean, if you want to just go out and have a pint and move on to somewhere more laid back, then come here. Otherwise, save the trip! Ha! read more

Murphy's Law is my life. What can go wrong, will go wrong, and much worse than I thought. That's my life. But that's not this Murphy's Law. I'm currently sitting here with a friend and a beer. I mean like a human friend AND a beer, not that the beer isn't my friend. Murphy's Law has not had a grand opening yet, but this place is hustling. The menu is Irish fare including beef roast, corned beef and cabbage, Shepard's pie, and apple crumble for dessert. I only got to have some of the apple crumble, and though the chocolate syrup was Hershey's, it was still good. I didn't get to try anything else because the kitchen was closed. Pros of this joint: Reasonable, VERY reasonable prices on beer. I got a pint of Shiner on a Saturday night for $3. Is that cheap or is that cheap? Nice comfy seating. Cushy couches. Lots of tables and chairs. The place is pretty roomy. The decor is nice. Not too loud, not too bland. Just right. Lots of parking available outside. It is Downtown Bryan. All the parking you can want. Little to no undergrads. Lots of over 25 year old customers here. I only saw one person with a Hollister shirt on. Thank the Gods! Free reliable wi-fi. Awesome. Cons: I can't find a plug for my laptop. I'm on the search. Bathrooms are so-so. It was nice and clean, but.........There's no mirror in the women's bathroom. WTF!!?!?!? As far as College Station, Texas goes - this place is not a bad joint to get your party on. The high ceilings a fun environment will definitely ensue a good time, however the service and price point in the drinks deviate from the low-key, small town Texas vibe. $12 for a double vodka water seemed steep and more comparable to a sophisticated New York bar where they require a password for entry. The large, narrow bar was packed with lively music, but the bartenders took their time and couldn't multitask with numerous orders as you would see in other bars. But it was the price of the cocktail that caught my eye. Not even in Dallas do I normally pay that much for a vodka cocktail. Maybe at an establishment where their claim to fame is craft cocktails, but not a college town bar. read more

Let me start by saying that I have never walked out of a restaurant in my life, and if I could give it 0 stars I would. i guess there is always a first for everything. Murphy's Law should be embarrassed and reported to the health code board in Texas. My wife and I attended this restaurant on this past First Fridays in down town Bryan. There was no where to eat so we took a place at the bar. We ordered our food and got our drinks, which tasted OK. I was a little shocked about the lack of real Irish food on their menu (about 3 real items). My wife ordered the fish and chips and I ordered the steak and mushroom stew. After about 35 minutes (!!!) our food finally came out. Now the place was busy, but most everyone was just getting drinks. When our food finally came out my food was actually cold to the touch! (My wife's chips were also cold, but not enough to send them back). Now it took about 20 minutes to get someones attention that there was even something wrong. No one ever came back to see how everything was. When we finally did get someone, they just took my food away without telling me what they were going to do with it or that they were sorry. My wife also asked for some malt vinegar on this visit. We sat there for about 5-10 minutes without vinegar and without anyone telling me what was going on with my food. When they did return I was about to take a bite I noticed that where I took my bite was still there. They didn't remake the dish, they just threw it in the microwave. I know in states I have lived in before that this is a health code violation, and you can serve something that has already been cold. Plus it is rude, just plain rude, I do not want microwaved food. At that point I threw my napkin in my food and walked out. I understand that people might love the atmosphere there, and think it is great, but first off a real Irish pub isn't connected to a German restaurant, 2nd of all there are more than just 3 Irish dishes in the world. A place in Tempe, called the Rula Bula, has 3 pages of Irish faire to choose from. Third, a restaurant should always want to satisfy the customer, not just pacify them. I am never going back to this place, which is a shame, because I really wanted to like this place, but I also want proper food service, even McDonald's replaces your hamburger with a new one if it's bad, so why shouldn't a fine dinning establishment. read more

What a huge and clean pair of bars! From the outside I was nearly under the impression these establishments were closed. Thankfully I checked it out anyway. The woodwork on the Irish side is stunning, with an Irish band practicing on a Tuesday night, and an upper level for extra seating. They offer food menus from German and Irish cuisine, that did not disappoint. The German side (I should review separately I suppose) had long Hoffbrau-style tables, which I will be keeping in mind for any events where I have a large group to worry about. You walk in and it has a "hearty" bar feeling with lots of wood work and happy banter. Its a place you feel your going to get a good drink at. So that was fun! I get there, find a seat at the bar with my awesome fiance :) and look for a bartender to order. The guy was rude, but the beer was cold so I really didn't give a F-oxtrot about his manners. After we have our beers we ordered an Irish car bomb. It wasn't made right, so that was a bit disappointing to an Irish chick but it went down easy. So in a nutshell-The atmosphere was great yet the service was a bit lacking. Thursdays they do team trivia and our team won free shots one round! Upgrade is in order. Came here for First Friday with friends. The beer list has expanded, and a lot. They have genuinely good wines for those not into beer, as one of our party was. Though totally slammed the staff seemed on the ball and in control. Very cool. Did not eat but saw plates of food coming from the German restaurant next door that looked very good. And had enough time to tell from. The menu that the German wine list has grown. Had never been upstairs. Was blown away by the size of the space and layout. Acoustics were nice. I need to spend more time here, and will. I always thought a lot of potential existed here and I still do. Clearly the owners care. Favorite bar in BCS! The lack of a huge crowd of undergrads makes the place even better. The bartenders we've had know the details of most drinks. We sit in front of the drink-mixing area and my husband watches them work. Very rarely have we seen them do something weird to a drink (in terms of mixes/ingredients). Very friendly staff and I love the decor. Three dollar you-call-its on Mondays (excludes top shelf) paired with the showing of WWE's RAW on one TV makes it one of my favorite places. read more

Let me see... if you're a college student who wants nothing but loud music and alcohol, this place is for you. Now admittedly, the food was very good. I enjoyed eating here. But! But, the service is, well I'm not sure there is anything beyond nonexistent so, it's a black hole. It took 30 minutes for a server to reach our table with a menu. We watched as server after server passed us by to go to the younger crowd. We finally were able to flag one down. From there it took forever to get our drinks and another period of forever to get our food, and believe it or not, another forever period to be checked out. I think I aged while waiting. As I watched the tables around us with families, it was the same for them. To be fair, there was a city event going on. Maybe that added to it. I do think they need to add more servers or staff. This would help, I'm sure. I want to leave this on a positive note. 1) The food was good. 2) The server was friendly. 3) If you want a more party atmosphere this place is perfect. 4) The long wait period did provide us with more time to spend with family laughing and enjoying each other's company. The chips were little french fries like at McDonalds and the fish was undercooked and a VERY SMALL PORTION! + the piece on the plate was 75% undercooked batter! We went on a Thursday night and it was a blast!!!!! The food was fantastic: we had fish-n-chips, fried mushrooms, jalapeno poppers, salad, and chicken strips and everything was WONDERFUL!!!
