Yum. Yum yum yum yum YUM YUM YUM…read more Okay, a few more details: Bite My Biscuit (BMB) made the trek to Lewisville to grace us with their presence at Witherspoon Distillery, and I'm glad they did! But boy, did they walk into a situation that really required 2 to 3 food trucks, and they were the only one... The line was long and the wait was longer, but I can't really fault them for that. Witherspoon had a bigger than expected crowd that evening, with some live music and a couple of events (including a Match.com event - that made for some fun people watching). Apparently BMB was told earlier that day that a large crowd could materialize, so they didn't really have time to buy extra food or prep much. But they kept smiling and were nice about it, and everyone went with the flow and it was fine. By the time we finally got our food (made to order for sure - took a while), we were starving. I got the burger (the brisket on a biscuit had run out) and my wife got the special (which I'm blanking on). Both were very tasty. The burger was maybe just a *tad* overdone and the patty wasn't big, but serving it on a biscuit-style bun with some yummy sauce made for a good, hefty sammich. With a side of fries that we shared - which were excellent - it was plenty of food. Value was pretty good, too, particularly for a food truck. I don't think I'd go as far as calling it gourmet like some people have, but it was good and were satisfied. I'd totally order food from the BMB truck again. Oh, and it wasn't exactly a truck - it's actually a really nice trailer. :) (See the pic someone posted.)

"The Gastro Bomber is serving up traditional pub grub with a Texas twist and the customary pub…read moreculture...good music and friendly conversation!" - From GB's FB page. So yesterday (10/3/2012) Keller had it's first pop-up food truck event. I was very happy to catch wind of it, for I'm usually late to the party when it comes to events. In attendance were Gastro Bomber and So-Cal Tacos (http://www.yelp.com/biz/so-cal-tacos-fort-worth). My plan was to order something from each truck, one as a way to show support, and two, well because I'm a glutton and wanted to try both. I looked over both menus and came to a decision. From GB it was going to be the Chicken and Waffle Sandwich. I've been wanting C&Ws forever, from anywhere, and tonight was finally my night to try this item. The first thing to point out is it was not really a "sandwich" unless you want to stretch it and call it an open-faced sandwich. Second, it was not a full-sized waffle, but rather something rectangular. It consisted of three pieces of boneless chicken and a drizzle of maple syrup. Cost, $8. It was very good. The chicken was tender and the waffle delicious. What I noticed, and confirmed, is that there is corn meal in the waffle batter. I was told this is the Southern twist they like to add to there food. It was like Belgian cornbread. Yummy! Now I will add my wife's comment, which seem to be true of all food trucks, is that the cost to quantity ratio seems to be a little high. Three large tenders on essentially half a waffle for 8 bucks seems a bit much. Now I came up with a new take on the cost and that is this; One, your getting to try something new and somewhat unique. Two, and here's the kicker, your bottom line cost is perhaps a bit less than if you sat down in a restaurant. If tips are expected at food trucks, I did not see any obvious vessel for the cash to go in. You can bring your own drinks, and thus your bottom line for a unique dining experience really is not bad. I for one am glad this came together. I was excited when I learned that Keller might be getting it's own food truck park, and was disappointed when I learned the plans were not approved. Somehow I think Keller's loss will be Roanoke's gain (Actually Corina T., aka the "shark lady", who I met at this event said that). From this point forward I will keep track of food trucks coming to Keller, and there are definitely a few more items on GB's menu I would like to try (Irish Nachos, Shepherd's Pie Croquettes, Fish and Chips, Picanha Sandwich). PS. If you missed it, they will be back in the same spot (at the CVS at the NE corner of 1709 and Rufe Snow) next week, 10/10/2012 from 5 to 8PM. One quick tip: Do bring your own chairs!

The egg added an extra layer of richness that made it feel like more than your average burger. Every bite was messy in the best possible way. The strawberry Fanta was ice cold and paired perfectly with the burger, especially on a warm Texas day. One of the best parts of the visit was the location. Sitting in the Fort Worth Stockyards adds to the whole experience. Between the historic buildings, the western atmosphere, and the constant activity around the area, it feels like you're getting a taste of old Texas along with your meal. Service was friendly, food came out quickly, and the restaurant had a laid back barbecue joint vibe. If you're spending time in the Stockyards and want a solid burger, Riscky's is definitely worth a stop.

These were the worst bbq ribs I have ever had in the entire country. The meat was so dry it was like eating jerky - in a bad way. The fish was also really dry and flavorless. All the sides tasted like they came out of an old can or jar that had been forgotten in a bomb shelter. One taste of the meat put me off, so luckily I didn't each much. My husband on the other hand is a garbage disposal and ate it. He was hurting a few hours later and close to puking in a storm drain. Luckily he made it back to the hotel.

They accept debit/credit cards unlike Joe T's which is a major plus since I don't carry cash. They have parking on both sides of the building. We had a small (approx 15min) wait on a Saturday morning just before 11am. Then they opened their patio and we were able to be seated. Inside was packed. Parties of all sizes - 1 person to several tables of 10+. I believe you can make reservations for larger parties. We were immediately brought complimentary chips (yummy thin & not salty), delicious salsa (splash above mild spice level), & waters. Our waitress was very friendly, attentive, & prompt. We got HUEVOS CON JAMON (eggs & ham) and HUEVOS CON TOCINO (egg & bacon). You also get two tortillas and your choice or flour or corn. Both meals were very good and we couldn't finish them we were so full. (May have had something to do with indulging in the chips & salsa). Breakfast plates are served with their simple delicious refried beans and breakfast potatoes. Inside is old like Joe T's. Outside patio is covered, has fans, and one wall has plants that create a nice ambiance. We really enjoyed sitting outside. Bathrooms were clean but need a remodel. They offer catering & private events. I've been to several private events in their other building and have always enjoyed it! Joe T's has beautiful outdoor ambiance. Is touristy. Sit close to a fan or be prepared to swat flies. Great margaritas. Esperanzas has better food. Did not have a margarita this trip. Open 630am-7pm daily. But, I chose Esperanza's on a recent Fort Worth vacation because they have more menu items that their sister restaurant. Last visit over 10 years ago; went back for the Mole Enchiladas I had from 2012. Yet, this still isn't a menu item. You can get every other sauce on Enchiladas in the know Mexican cuisine except this combination. Yet, they are happy to oblige instead of the traditional mole covered Chicken bits. Ask for it smothered with Monterrey Jack instead of Cheddar if you take my advice. Rice and beans are good; add the salso to the beans. She had the colorful Tortilla Soup with optional ingredients adorning the large plate. Service was polite and attentive.
