They're not kidding about their Mexican food being authentic. Soooooo good that I want to come back here from North of Denver just to have good Mexican food. My husband and I shared the shrimp ceviche tostadas, chile relleno, enchilada, rice and beans. I also got an horchata and my husband got the Luna colada. Every single thing had great flavor. I asked where the owners were from because this is my fav style of Mexican food; they are from Michoacán. Aside from all that goodness, the atmosphere was also very cute! Well done. read more

After Kevin (my fiancé, not my ex--he's in Seattle, thank goodness) gently nudged me down a mountain during my tragic ski attempt, I was ready to call it a day... and maybe rethink my life choices. Then we found Frida's. The fajitas arrived sizzling like a redemption arc. Juicy steak, smoky chicken, and veggies so perfectly caramelized they could've been framed in my gallery in Kevin's house. Just ONE bite and my mountain of frustration melted away faster than the snow on my ski boots Kevin rented for me. Frida's didn't just deliver dinner, it restored my faith in humanity. My partner and I come here a lot and we order food a lot, we don't usually have an issue except for today. When you order food it should be the exact same as takeout but unfortunately this place doesn't do that which is considerably very rude. I'm colored and my partner is caucasian and I feel like since she ordered the food she 100% was getting judged and it's happened before. I don't know the server who brought us water but she had a huge attitude that was very disrespectful!! If you're a tourist be careful because your food is gonna be different than what they're actually giving the locals. Unfortunately I would've rated this place a 5 star because the food is actually delicious, but the service isn't and not to mention they don't have a manager on duty during the day. Also if you get the cheese dip it's gonna be way smaller than ordering it to go. So just order all your food to go if they're gonna be treating people like this i don't wanna be supporting it at all! Just go to Tequilas down the road, you'll be saving more money anyways and better service. Y'all just went from a 5-star to a 2-star. Decor was very cool. We thoroughly enjoyed the look of the place. It was very arty. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean. There was not much available for vegan/gluten free folks. Beans are not vegetarian. The prices were also a little high. Veggie fajitas were nearly $30. This is about twice as much as other restaurants serving similar types of food. Horrible service today. we came in at 12pm. only 2 other couples there. very quiet. After 15 minutes, no water, no chips, no hello. I had to raise my hand to get a waitress to come to us. then another 15 minutes JUST to get chips. I kept looking ack at the bar area and 3 gals could see me, eye contact with me, and yet never made contact with us. It's just not ok. this is not an exagger or untruth.. this JuST happened. This is some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. It tastes like authentic Mexican food but with some unique flavors from the local culture. It has a pleasant atmosphere. The servers were very friendly. I would say my only complaint would be that sometimes you would have to flag down your server if you needed something. Otherwise was an excellent dining experience. Frida now rips you off by charging Aspen prices in Glenwood. Go to Tequila's down the road for excellent food at fair prices. We have been super loyal to the owners of El Pollo Rico and then Frida for years to the point that we would drive 30 to 40 miles from Aspen--even in a snow storm--just to eat at their restaurants. We will NEVER return because they now rip you off with Aspen prices in Glenwood Springs. What used to be an eight dollar serving of queso is now over $10. And they do not serve you enough chips so when you ask for more chips they now charge you for more chips and salsa. Not even Mi Chola in Aspen charges you for refills on chips and salsa. I would drive 40 miles from Aspen to go to Frida until they started ripping me off. They think they are serving the Aspen customer with their new Aspen prices. I spent $40 for lunch on queso, a refill on chips and salsa, and tamales. That is obscene for lunch in Glenwood Springs. I discovered Tequila's down the road. The same queso portion is $3.50 with complimentary chips and salsa refills (see pic). And you can order three tacos and have lunch for less than $20. And the service is warm and friendly. I am so sad that I will never return to Frida because their food is excellent but it is very disrespectful to rip your customers off on chip and salsa refills when you're spending over $10 for queso and they don't give you enough chips for the queso. We are the opposite of cheap and are massive fans of capitalism. The beauty of capitalism is that we are able to vote with our dollars at Tequila's and refuse to be ripped off at Frida. read more

This was good Mexican food. The menu was rich and had a lot of pictures, that's always something I enjoy. The food tasted great. I added a pic of the ceviche bowl because that item was not pictured in the menu. But what makes this 5 stars and not 4? We'll that would be the scenery. Take a look at those mannequins above the bar. They are visible from the entire restaurant. This was extremely convenient for me as I told my kids they were like the pirates in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride (4 star ride by the way) at Disney. But! Frida's almost got 5 stars from our family! The chicken enchiladas that they're known for lived up to their reputation. The next time we get back to Glenwood, we'll be back just for those! Our server was attentive and the food was piping hot when she brought it out. The only thing I tasted that I can't recommend is the tamale. It's a shame that it's a 4 hour drive away from where I live. Their salsa is glorious and every time I'm there, I get one of their burritos and it's fantastic!!! I forget which one it's been though. The restaurant itself is gorgeous with a bunch of huge windows to view the breathtaking mountains. I've only gotten to go twice, but out of those two times I'm honestly fallen in love with the place. The service both times was a little rough, but I've only been there while it was ungodly busy, and as a server myself, I completely understand. Great job to everyone working here!!! read more

You don't rebuild the entire interior of a building to serve crappy food and this place does not disappoint. As soon as you walk in, you notice the attention to detail everywhere. From the terracota roof on the bar to the "frida" on every seat back. Apparently architects from the US and Mexico were used to give this beautiful property its authentic look and feel. You know they didn't just slap a name on a building and call it good. The service was attentive and polite. I had the beef Barbacoa and whoa! It was great! Portion is big, on a 13" plate and it comes with a special salsa which was tangy and very tasty. You can tell all is fresh, I don't think a single ingredient was from a can. Meal came with refried beans and rice. Drawback: no wine to really speak of, unless you like Blackbox chardonnay. Seems like a nice selection of tequilas. read more

I was so surprised how much GOOD Mexican food there was in Colorado!! We came here for dinner one of the first nights of our ski trip and we got seated in ~10 mins. The place was packed! Super fun/lively atmosphere and the interior design matches up to the vibe! The wait staff was very kind and attentive as well. We started off with guacamole for the table (to DIE for) and a margarita pitcher to share. I ordered the chicken enchiladas (huge portion) which I literally inhaled because it was THAT good. Wow, how do places like this stay in business? We're huge Mexican foodies we knew this place looked 100% gringo, but we were hungry and decided to settle. we told ourselves if the drinks were okay we could handle it. When we walked in Fridas they said the kitchen was behind so they weren't seating (strike one). The had plenty of employees up front standing around so, maybe hire someone to freakin' cook? Well the only bright spot, the young man hosting sat us at the bar while we waited and the bartender gal walked by us for 10 minutes without saying anything, rude. Finally the host kid asked us what we wanted and got us going. Too bad as the bitter bartender dropped the WORST margarita in f ront of me (sweet, no alcohol, strike 2). We finished the weak sauce drinks and the bartender and all the staff proceeded to walk by us for another 15 minutes, scowling not asking us anything (strike 3). We decided to cut out losses and leave, we asked yet another employee (doing very little) if they had cooked our food; this jerk proceeds to say "no hablo english" in the most patronizing horrible way, then says (in english) just kidding. unbelievable experience one of the worst most rude restaurant experiences i've ever had. read more
