Immediately upon walking into this restaurant the vibes were off. It was pretty empty inside and despite being one of two tables, we weren't greeted by the host and awkwardly stood in the entryway waiting for someone to acknowledge our presence. Chips and queso was a joke. No flavor and quite stringy. Pretty sure it's a strange combination of mozzarella and cheddar, which is unpleasant at best. We also received our queso without any chips so it sat, hardening, for a solid 5 minutes before we could actually eat it. Once the chips and salsa arrived, we were served another disappointment. Unfortunately the chips were very greasy and the salsa had a sweetness that was very unpleasant. Minimal taste other than sweet. Would definitely have benefited from some heat. The table next to us was seated 10 minutes after we arrived and received their main courses before us, despite ordering well after our order was in. Our food arrived and the portions were hearty. One of our party ordered the vegetable fajitas. It was cooked and seasoned well, just simply way too much food for one person to eat and not necessarily something that would be good reheated. The rice was bland, but standard. The other person in our party ordered chicken tinga tacos. The chicken was over cooked, the green salsa was a bit redeeming. Price was okay. $35 between the two of us with no drinks. If you're looking for a memorable meal, I'd suggest going somewhere else. What a great find! I was in the mood for Mexican food and this place hit the spot. From the moment my buddy and I walked on the door we were greeted by the bartender Natalie with a smile that lit up the whole restaurant. She made us feel so welcome that we decided to sit at the bar and have our dinner. We started with some guacamole that was completely on point. Hey, get it spicy, you can handle it. The guac was served with homemade chips and a fantastic salsa. Natalie served us up some amazing margaritas with the house tequila and we were set. We asked for some suggestions on the menu and my friend and I shared the chicken fajitas and the steak and shrimp quesadilla. The quesadilla was delicious and definitely our favorite. Nice ambiance and not too expensive. The beef birria tacos were extremely bland and the tortilla wasn't cooked. I had to add extra lime and salt to make it taste okay. I asked if it came with cheese and my server said "Yes", but then charged me extra for cheese... that was annoying. I wouldn't have gotten it if I had to pay extra. Plus the food took like 30-40 minutes to come and the place wasn't busy AT ALL. So that was disappointing. My friend and I stumble upon this Mexican restaurant on Yelp. One of the best Mexican restaurants I been to in Brooklyn so far. Cozy decorated interior throughout the restaurant, also plenty of outdoor seating being that there located on a corner street. I haven't had good fish and shrimp tacos, but they totally nailed it. Fried fish in the pescado tacos was so yummy and tender. The skirt steak fajitas juicy and every bite was delicious. I also loved there freshly made Guacamole and chips. I always order the 3 steak tacos and the amount of steak has decreased dramatically each time. For $10 a little steak with just cilantro and onions is not worth it. Please keep your portions consistent, I am very disappointed. Also with my enchiladas plate today I had half the amount of rice and beans as before? Portion control? Measurements please. So this is literally in my backyard, and this location is perfect, let's try the new place! BYOB is always a plus... although I can't wait until the bar is full service and I can get a margarita on the rocks. Food was great, service warm and welcoming and my son loved the skirt steak tacos... at 9 he swears he's a Mexican expert... lol. This place is so bad. It is as if they do not care at all and are proud of it. The drinks are basically just straight alcohol and not mixed at all. Ordered a Brooklyn burrito w the shredded chicken option. No where is this item listed as spicy. Now, I'm 38 weeks pregnant and have been told not to eat spicy. So, imagine my surprise when I take a bite of my food and it is very spicy. Like eat several chips, chug water and still feel spice spicy. I called the restaurant. I asked if what I ordered contained spice. They said indeed, there is spicy chipotle mayo in there. I suggested they list that in the future. Now, from the start, the person on the line is rude. He responds, that I should have known shredded chicken is spicy. And that guacamole and pico de Gallo is also always spicy. I ask for a refund or an order I can eat. He suggests I call seamless bc it isn't their problem. I ordered w seamless so it's their problem. I say okay send me another burrito that isn't spicy then. He questions whether I want that bc remember- guacamole and pico de Gallo is always spicy. He then says I need to return my spicy burrito when they deliver the new one. That I repackage the spit up burrito that is sitting cut up on my plate. "Remember it's spicy, you can't eat it." This is about when I lose my shit. Note once more: I'm 38 weeks pregnant which if you've never been pregnant before means you have perhaps had a long journey of emotional and physical ups and downs and at this point just want it to be over. You're HUGE, immobile and realize now from first hand experience that people don't get up for pregnant ladies on the subway. And now I have a random man questioning my ability to eat a spicy burrito?! Well. I curse this guy out and hang up on him. Not surprisingly, when seamless calls to request a refund, they refuse to issue one. Seamless gives me a $15 credit for the spicy burrito (I spent much more on my total order). I order frequently from Friducha and spend a lot of money at the restaurant. I have never experienced anything like what happened last week. We ordered through seamless and received the wrong order. I called the restaurant to let them know and I unfortunately had to deal with Willy over the phone. He interrogated me about the wrong order insinuating that I was lying and then demanded I text him a photo of the wrong burrito in order for me to have it removed from our bill (something I've never had happen in my life). He said he would remove it from our bill, but never apologized and had an attitude towards me. I checked my bank account a few a days later after the payment cleared and it was not removed from my bill. I tried calling seamless but they said since it had been 48 hours since the order they couldn't help. I called the restaurant and was told to call back because there was no manager on staff. The following day I called back and got Willy again who told me he was the manager but couldn't help refund the money and to call seamless. I explain to him the situation with seamless and he continued to rush me off the phone by telling me to call seamless over and over. After I repeated their policy he finally told me to call back the next day acting very annoyed. I finally went in and was refunded my money by someone else. It took almost a week to get a refund for a burrito! It wasn't about the money, it was the principle of the situation. I have been eating here for years and this one altercation has made me consider never returning. It was one the worst customer experiences I've ever had . If you ever have an issue and you have the displeasure of dealing with Willy, I would urge you to speak with someone else or forget about your issue being resolved. read more

I used to eat at Friducha at least once a week when I lived in Greenpoint a couple years ago. I'm Mexican and am from Texas, and while it's basically impossible to find authentic Mexican in Greenpoint, Friducha had really scratched the itch for me back then. Anyway. I went the other night for old times' sake and was so sad about the quality of the food. I ordered the queso, which used to be really great and fundido-like. This time it had an odd texture and tasted bland, and almost like plain milk. The chips were still really good. The salsa has always been questionable. I ordered the crispy ground beef tacos for my main and while the taco shells were great, the meat was grainy and tasted foul, like cafeteria school meat. So odd. I lost my appetite after eating the first one. The bathroom was extremely disgusting. Dirt and toilet paper all over the floor, etc. It reminded me of a dive bar restroom. I will say however a huge highlight was the cucumber margarita made by this LOVELY bartender Vanessa. She was such a delight and even though she was super busy, she gave me great service. And she made a super refreshing marg. All in all, I won't go back to Friducha probably unless it's for drinks. I want to support them but the food quality has really gone downhill, I actually feel a bit sick from it still. The food here is amazing but the staff are not friendly. For example, one time I was picking up my food and using Apple Pay and the woman was saying "click skip click skip click skip click skip!" in a really passive aggressive manner over my shoulder. I wasn't clicking the skip button because I had turned to look at her to see if she was having some sort of fit.
