I knew that my life was about to take a drastic change for the better, from the first day I contacted Francis, the owner of Sunshine Healthcare. I am a single, 49 year old woman, who has been battling complex health issues for over 15 years. Having moved back to Rockland County, alone and extremely ill, my needs seemed insurmountable. Struggling with years of chronic illness can result in friends and family leaving your life, out of frustration and fear. Being disabled and too young to qualify for help from the county or state, my needs fell thru the cracks. That first conversation with Sunshine, when I barely had the strength to ask for help, changed the course of the last two years of my life. Hearing the desperation and sickness in my voice, Sunshine sprung into action first, leaving the insurance bureaucracy for later. After contacting my physician, a nurse and aide were sent to my doorstep. I immediately received home treatments that saved me from weekly trips to the ER. I had someone to get me to my doctors, make sure there was food in my stomach and hope in my heart. I no longer felt alone and frightened for my life. With Sunshine's help, I got back the fight in my spirit that I needed to turn my health around. I became part of the Sunshine family, which was more valuable to me than words could ever express. Over a period of months, when insurance coverage was questionable, the owners of Sunshine tirelessly fought my company on a daily basis. They spent hours each day on my case and did not stop until finally coverage was reinstated. What an indescribable blessing in a world where time is money. I lay in a hospital bed, not knowing how I was going to exist at home, as they fought for me and won. The Sunshine team is truly concerned with the patients' welfare and and treat each patient individually. You can really be assured that you will get the best of care and respect from their staff. It is now two years later and I consider Sunshine to be a big part of my family. I still have the same wonderful, caring nurse checking on me and administering treatments as needed. It is because of their endless support that I have managed to stay out of the hospital as much as possible. I have not only thrived with their treatments and weekly monitoring, but I've also learned about the power of hope and humanity. ABSOLUTELY NO, NO AND NO!!! Matthew (VP) from Sunshine is all about optics and only that. I had chosen a more reputable Nursing agency for my son who is being discharged from a Skilled Nursing Facility to our home. Unfortunately Social Work fell for Matthews sales pitch and contracted with Sunshine. Matthew repeatability and consistently reported back to Social Work that they were waiting for initial authorization from NYS Medicaid- this continued for over 30 days- When no progress was made in hiring a Nurse- Social Work contacted Medicaid directly and SUNSHINE Homecare Services HAD NEVER EVER SUBMITTED the claim for authorization!!!!!! MY SONS DISCHARGE WAS DELAYED 30 DAYS because Matthew and the company are full of S__it!!! DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY!!!! DIO NOT WORK FOR THESE A---holes!!!!! read more

Oh Sunshine is so bad they should owe stars. Their aids stole from us. Their aid backed away when my mother started falling from the commode instead of helping her land gently or righting the chair which resulted in my mother being bedridden for the remaining months of her life. They sent aids that left early. They sent aids that wanted our gentle and loving cats put in the closet. They are the scum of the earth, sending ill-trained dangerous thieves into our home just when care is needed. We filed a complaint with the NJ oversight agency about the very incompetent Karen, who the agency declined to fire after my mother broke her legs. Sunshine is the absolute wrong name for the darkness Nancy and crew brought into our lives. read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. Not only was my mother's aide VERY INATTENTIVE to her needs, but she was CONSTANTLY on her phone. Neighbors told me they always heard her screaming outside on her phone and always saw her littering. She even left cheese in my mom's car. CHEESE in the door. A complete slob. Her room was a pigsty. She ruined BRAND NEW furniture. We were asked to provide photos and an invoice for a refund but we never saw that. Very dishonest company. DO NOT trust these people with your loved ones. read more

I totally love their services, their home health aided are awesome, their are always on time and very polite. my Aide went above and beyond to help my father, she would prepare food and leave everything ready for him she keep everything nice and clean in our house. Sunshine homecare does not staff adequately nor do they have an abundance of efficient aides to choose from. I personally had to put in over hundred and fifty hours- natural support within 3 months of service or 911 was threatened as the only alternative. Ultimately, the burden of care is put on the family because of there debacle of issues within. I would NOT recommend them if you care about your loved ones well being. The coordinators lack compassion and do not seem to care about your concerns. The administration makes empty promises. There is no back up when an aide calls out for a scheduled shift as initially explained . From onset they had great difficulty staffing. It's an extremely frustrating relationship to partner with such a provider.To save yourself much aggravation, please look into other agencies! Sincerely, a very disappointed daughter read more

There are some wonderful employees, but overall the waiver services are terribly disorganized and inadequate.

This establishment has been a blessing to our family. They have worked to accommodate the needs of my ailing father. Everything has been taken care of in a professional, but personal manner from the aides arriving on time to bathing my father. The gracious help they have afforded our family have made the process run very smoothly. This office is highly focused on quality care and services, I can say that proudly. At first when I took all of my belongings and moved up north to New York from Florida for work I really did not take a liking to it. I would have to move all the way up there with my mother, who has had problems doing daily tasks for about 5 years, to a place where I would have to experience 4 seasons. I have barely seen snow!!! I really thought southern hospitality was something in the past because I have heard of New Yorkers being very in your face and rude etc, but when I first spoke on the phone with Biju there was something different that I felt. She was very kind and compassionate (which is a good reflection of the company), she listened and understood what I was going through. My ingrained beliefs and stereotypes were not coming true. The homecare agencies in New York I had spoken to on the phone, which I am not going at this time, were pushing things down my throat and not asking the right questions. They would go off on a tangent, and it was as if they were robots on sales calls, strictly working to get a client without taking the necessary time to forge a friendship and a partnership because at the end of the day they would be the ones taking care of my world who is my mother and I would not want someone watching my mom if I did not trust/believe/like them. I came to the conclusion that if the spokespeople/administrators of the company are not nice then that is a reflection of a company that I would not like to do business with. While speaking to several of them it was apparent that they really did not care about the problems my family was having. Once Biju set me up with the necessary aides I have not looked back. The aides have been nothing less than a blessing for me. We all talk together, laugh together and best of all my mother truly enjoys their presence. I know that I can leave for work without a care in the world because I have an aide who is really looking out for the well-being of my mother. The aides have taken a burden off of my shoulders that I am very thankful for. At the end of the day, I really believed that southern hospitality was not going to be a thing in the north, but Sunshine has shown me that my previous beliefs are not true and that southern hospitality can be extended all the way up in New York through a home health care agency called Sunshine Homecare. To everyone looking for an all around great home care company, look no further because they are the best. :) read more
