I needed to replace a 23 year old car that I had loved, but was found unresponsive in the garage one too many times this past year. My online search, focused on something less bad for the environment, turned up a couple manual transmissions, which surprised me. My old car was a 5 speed so that's what I prefer, but I thought they were dying out. One of them was at the Friendly Bargain Lot, and Car Guru rated it a great deal. Juwan was patient and helpful with my difficulties getting to an initial test drive, luckily one of my kids came through and let me borrow his car. I test drove the car at the top of my list, and it was smooth like a new car, and seemed to accelerate super easy. I did test drive another just for comparison, but I think I really knew I had found my car when I had the first one on the highway. Having just retired a couple weeks ago, this was not ideal timing, but I told Juwan I would check about borrowing from life insurance, which was how I had financed the last one. He told me they would actually give me something for my old car, too, even though it wasn't running, Luckily my policy had more than enough value to borrow what I needed. The CarFax report already told me the current price was a bargain, so I didn't plan to try to get it down unless the inspection turned up something. Juwan stayed in touch with me over the weekend to make sure we could get this done. The inspection was perfect, so I was buying the car! We had to go to the main dealership for that part. Great Dealership They are customer service orientated. They live up to their name!!

They sold me a vehicle that had a leaking gas valve. Within 4 weeks of purchase, my oil light started appearing. I just took it into the shop (3 months after purchase) and they told me the oil was low despite Friendly telling me the oil was changed recently/fluids are ok....but that could be because of the leak. I am now spending $1200 on repairs on a vehicle I paid $9500 for.... They told me it was in fine shape/had all its regular maintenance. I understand you are taking a risk when you buy a used vehicle... but there is absolutely no way they were not aware of this issue when they sold me the vehicle with the state it is in now. I have never had this bad of an experience when purchasing a used vehicle and I have driven a few beaters into the ground. Will never ever purchase a vehicle from here again. My experience here was incredibly frustrating and completely unacceptable. I had a 6:30 a.m. appointment for a simple break job, yet I ended up waiting 4 1/2 hours with almost no communication. What's the point of scheduling an early appointment if the shop can't honor it? I specifically chose the earlier appointment to avoid the long wait times, so this was extremely disappointing, frustrating, and inconvenient. The lack of updates, the excessive wait time, and overall disregard for my time made this one of the worst customer service experiences I've had at an auto shop. Tyler Schuster was my appointed service advisor. If this is how you treat your customers with scheduled appointments, I can't imagine how they handle anything else. Since the day I leased my vehicle it has been one issue after the other, I have only had it since the very end of August and it has been in 4 times for 1 reason or another. The female service manager is rude and does not belong in any form of customer service, I believe her name is Raylee. I heard the comment "I don't make them I just try to fix them" from 2 different employees. The dealership and GM point fingers at eachother and neither one is at all helpful. Then they have my vehicle for 2 weeks, and there was zero communication for 1.5 weeks, then when I received my vehicle back not only did they not even bother to wash it but gave it back to me with 69% battery left, so apparently they couldn't even be bothered to charge it for me either. Once my lease is up I will never buy or lease another GM vehicle because believe it or not, GM Customer service is worse than Friendly Chevrolet. Oh also found out they sold me a vehicle with a mouse nest inside by the wiring and firewall and blamed it on me. I will NEVER be a customer of Friendly Chev or GM. I bought my GMC Canyon about 6 months ago, and it's been awesome! Chris, the salesman was so friendly (for real!) and helpful and explained the process of a trade-in and walked me through everything! There was a chip in the windshield, and they helped me set up an appointment and have it replaced on their dime. I have had nothing but great service, and they were so helpful with a warranty claim as well. I got a loaner, the service was done on time and i will continue to keep bringing my truck back there for oil changes and service! I had such a good experience, my 19 year old just went there this past weekend, worked with Chris again and got his dream truck- a Chevy Colorado. I have been a customer of Friendly for about 10 years. Today, 8/22/24, I got a LOF. Supposedly I got a 10% veterans discount, but it was immediately offset by a "Fees" charge exactly equal to the supposed discount. Secondly, I stopped by the front sales office after the LOF was done to chat with the salesman I've been doing business with. A sign on the door informed me that firearms were not allowed. This is a new sign. Since someone there thinks that anyone intent on gun violence there (criminals) would obey that sign making Friendly a "gun free zone" and since I have a CCW permit for 20 years and always carry, I will not be doing business with Friendly (not friendly anymore). Update 4/25/2020 check engine has been on brought it in and a valve was stuck. Something with vapors from the gas tank. Problematic because it would die at stoplights and took a few times to start after putting in gas. My spouse brought the car in and they diagnosed and fixed the issue free of charge (yay warranty). K another update 3/2/19. So we were finally able to get our schedules to line up and they installed everything heated seats which are awesome especially in MN. Floor liners are good. Ladies with heels FYI they are slick with your heels. Remote start is awesome too. Oh and they loaned us sweet truck while they put in our stuff. OMG it was so nice Okay so here is an update on 2/16/19. We've had to change getting our heated seats, remote start and floor covers put in. So now we've been trying to call and schedule a time for like a week now and seriously can't even get someone to schedule an appointment for us. We just get transferred around the building or get put on hold and never get anyone. Bought a certified used car with the spouse. 20k. I will update periodically. More importantly, their pricing was very competitive and I drove all the way from Madison to pick up the SUV. Made an appointment at noon for a break replacement. I brought the vehicle in over an hour early for drop off. On a side note, when we scheduled we were told a max 2 hours for the service to be completed. After 4 hours (from the appointment time, so really 5 hours from drop off), numerous attempts were made to contact the service center and voicemails left with the service department. Finally after 7 hours from drop off, we received a call that they had not gotten to the vehicle and needed it until midday the following day. It was told they attempted to contact us but no voicemail or missed call was on our phones. After this we decided to take our service elsewhere and there was no courtesy or respect for the time taken to drop the car off, pick up from a friend, and then getting a ride back to pick up the car. It is one thing to be busy and upfront with a customer but to lie and not be upfront is disrespectful and poor service. read more

Purchased a seemingly beautiful Yukon back in June. The vehicle has been a money pit since I purchased it. 35 days after getting the vehicle the AC went out (2000). Tires were low on test drive. They filled them and seemed ok. Nope found out 2of the 4 rims were cracked (1500). Called before the 30 day exchange left a message No one called back and could not get ahold of anyone at the dealership that could actually help me. They did not even call back. Avoid your local Friendly Chevrolet scammers. Usually have good luck at dealerships but it appears they were intentionally misleading. In my experience they are ok selling a bad product. I bought a 2015 Chevrolet suburban on the 7 th of December 2022, I drove it home and when I got home, progressive insurance ad sent me a drivers controller that how Iam driving, it caused the engine light to come on. I took the car to O'Reillys for a free diagnostic it said that one cylinder was missing. I decided that I would get a tuneup when I got the oil changed. but then I started having more trouble , so I took it to a Machanic and they told me that this was going to need a new engine put in because the piston was hitting the crank shaft and causing metal flakes to infest the engine. I have had this truck for 11 weeks I took it back and just left it with the Dealer. they lied to me when they said they checked it out completely and everything was good. I'm going to probably take a hit but I'm not buying a lemon. be careful they are selling bad cars. read more

Unfortunately I can't rate a zero otherwise I would so they get a one. They bought the hubs which were installed from Napa which is a five minute drive away and basically doubled the price of the parts for that 10 minute drive. I was told it was a 2-year warranty at the time of installation but when I go back in after a year and 5 months I'm told it's only a one-year warranty and two hubs fail within one and a half years. These are the two hubs that friendly Chevrolet installed and now will not stand by the remedy is to give me a quote for nearly $1,800 to install OEM replacement parts. I have had these wheel speed sensors changed at least four times at fridley Chevrolet which is part of the wheel hub. If this had been the only issue with these wheel speed sensors and hubs I could almost overlook it but it has been an ongoing problem. I was even told one time after they installed the wheel speed sensors that the mechanic failed to put dielectric grease on the connectors and I was still charged to replace the wheel speed sensor. I think I have finally learned a hard fought lesson do not bring your vehicles to friendly Chevrolet for service read more

This establishment is letting an employee wear a confederate flag face mask in the middle of a racial pandemic, and improperly at that, during a health pandemic. It was worn under his nose the entire time, and then when he was actually talking to me, he took it off. Then when he came back to give me an estimate to fix everything that was "wrong" with my car (something I'll definitely be getting a second opinion on; all I asked for was a diagnosis for my exhaust making noise) he asked me if I understood how much three millimeters was. I am a grown woman. I don't care if he didn't mean to come off as sexist, but he definitely did, and it's not okay. I will be taking all future business elsewhere. read more

I have had a lot of work done on my car there. When I say a lot I mean thousands of dollars done there. I have had my oil changed there many times too. One time I believe they didn't put enough oil in almost causing my engine to blow and I would have had to pay to get my engine fixed luckily it didn't happen. I ask them not to touch any filters except to change my oil. Every time they touch my cab filter something gets into the fan and I have to go back for them to clean that out. The most recent is the final straw that I won't go back. I needed my defrost fixed. I took it in last Monday and they had to order the parts. Which is understandable so I had to bring it in yesterday to get fixed. I was told last Monday it would be a 6 hour job and I would have my car back same day. I got told yesterday they couldn't guarantee it would be finished. Never got a call from the service writer I had to call left a message and never got a call back. They also made me feel like I was a young dumb blonde lady and I am not. I call my dad to run everything by him first before doing stuff. I will NEVER go back. read more

Buyer Beware! I bought a used car on September 14th, I noticed an issue during the test drive. I was told that it was a wheel bearing (turned out to be 2), and that they would repair it after purchase. The "repair" was done on September 19th. On September 22nd, the car overheated. I was on Central Ave, so I drove straight to Friendly Chev. I parked and walked into the service area. I spoke to a woman there who was definitely not friendly. I explained the issue, and said that I knew that the car was sold as is, but I only bought the car 8 days ago! She told me that someone could check the coolant level, so I drive into the bay. A man checked said that it had a leak and that it was very low. I asked the woman if they could add coolant, she looked surprised that I even asked. A man filled it, and also added wiper fluid because that was empty, which shows that car fluids aren't checked prior to sale. Luckily, this was an easy fix with a bottle of sealant. Several days ago, the wheel bearing noise came back, even louder, so I made an appt with a trusted mechanic, so I'll feel safe driving the car. Tonight the engine light came on. I have driven the car a total of 376 miles since purchase. I have been driving for over 40 years; I have never before bought a used car that needed repairs almost immediately after driving it off the lot. read more

This dealer sell lemons in their used lot. I bought a 2006 Subaru Tribeca from them a week ago. The vehicle was clean and seem to run well. So I liked the price and decided to get it. They sold it to me as is do to the miles on it. In reality they sold it to me as is do to all of the repairs that it needs. I was not told about those repairs of course. Do not go to them for used cars. When we where putting together the lease agreement I opted in for the stop gap. I am not being told that the bank will not honor that. read more

Getting repairs or service done right the first time can be a crap shoot.. but since 2014 I have been getting oil changes done here on my 2014 Chevy Equinox.. When I started getting a rust streak on the back hatch I took it in to have them look at it, Because it was over the warranty mileage I would have to pay to fix it.. I'm not letting my 3yr old Equinox body rot that quickly so I had them fix and re-paint the hatch.. they had it 3 weeks and gave me a cool new Pickup to drive.. when I got it back, you couldn't tell it was repainted.. looked great.. I have had all my oil changed done here.. and repairs to my Chevy Cruz that I bought from them.. Later bought another Equinox from them.. I haven't had a problem with service.. or with Sales.. DO NOT TRUST this place! Called on a recall/warranty had all the info needed and they said our issue (water pump) was not covered. Due to info from a friend we KNEW it should be covered so we called 2 other GM dealers which both, with the same info, were able to confirm it WAS covered. Called Fridley back and talked to a manager, he listened, verified, appologized, but I certainly didn't feel it was sincere. Could have cost our college student $600 plus for this mistake! My mom went and bought a truck from them about 3 months ago and we allready started having problems with it, the proximity sensors from the front of the vehicle started to beep saying we were close to something when nothing is in front of us, it kept doing it every day (and still does) and they told us that they recalibrated it to stop it from beeping, the next day it does again. They also said it's because the rain or snow? For the price my mom paid for it you would only assume that there would be no issues with a truck sensor when it's literally sprinkling out side. Over all the truck is nice and she is happy with the purchase but It almost seems like they just try to get you out of the door as quick as possible with a temporary fix.... read more

Purchase a used vehicle from them last year, we paid to double their friendly Chevrolet warranty that covered wearable parts for two years. We had one tire go bad on an all-wheel drive vehicle, and they will not replace all three, just the one that's bad. You cannot do that on an all-wheel drive vehicle, must replace all four. The bad one is at 3/32nds of an inch, the recommended replace mint, the other three are at 5/32nds. Really? read more

My sales person was great. This review has nothing to do with him. I purchased my used vehicle from Friendly Chev. I traded in my 2007 Jeep for a 2013 Chevy Captiva. I LOVED my jeep but I broke my tailbone this past summer and my Jeep had a manual transmission so it was getting too painful to drive. I went in on a Friday afternoon, spent at least three hours talking with the sales person, looking up reviews on the car and consulting with my husband. We decided to purchase the car and the day of the purchase everything went really smooth. The next day I was driving the vehicle and heard a very loud rattle noise so I called the dealership and they had me bring it in. After four hours, they told me they would need to hold the car overnight, but did not have any rentals. So, they drove me home without a vehicle. Luckily, I was able to borrow a vehicle from a family member, but three days later, I hadn't heard from them and I still didn't have my car. I called and called and called and the person handling my car was always gone and no one else had any answers. Finally, he called me back and said they would have to replace the windshield, but they were able to get me a rental car. After TWO WEEKS of driving the rental, calling the dealership every other day because no one was calling me, they told me that everything was fixed, the rattle was gone. After picking up my vehicle and finally having it home, I was driving to work the next day and while I was on the highway, every single window in the vehicle fogged up and I couldn't see anything. The defrost wasn't working. I had to drive straight to the dealership while wiping my windshield from the inside. The guy in the body shop was very rude to me and they gave me a rental car that must have just been returned because it was dirty on the inside and out, and the gas tank was flashing "low fuel." Later that day, they told me they had it fixed so I was able to pick it up. Horrible service, horrible communication. No one ever seemed to know what was happening and I felt that, because I am a woman, that I was taken advantage of and treated unfairly by the male employees. They were rude and impatient. I don't ever want to go back and wrote a review to the supervisor but have not heard anything about it. Clearly they don't care what their customers think. I'm a bit disappointed a bought my truck from them at a decent price. If the market wasn't through the roof it would have been better but I digress it wasn't a bad deal. However about a month into owning my vehicle the whole front dash rattles from loose fasteners and the transmission lags behind, constantly getting a shudder so I have to let off for it to catch up. There were dings and small dents they didn't tell me about and I drove over 500 miles since I was going back home. So much for solid service and technicians. They're pumping vehicles out that aren't built to last. The sales rep Matt was great and very kind and put in a lot of effort to make things right but I'm not impressed with the quality of technicians in there shop. They take care of you when things go wrong! I purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia about a month ago. My sales consultant was Isaac P and he was great! I had a few things go wrong with the vehicle in the beginning, and Isaac went above and beyond to resolve them. My first complaint was the cigarette smell the previous owner left behind. Isaac came to my work the following week, picked up the vehicle and returned it oxidized and smelling brand new. They did this free of charge. The next problem I had a week later, was a pesky traction control light that kept coming on. I brought in to the service center on a Monday and worked with Leandro. He was very friendly and kept me always in the loop as to what was going on. Unfortunately the light came on again and again and each time I left thinking it was fixed, it would come back on the next day. I became concerned when after the 3rd time they informed me that they were very busy and would have to wait for 2 weeks before looking at it again. Isaac was able to facilitate and get the vehicle in right away. They found there was a frayed wire and the issue was resolved. My warranty covered the service and Friendly Chev reimbursed me for the deductible. After feeling like things were finally on track with my vehicle, I got to playing with all of the features. I popped in a DVD and to my dismay, it wouldn't read. Of course I was super disappointed because this was one of the big selling features for me. I was under the impression when purchasing the vehicle that the DVD player was functioning and felt that if it was known that it was broken, that should have been disclosed. For this issue I worked with the Mark in the service- accessories department. His customer service was beyond amazing. He got me in right away, got me a loaner vehicle, and fixed the issue (again at no cost to me) and never made me feel like I was a hassle or a bother. He deserves to be recognized for his exceptional customer service and professionalism. After having all sorts of problems with my vehicle not 30 days after purchase I was starting to regret it. It is the amazing staff and outstanding customer service that has made me change my mind. I want to say a huge thank you to Isaac and Mark for going above and beyond for a customer. read more

This is a continuing problem on this Tahoe. Within driving 2000 miles after tge fourth replace/repair, the cord for the rear window defroster fell off again. I was told this is a huge problem with this truck. I purchased the extended warranty . Daniel Clifford was great with the repair in October but today I was told it would cost me $900. Why would you charge new that when I have paid 2 deductibles and this has been repaired twice and replaced twice? This is the 5th time the wire has fallen off. GM needs to recall these Tahoes and get it fixed correctly. I am not paying another deductable when the issues has never been fixed correctly in the first place. The service woman even "suggested" that another customer actually smashed his own back window so his insurance would cover replacing the window, thus replacing his defective rear window defroster cord. read more

Years ago my vehicle was broken into after I gave the keys to an employee (a salesman) I was dealing with for repairs and was assured it would be parked indoors due to valuable additions to my vehicle. I was called the next day to tell me that it was parked in an area outside where security cameras couldn't see it and everything was stolen. When I confronted the employee he lied to my face to cover his own rear end and cost me thousands. Horrible people. read more

I took my car in to have the bumper fixed by the body shop and since it was going to be there a few days, I also had the front brakes replaced. The car was completed on time, looked great! I got a loaner car, actually a loaner truck which was a 2017 Silverado with all of the bells and whistles possible. The whole experience went very smoothly and was completely hassle free! read more
