My trip to Cuba with Friendly Planet Travel was flawless and extremely enjoyable. I would have to list this trip in my top three trips and I have been in many many places. All of the travel visas and paperwork were included and the process of obtaining them was easy and stress free. It's hard to single out the highlights of this trip because every day was amazing and perfect. The agenda each day flowed effortlessly as we moved from place to place in Havana and Vinales. The food that we were offered each day was authentic and delicious. The most memorable part of the trip has to be the people we met. The first person to welcome us to Cuba was our tour guide, Alejandro Carrazana. He has the friendliest smile and the most cheerful personality you will ever encounter. His knowledge and willingness to share it was remarkable. We could not have enjoyed our trip as much as we did without his accurate and ever-present translation from Spanish to English. He went above and beyond his job description every single day. His dedication to making our trip perfect was admirable. He made sure we got to see every single thing we mentioned, whether it was listed on our itinerary or not. Alejandro was accompanied by our tour bus driver, Roberto Chamorro. Right away, it was evident that we were in expert hands with Roberto. He exuded calmness and peace and drove us everywhere each day with complete perfection. He was friendly, professional and a complete gentleman. It was such a pleasure to travel with this team from Friendly Planet Travel. Our casa, Encanto de Perserverancia was clean and comfortable. The staff welcomed us upon arrival and told us that we had arrived at our own home in Cuba. That theme was never lost during the whole trip. The casa did indeed become our home for the entire week. The kitchen staff were incredibly friendly and the breakfast we were served each morning was delicious and fresh. Two staff members that worked at the reception desk every day made our trip even more fantastic. Jose and Rai were available throughout the day and most of the night for any questions we had. They helped us daily with reservations and phone calls. The were cheerful and sweet the entire time. They were engaging and we had so many candid conversations with them. They became our Cuban family over the time we stayed with them. After seven days, that flew by in an instant, we were sad to leave Cuba. We will definitely return, and will book our trip through Friendly Planet again. I can recommend this trip to anyone that wants to see Havana and Vinales through the eyes of local people. Cuba is a beautiful country full of beautiful and friendly people. Like the song says.....half of my heart is in Havana.

We just returned from A Taste of India tour with Friendly Planet . (They use a local service in India) Overall a great value for the money. Hotels were nice and of a good standard and the hotel restaurants food was wonderful . Tour could be slowed down a bit ( see a few less places and spend more time in more interesting sights) But overall I highly recommend . We flew on Air India from JFK .

How do you end a call with "try to have a better day" with someone who just lost a love one? A tour director that is taking the easy way out by calling a guest instead of the family directly to have a conversation. My mother booked a bus tour/Norwegian Cruise tour with a group of old friends that was supposed to leave in September. Sadly, my mother recently passed away, but during the fight of her life she "missed" the cancellation day for Starr tours. Under these extenuating circumstances you would think a company would put people over profits. Not Starr tours. They are doubling down. When I called to plead with them a woman named Sandy kept referring to their policy instead of having compassion. She kept passing the buck saying it's not in her "scope" to make those kinds of decisions. When I asked to speak to someone who can make those decisions she decided to shield her bosses and say they aren't available. All she could end the conversation with was "try to have a better day." It was a cold conversation. Try to have a better day? I don't know how these people sleep at night. I hope their money keeps them warm at night. BTW Norwegian has a 30 day cancellation policy, so they have a chance to get money back out of this, but they clearly aren't working hard enough. I decided to take a trip to their company building to plead with them further. Sandy answered the door and reluctantly let me in after realizing who I was. I gave a copy of the death certificate and once again pleaded my case. I was given the same lip service, but that the person who could help me further wouldn't be in for the rest of the week. I patiently waited for a phone call from a Chris and still haven't received a call. If it's the same person this Chris called my mothers friend on the trip instead of me to let her know she would have to pay extra (over $1,300) for single occupancy on the trip OR we would have to find someone to buy my mothers trip (around $1,800). NO phone call to me as of yet. Also how do you do this to a grieving friend? They were friends for almost 60 years! How can these people be so cowardly? Where is the compassion? In the last few weeks I have had to deal with the unexpected loss of my mother and all of the funeral plans. Spending countless hours of time making the calls to various places to make them aware of her death and this company has the guts to do this. In the bio of the company the owner Sandy sounded so relatable. Her and her husband Pete had to fight, scratch and claw to keep their livelihood and company that her father built from the ground up alive during the pandemic. My mother fought so hard to save her life. I'm so sorry she couldn't call your company on time because she was too busy trying to live. In business you can't always point to policy. Beyond policy, how can you treat people like this and think it's ok? I hope the owner reads and fixes this because the staff is only making a terrible tragedy even worse! Don't force a grieving family to have to peddle my mothers trip. Do the RIGHT thing. Truly heartless and painful experience!

I've gone on two NKOTB cruises (2017 and 2023) and am not thrilled. The known problems seem to persist. And new problems are added each year. The on sale part has never been an issue for me. Neither has making monthly payments. And I've known others who have done name changes, sold their spots, etc. with no issues. What was a big fiasco this year was Rose Tours failing to turn over everyone's info to Carnival Cruises. Some folks got an email, some didn't (I didn't). Some folks found their Carnival info by logging in to their Rose Tours account (I did), others didn't and were unable to book anything through Carnival for days and weeks. This becomes a big deal when it comes to excursions, dining reservations, etc. And does it always have to be Carnival? It's the Walmart of cruises. The absolute worst ships and the absolute crappiest food. The upcharge for a chartered cruise with NKOTB is insanely ridiculous. A 4-day Carnival cruise to and from Miami with just one stop (and that stop is the private island of Half Moon Cay) runs around $115-$245 per person. The NKOTB cruise runs $1,900+ per person for the same days and itinerary. (I paid $2,638 this year.) Rose Tours claims the theater seating for the shows is based on booking time. This is absolutely false. I booked during the first presale. The email receipt from them is time stamped at 13 mins past the onsale starting. Yet, I was up in the balcony, row FF, seat 1. This meant I had a pole in front of me, the stage lights in front of me, and I could only see when someone was standing at the end of the stage. I, literally, couldn't see 85% of the game show. Completely ridiculous. Rose Tours needs to stop selling obstructed view theater seats at premium prices! And they'll do absolutely nothing to fix it either. The cruise gift this year was a lanyard and a tiny pack of gummy bears. And it was delivered late. Then on another night, some folks got a zip, little makeup bag. Some got a postcard. Some got both. Some got neither. It was completely disorganized and unfair. Also, skimpy. In 2017, we got a super nice bag, lanyard, etc. The group photos with NKOTB are an absolute shit show. It annoys NKOTB and it annoys the fans. And it takes the entire afternoon. Just assign everyone a time and spot. It doesn't need to be chaos and standing in line for hours. And the all-night deck parties need to go. Trying to cram 3,000 people in one little area of the ship is a disaster, not to mention a huge safety risk. Change it to more daytime events. Some Q&A panels, more game shows, anything else. For the love of god, stop selling cabins and other no theater access. The ship is overcrowded as is. No need to add to it. These cruises could be such a great experience. But Rose Tours needs to step it up.

Unless you are medically unfit, you can do this. Exceptional customer service sums up the team at Jim Thorpe River Adventures (aka LOC). They are extremely well organized which makes for a great trip. Everyone from the moment you enter LOC until the very end was polite, professional and wanted to make sure you have a great time. Some tips to follow: you only need to arrive 15 minutes before your group time, this allows ample time to get situated. Buy their pre-made lunch, it is well worth the 10 bucks, bring extra water on the raft (especially in the summer). Use the bathroom before you get on the bus (and be quick). They give you a dry bucket for your lunch and items, yes you can bring your phone in a dry pouch. Wear a hat and a sun shirt, it is hot and sunny, without much shade. Jump in the water when you have the chance !! If you are a "full figured" person it will be difficult to re-enter the raft, be aware. The trip down river is very safe and well organized. The guides are VERY safety aware ! If you are nervous and listen to them, the team will get you down the river without a hitch ! A few suggestions: don't go on a busy holiday weekend, it can get crowded on the river, the safety briefing takes a long time and you a sitting in the sun (remove your vest and drink water), during July and August I would imagine the water is very low and slow (if it is a dry summer)...best only if you want to have a relaxing rafting trip. Overall, a bunch of fun. The entire family had a great time.

The instructor got us ready for the tour by starting by her car that was located in the pay to park lot and she broke out toe warmers, hand warmers, and a couple of other warm weather items she offered before venturing into the park. This is highly advisable as my feet were freezing and I ended up putting hand warmers into my shoes as it was uncomfortably cold in normal sneakers. On to the birding adventure! We saw a species of hawk, one of the first birds I really got a good view at and I was surprised at the experience as the hawk had its back towards me for minutes on end, it was clearly scouring for prey and did not want to turn around for a better view for me lol. We used our Merlin app (birding app) to help identify some of the birds, but please do not use a birding call to draw birds closer to you as this is extremely frowned upon in the birding community as the birds have enough distractions and can tire themselves out looking for a call that was used from your phone. My girlfriend and I have a number of future trips planned at different parks. Follow me for more park reviews for birding in the immediate area. And as always people SYOY!!!

We were at the eastern-most point in Iceland, farthest we were getting from Reykjavik. We were told we could not return to the bus tour and were responsible for getting ourselves back to Reykjavik. Since there is no train, bus, Uber or rental car service where we were, we were pretty upset. Our tour guide thankfully arranged a taxi to drive all the way from Reykjavik to pick us up and return to the city, a 4 hour drive at a cost to us of $362 US. Back at the city, we needed to purchase 2 additional nights at a hotel, costing another $920 US. We missed 3 full days of touring, the other hotel rooms(already paid for), and the meals that were included. We were treated in a very ignorant manner, with absolutely no consideration of the consequences this decision had for us. Thankfully, our Covid resolved after 2 days of rest. The majority of people on the bus were coughing and I understand 2 more people were asked to leave. The rest on the bus were stifling their coughs, not wanting to get kicked off. How does Gate 1 justify taking all our money for the trip while we were left to spend more ? Why were we not compensated, at least in part, for our loss? I entered into a contract with Gate1 assuming they have a responsibility toward us as their customers. Sadly, they failed.
