My mom decided she needed a new watch and got a nice little Timex. Only problem was that the band that it came with was way too big for her small Asian wrist. She obviously needed it to be adjusted. Being the filially pious Chinese son that I am, I decided to help her out by finding a place that could help shrink her band. Of course, I turned to yelp. The search turned up a good listing of places near me, but the reviews for Friendly Watch Repair were especially good. I took Mom there, and the watch tech, Darryl, was friendly as advertised. He also let us know that it would only be $5 to adjust the wristband! Wow, looks like the pandemic of inflation has failed to afflict Darryl's honest business. Whatever is inoculating his enterprise, it needs to be injected into our ailing economy asap. Darryl then worked on the band links patiently, removing them and letting my mom check the fit until she liked it. It took just a couple of tries and less then 10 minutes. Thanks, my fellow yelpers, for helping me find Darryl and Friendly Watch Repair! If it's not your go-to watch repair shop, it should be. It's certainly mine. And somebody please get a DNA sample of the shop so we can create an anti-inflation serum for rest of the country.

Been looking for a watch repair place and popped in here. The owner was very friendly and basically discouraged my repair. I appreciated the honesty.

Darryl is a talented and experienced watch repairman with a grounded, practical approach and great positive attitude. I brought quite a few of my vintage watches in and he was able to diagnose and fix all of them at a reasonable cost. He told me what each watch was worth in the current market to put my repair costs in perspective to help make a decision. The repair work was done quickly and perfectly and all of my watches keep beautiful time. For Bay Area watch repair of all kinds, for watches of modern or vintage manufacture, this is the place to go. It's called "Friendly Watch Repair," and he really is very friendly!

I walked in without an appointment, and the owner helped me right away. He changed my battery in less than 5 minutes. The price was super reasonable with no extra charges (but please remember to tip). He was very knowledgeable about watches and provided excellent service. Highly recommend!

I recently purchased a Seiko 5 online and needed to get the watch adjusted to my wrist and have links taken out. I called Darryl at Friendly Watch Repair. He is fast, reasonably priced, and did a great job. I definitely recommend coming here for your watch repair.

Apple told me the logic board was bad and quoted me around $500 for a repair. I thought I was going to have to buy a whole new phone. I decided to get a second opinion from My Emergency Guy, and I'm so glad I did. They took the time to diagnose the problem, explained everything clearly, and repaired my phone for much less than Apple's quote. The communication was honest, professional, and straightforward the whole time. They even applied the diagnostic fee toward the repair, which I really appreciated. However, because I work in the technology field, I felt it was important to share my experience after taking the time to look further into the situation and to help others going through a similar situation. Initially, I did not jump to conclusions. Instead, I sought additional opinions from other professional recovery companies to better understand available options. That's most important. Before posting this review, I reached out directly to Emergency Guy to give them an opportunity to address my concerns and provide clarification. Unfortunately, I did not receive a response. I came to Emergency Guy seeking guidance after experiencing issues with my HDD and SSD. Overall, the staff and technicians were respectful. However, I did have one interaction with an individual staff member who appeared overwhelmed and frustrated - possibly the owner, Phillip? While that affected the tone of that particular interaction, I understand that these situations can happen. It did not deter me from my overall experience, as I continued working with other staff members who were professional and helped improve the overall tone of the communication. I paidfor an evaluation and assessment, including shipping costs. During a follow-up phone conversation, I was asked over the phone whether I would consider increasing my budget to approximately $2,000 so the HDD could be sent to another company. While I was open to discussing available options, I ultimately decided not to proceed. Approximately four weeks later or longer, I was informed that the HDD platters were damaged and that there was essentially no realistic chance of recovering my data, even through another recovery provider. I was also asked whether I wanted the drive recycled, which I understood as disposing of the device, and I chose not to proceed with that option. I sought additional professional opinions. After receiving a second and third evaluation from other data recovery companies, I was advised that the condition of the HDD did not appear to match the assessment I had originally received. This experience raised concerns about the accuracy of the initial evaluation. Since I paid it, I expected a clear and accurate diagnosis of the drive's condition, along with realistic information regarding possible recovery options. My concern is not that recovery was uncertain -- I understand that data recovery can be complex and that outcomes are never guaranteed. My concern is that I was told it was beyond recovery, yet further evaluations resulted in my data being successfully recovered. My advice to anyone going through a similar situation is to seek multiple professional opinions. I chose Emergency Guy because I believe in supporting local businesses, and I appreciate the services they provide. However, when dealing with important data recovery decisions, it is always wise to consult other qualified professionals. If something does not feel right, take the time to ask questions, gather information, and get additional opinions before making a final decision. If someone becomes dismissive with questions - that's a sign to move on immediately.

They were able to complete this in half a day and I picked it up next morning. Odometer on my 2001 Toyota Camry was having issues on high temp days that cause the odometer to not display and the speedometer to remain only at zero. It seems to be a common issue with older 1997-2001 Camrys and the solution was to replace with a new resistor (I tried replacing the VSS, transmission solenoids, spark packs/wires/plugs, new alternator and battery) per a video on YouTube. They did a great job with the soldering of the new resistor and I put the odometer/speedometer back together and into the car with no issues. Now to see if this resolves my Camry issues! Big thank you to Andrea for her prompt replies to my questions and Carlos for ensuring that the techs knew what needed to be done!

The staff is usually helpful, and turnaround times are pretty quick. However, my last experience was really disappointing. I brought in my DualSense controllers to fix analog stick issues and paid $100 to repair three knobs. Just one week later, I had the exact same issue with one of the supposedly repaired sticks. When I brought it back, I was charged an additional $60 to fix what should have already been resolved. What's most frustrating is that I couldn't get a clear explanation as to why I was being charged again for the same issue. If a repair doesn't hold up after a week, that should fall under some kind of workmanship guarantee--not an additional charge. I want to continue supporting this business because I've had good experiences in the past, but this situation felt unfair and left me questioning the quality and accountability of the repairs.
