I'd recommend checking their website and calendar and going as soon as they open at 10:45am. Bring cash. The website says "Seating in the dining room is currently not available" but we were able to sit when we arrived so I guess their policy changed.

Great service at lunch yesterday! A delightful surprise! I've been going to Friendly's since I was a kid and it has always been a joke in our family and among most New England friends that Friendly's service is always terrible regardless of location - but not in Florence, MA with Amelia as a waitress! Amelia was fabulous - friendly, attentive, and really helpful. When I asked for my burger on bread/toast instead of bun, she made an extra effort to talk to her manager and came back asking if I wanted the burger sandwich grilled and with mayo. This is EXACTLY what I wanted - the old "Big Beef Cheeseburger Special" I loved as a kid but was no longer on the menu. So kudos to Amelia for consulting and to Vanessa (the manager) for knowing what I was looking for and to both of them for going the extra mile to make me happy! I will prolly still joke about the traditionally bad service at Friendly's (I've had 50 years of it), but now I will add "... except in Florence with Amelia!" read more

I used to get take out from this Friendly's quite often. I get take out because the service is pretty bad. You can often hear the employees yelling and cursing behind the scenes. I never got ice cream here because I could see the waiters and waitresses would handle money, or pick something up from the ground and go right to making ice cream and touching toppings with their bare hands. I never got sick from the food so I assume the chefs are sanitary. Recently, however, I've seen the bald guy (I'm not sure if he is the owner or the manager) harassing his female employees. Twice before I have heard him make lewd comments and jokes towards the girls that work for him. Most recently I watched him nudge a male customer to point out the rear end of an clearly underage looking employee, who was bending over to pick something up. I walked out without getting my food that time. This behavior is disgusting. Please do not visit this restaurant. read more
