We had such a wonderful experience here from start to finish. The hostess greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel immediately welcome. While our table was being set up outside, we enjoyed a drink at the bar--the 15-minute wait was absolutely worth it. The outdoor setting was beautiful, with greenery creating a relaxed summer vibe and live music playing under a small tent, adding to the atmosphere. Our server was equally delightful--friendly, attentive, and spot-on with recommendations. Now, the food: outstanding. We started with the beets and peas salad, which was bursting with flavor--our plates were practically licked clean. The house arugula salad was crisp, fresh, and perfectly balanced with a light, lemony vinaigrette. For mains, we shared the roasted half chicken and the bucatini. Both were phenomenal. I rarely order chicken at restaurants since it often feels too plain, but this one was perfection--crispy skin, juicy meat, and seasoning that carried through every bite. The bucatini, made with homemade pasta and loaded with crispy pancetta, was absolutely irresistible. We lucked onto this gem during our recent visit to Northampton after reading glowing Yelp reviews. The reviews didn't lie but none of the previous ones also had the experience enhanced by Annie, our stellar server. She could not have been better, from her attention to detail to the great recommendations she knocked it out of the park. As for the food, it exceeded expectations. We split the kale salad and Caesar salad because I wanted my BF's kale salad. We both ended up ordering the ricotta dumplings and I took a good portion back to the hotel for a midnight snack. My pictures include an empty plate. Out of curiosity I had Annie run through the dessert selections and, as a result, I might be headed back for dessert and a glass of Prosecco. 5 stars for the restaurant and another 5 for Annie. What a delicious, fresh restaurant! The burrata was exceptionally well-balanced and tasted like Fall itself. The ricotta dumplings were unctuous and indulgent but in the most heavenly way. The only downside was the newly added bucatini, which was very salty and lacked depth. The service was a bit slow but our server was kind and gracious, especially when we relayed our review of the bucatini. Overall, you can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the love cooked in. My daughter and I were walk-ins without reservations. We were lucky to be seated at chef's counter with a great view of the smoothly humming open kitchen on a busy Friday night. We came here for dinner before heading home to central MA. Unfortunately I wasn't too hungry, but when I tasted the pasta dish we had here I was blown away and we easily polished it off. The meatball was good but not extraordinary. The octopus and potato appetizer was yummy but you can't really screw octopus up. The rye mafalde was this beautiful vegetarian cacio e Pepe that blew our minds. We are the type to always get a pasta with meat or seafood. When our waiter recommended this dish, we weren't expecting that much. It was so incredibly tasty and everything including delicate texture of the pasta, the sweetness of corn and pea shoots, and the cheese and lemon harmonized well together. Just...wow. If you are in Northampton, in Western, MA, or even within a short plane ride of Homestead, you have to go. Likely the best meal I've had all year and a top 10 in my lifetime of (casual) New England foodie-ism. We didn't have Saturday night reservations but figured we might luck out by arriving shortly after they opened (around 5:20p). We were greeted by the host (and our server for the night) Cam who was an absolute ace. He was warm, helpful, and shared that while they were all booked with reservations, he could offer us two seats at the chef's table looking into the open kitchen. What a treat! The dining room ambiance seemed lovely and low-key, but I think we got the best seats in the house. The chefs were masterful--so much fun to watch and very gracious in our brief interactions. The drinks were top notch. I ordered the Feather Duster Crusta which was delicious and layered. My partner ordered the "Chai Noon" which was to-die-for--for cocktail fans, this drink is worth the visit alone. The body is fresh and fruity but topped with sweet and spicy chai foam(!!!). We'd never tried anything like it. A truly singular drink. We ordered the maple roasted squash tapa which was autumnally delicious. Our main courses were also superb: I ordered the best cacio e pepe I've ever had with sweet corn and pea sprouts. My partner got the confit duck leg with roasted apple, caramelized onion & fennel, farro, thyme, rosemary cider glaze. Our experience was made truly exceptional by Cam's charming, prompt service and the professionalism of every team member with whom we interacted from the front to the back of the house. We visit Northampton every year and Homestead will now be our only "must see" staple from here on out. read more

The manager here does not know the meaning of hospitality and chooses to demean his customers. We ordered our dinner which proceeded to take an hour to come out. They brought out bread admitting the time and it proceeded to take even longer. For other context, tables by us that ordered the same entrees after us were already done eating at this point. When we alerted the wait staff we would like to pay the check and leave, we were told okay and she would be right back. The manager came back and instead of trying to talk with us and understand the situation - tried to say our timing of events was incorrect and that if we wanted faster service we could go to McDonalds. Absolutely unacceptable and can't believe we were treated this way. We left and still had to pay for our drinks, appetizer, and part of the meal we didn't even eat just so he would stop arguing with us at the table. He could learn from being less defensive and more open to ensuring his customers have the right experience. read more

Under duress, I returned last night and was very surprised to find that the fee was removed. Instead, the waitress explained that there was an extra line on the bill that was completely optional for money that would go directly to the back of the house. Although I still think they should raise their prices to ensure employees receive an equitable wage, this extra solicitation is far better than before. The food was outstanding. And so was the service. We ended up having an extra last minute 5th (me) for a reservation for 4. What an Absolute Wonderful Place this is. We are from out of state and found this Great Place. We were delighted to see that they had outside dining so we could enjoy the nice cool evening. Our Wonderful Time all started with a server named ANNIE. Annie is a real life Treasure. This young lady Hustles and got our drinks out side to us Very FAST as we were deciding on what to eat. Annie Helped us out by recommending items she had personally eaten and she was totally correct in her recommendations. The food was delicious and was not your typical type of restaurant food. To the credit of their Chef's Creations they blended different types of things in salads and meals you don't normally see. These blended items gave their food a unique flavor. Annie made sure that we were constantly taken care of even though she had to move from outside to inside to care for customers. I really Hope the owners reads this post about their restaurant because it was totally because of our initial meeting with our delightful Server Annie. Just this past weekend, I was in town for a family function. There was about 8 of us looking to have a nice sit down dinner before our event on Sun. I called Sat at 4pm and the restaurant was very accommodating to make 7pm reservation work with our party size. The service was wonderful. The food was superb and drinks excellent. The burrata dish and the dunk confit was super delicious. The olives were very tasty. The cheesecake was pretty amazing. The one item that my aunt ordered that we all loved watching it get made was the Absinthe after dinner drink. Cody the bartender was super nice to make it at the bar while we watched and explained everything in it. Overall, this place was a wonderful place to eat with a big family and we all left very happy & satisfied. So if you're from outa town visiting, I highly recommend this nice, chic & hip place. The food here is incredible. If you're in doubt about what do get- the mafalde is always awesome. Whipped ricotta app is also very good always. Service is A- but that's not a bad thing- it's a large space and I think servers are just busy. A- is still and A. I've never seen one of their servers just standing around! The drinks are wonderful (in my head I was singing 'wonderful' as I wrote that. We had the ricotta and honey - oh grrrl that was heavenly. The citrus salad left me wanting more. The Brussel sprouts weren't all that, but the meatballs were yummy, and the shishito peppers didn't disappoint. Not really clear why this restaurant has a 3.9 stars. I'm very picky and as far as I'm concerned the food is always fresh. The wait staff is always welcoming and efficient. The drinks are also very good. The one issue is it's a bit noisy because of the acoustic build of the space. Otherwise, I am a local person to this restaurant and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to people who live here as well as people who are a visiting. We came here because we ran into the owner and I guess he was good at selling the concept to us--fresh/make their own pasta, locally sourced ingredients, etc. they had mafalde on the menu so I was immediately sold. My husband and I were in town for a wedding one weekend so didn't get to have many meals in Northampton, but this was definitely the/one of the best ones we had. Initially was a little meh on the idea since I love large portions and some of the pastas are a little under entree size, BUT after eating there I have no complaints! Everything tasted really good--got the bucatini and two of the specials. Pasta had good texture and flavor. Also they are different--we had this big ravioli type thing with a duck egg that was fab. Really good dining experience also. Coffee was good as is the house wine which is only maybe $6 a glass. I definitely recommend. The owner also has this store called provisions that is close by and has a lot of good food--we got prosciutto, really tasty cheese, and wine. Apparantly Homestead is the third eatery at this address, the first being our long-time favorite, Ibiza Tapas Wine Bar. We mised owner, Juan's Farm to Table transition from Ibiza, which closed before we had the chance to try it. So not knowing the new Homestead was not the Farm to Table we expected, but a brand new owner/chef, Jeremey Werther venture of American/Italian/ and yes, tapas--known these days as small plates. So, we were game. It was my birthday. I had requested Juan's place, and was fine trying out Jeremy's place. The menu is inviting, and I had decided on the kale salad, but was early on warned by our server, Kyrie, that some menu items weren't available since it was Sunday and they are closed on Monday so when they run out, they don't want to replenish. Of course, one of the unavailable items was the kale salad. Okay, so I ordered the daily stuffed pasta special, which was a pureed carrot and turkey in a kind-of rectangular ravioli shape with, amazingly, rhubarb and tiny purple grapes adorning the plate, along with some shredded pieces of turkey. The flavor was excellent, and the rhubarb and grapes an inventive, creative touch. My husband ordered the ricotta pasta balls with spicy Italian sausage and a very good pasta sauce. Both entrees were served in bowls, and were a modest portion size for the full-sized entree section. The seemed in between a small plate and full entree size. Certainly we had nothing left over. We ordered the blueberry-topped cheesecake for dessert and it was creamy and delicious. So why am I not raving about the place? It is hard to put my finger on. Our server didn't seem very enthusiastic about serving. She was competent enough, but with only a couple of other tables filled at this early Sunday evening hour, we had the impression she was not a open to much verbal exchange. It wasn't unfriendly, but far from friendly. It was off-putting. I asked about the restaurant history and asked about Juan and she said he is not participating anymore. I asked if it was now owned by Jeremy, and she said a hearty yes to that. Again, she didn't really want to chat. Let's just say the food is fresh, creative and well-prepared, the value is there, the open kitchen a plus, and the menu selection quite pleasant. The service seems a bit stiff, and it did make us feel less than special. Maybe I am more sensitive about it being a birthday meal, maybe I miss the warm reception we always had from Juan. I cannot say enough great things about this amazing place. If you haven't tried Homestead yet... go right now. We called literally day of to get a party of 6 for my moms birthday. I honestly had accepted the fact it probably wasn't happening - on a Saturday night nonetheless. But Jeremy, the owner, took the time to take my number down, move stuff around and follow up with me. He got us in and was even able to accommodate 8 people (2 more than we had originally expected). I was honestly so impressed before I even walked in the restaurant. The service is outstanding. The team work in that place is incredible. Every.single.person is friendly and makes you feel welcomed. I am truly beyond impressed. The food was out of this world. Everything that hit the table was a huge success. I cannot recommend Homestead enough. I'm sure throughout the year, thousands of people walk through their door celebrating something. I mean this so truly when I say they made us feel like we were the only ones in there. They were attentive, easy to track down when we needed something, and quite honestly most of the time anticipated our needs even before we knew we needed something! Super yummy restaurant in downtown Northampton! My friends and I went to celebrate a birthday and it didn't disappoint. We shared the whipped ricotta & house-made focaccia, sweet potato pave, mafalde (pasta dish), and the special- a butternut squash and mascarpone filled pasta with roasted autumn squash. Homestead is definitely a special occasion restaurant for us, as the ambiance is nice, but the bill can add up quick, even without alcohol. We started with the whipped ricotta, which is a must order here. We also ordered a Shirley Temple, which was a deep purple, so that was delicious but a bit perplexing. The cherry was so good in this ST. I ordered the Mafalde, and my wife ordered the Rigatoni. I loved the Mafalde it had a light corny taste, almost like a salad. The Rigatoni was okay, but did not have a lot of flavor. This place is still a great spot when looking for somewhere a little more upscale to dine in Noho. P.S. Bring back the bucatini. read more
