Not your typical ice cream shop, not your typical coffee shop....it's better! First off - parking is plentiful because it's located adjacent to a church. Secondly - if you have small kids, ice cream and play for them, coffee (or both) for you - it's a win win. There could very well be a line during peak times, but it moves. The ice cream and coffee were excellent. If you are a fan of banana pudding - the ice cream variant was great. Tasty and creamy. The Horchatta latte impressed me. Mocha taste, cinnamon hint - creamy. Loved it. The iced cold water that came out of the glass container - even that tasted great for a palate cleanser refresh. The shop is clean, the customer service is great. This coffee/ice cream shop way exceeded my expectations. To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect when this place first popped up. I was looking for new coffee shops in the area, and this popped up one day. Coffee and ice cream- two things I loved! When I first got there, I was a little bit confused because gps took me to a church parking lot, but I quickly realized that the coffee shop was connected to the church/school and had a separate entrance. The space was quite large, clean and tidy, and they had a great variety of coffee. The owner is well versed in craft coffee and I was elated that they had pour overs that used specialty beans. The coffee snob in me was overjoyed and I spent a good amount of time talking with the owner over this. In my conversation, I learned that the coffee shop and ice cream shop hires on adults with special needs and gives them an opportunity to learn skills and earn a living wage as well. All their proceeds go to supporting that ministry as well. Their ice cream is also yummy, affordable, and a great value. Perfect for a hot summer day! read more

What a gem! The place is on the Kingsland Baptist Church property, right next to the playground. It is nice and clean and nicely decorated. I went when it was a bit chilly out and noticed that they also sell coffee and hot cocoa. However, I opted for ice cream. The young lady offered samples. I tried the berries cheesecake, it was a little too tart for my taste. I also tries the biscoff and caramel and got a double scoop of it on a waffle cone. I'm still dreaming about it. Not only is this establishment's mission clear and supportive of one of the most vulnerable populations in our city, but everyone working here is so kind! We were initially attracted to come try this place out because of the playground we can see driving by on Kingsland blvd. We walked in after lunchtime on a weekday and it was pretty empty, so it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. We tried the croissants and they were delicious! My 4 year old loved serving herself water from their self-serve water station. We easily spent about 1.5-2 hours outside on the playground. The soft flooring and turf really helped out with having a new walker and both girls being sufficiently entertained. There are some lawn chairs & a fountain out front by the street entrance to the shop, but we stayed mainly in the playground area. Straight up delicious!! Everything is handmade and tastes so. The waffle cone is heavenly, nutty, sweet, and honey taste. Strawberries and milk was perfectly sweet with homemade ice cream texture. This place is inside the Kingsland Baptist Church. It has ice cream, coffee and hot cocoa and also has an attached playground outside. The staff was incredibly welcoming, explaining the menu and then chatted with us after we got our items about how the store hires and benefits adults with special needs. The woman talking to us said everyone who works there has some sort of special need. And she also said their ice cream is made in house and with the best ingredients which I can vouch for because that vanilla is the best I've ever had. I felt so warm speaking with her as she talked to us about our children we had with us. There is also a prayer request box and wall where you can write a prayer down and employees and I assume other patrons will come pick one up and pray for you. I'm so glad to see they're finally on Yelp. I've been here several times and I have a great experience every time. I heard about this place from a local community page. What first drew my attention to this place is their mission and how they support people with special needs. I have a little sister who has special needs so I thought this was really cool and I was excited to support a place like this. But it's even better because this place is great across the board. You're greeted by friendly staff as soon as you walk in who are happy to help answer any questions about their drinks and ice cream. They also offer samples. All their ingredients are fresh and good quality. The ice cream is made fresh daily. You can really taste the difference in the quality of all their products. The prices are very reasonable especially for the quality of everything. They rotate flavors so you will have the chance to try a wide variety of things each time you come here. It's very clean inside and there's plenty of seating. They even have a cute little table and chairs for little kids. There's board games you can play too. One of the things I love is their prayer wall. There are little tags you can write a prayer on and hang it for the Friends Crew to pray for. It's so sweet! They're attached to a church so you enter the building of the church to get to the cafe but it's really easy to see from the parking area. Bonus for parents - there's a playground attached to it too so kids can burn their energy after their sugar rush from their ice cream. Even better because they have things built that are intended to make it accessible for individuals with special needs also. When my family comes to visit from out of state, I will definitely be bringing my sister here. I know she will love it. My son loves coming here. It's the perfect place for me as a mom because I can grab a coffee or a sweet treat and my kiddo can also get something and have the chance to play after. The ice cream is high quality and there are many unique flavors. Friends has expanded their coffee menu from when they first opened. They have a good cold brew, pour over, and lattes. Today I got their iced latte with their homemade vanilla cream. It's not too sweet which is great. The service is friendly and helpful. They are very attentive to their customers.
