    The owners/pastry chef!

We are camping at Stephen F. Austin State Park and they must have just shocked their water system with chlorine - the coffee we made was undrinkable. Googled coffee and came across Milk & Brew and picked it because it wasn't a chain. Best decision - y'all this place is great. They just opened three days ago! The owners are so nice, the pastries are 10/10, and the coffee is really good (we just got black coffee so can't rate the fancier drinks but they have a great selection). It's clean, and simple and comfortable inside as well. If you are anywhere near here, or just driving through - it's super easy access from I-10 - stop by, say hi, and support this new business.

    Rotating drink selection.

Open 5:30-4:00 PM 6 days/ week. Closed Sundays Freshly ground coffee and friendly staff. They were fairly busy but kept the wait very short. Looks like they have a rotating monthly selection similar to Starbucks. Tes selection is very limited. Strawberry Matcha was good. Not too sweet. They offer a rewards program.

My husband and I stopped here this afternoon on our way to Dewberry Farms for a quick coffee. The owners were incredibly friendly and the service was great. I was recommended the honey lavender latte with cold foam and my husband got their nitro cold brew. Both were delicious! We also ordered a strawberry cream cheese danish before leaving that was great as well. We'll definitely be back again!

    Strawberry truffle mocha

Love to support a small business coffee shop! I got one of the drinks of the month for April, the strawberry truffle mocha. It was very good! I also got the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast tacos and a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant. The tacos had a lot of filling in them. The staff was very friendly as well. We will be back to try more!

Love Milk and Brew! Great coffee and super friendly staff. The avocado toast is delicious and a must-try. Definitely a go-to spot!

Arguably one of the greatest foods ever invented. Atleast in my world. How can you go wrong with bread filled with sweet or savory fillings? Hruska's is about halfway between Houston and Austin and a perfect rest stop to fill up on gas, use the clean facilities, grab a snack or indulge in their amazing baked goods. They are steeped in history and have been around for decades passing along the family recipes. It's obviously improved structurally over the years from a country store and looks like a modern gas station now. It's always pretty busy every time I have stopped in, but they are a well oiled machine and keep the masses moving with excellent customer service. They have all your gas station essentials like snacks and beverages. What sets them apart is their bakery. Here, they label their kolaches as the traditional fruit filled variety. I like them, but they are never my first choice. I love the ones with meat inside. Here, they label these as pigs in a blanket. They have a large variety of both. I usually go for a regular sausage and cheese, but over here, they sell a delicious pan sausage kind. On top of all their sweet and savory baked goods, they also sell burgers on the grill. Their burgers have made it to the Texas Monthly Top 50 burger spots. I have yet to try it. Overall, this is an always stop place for me. I highly recommend stopping here to stretch your legs and enjoy a delicious pastry while you're at it. I will definitely be back.

We arrived and sat outside due to having a dog, beating the small waitlist they had of people wanting to eat inside. Feels like it gets busy there so be prepared to wait (they don't take reservations). The interior and outside areas are clean and simple, ordering was also fast too. Our server was attentive and quick, although she did make a remark asking if one of our party was sure they wanted to order as much as they did. Ignoring that, ordering was smooth. We got their pancakes, French toast, a side order of bacon, side order of sausage, and ranch omelette with biscuits and grits. Everything was good but the standouts were the pancakes and omelette that were very filling and hit the spot. Not many brunch places can be consistently good across all dishes but Toasted Yolk certainly was. It's convenient, relatively cheap, and good food. It's a great way to set yourself up for a good rest of day shopping in the nearby area (which is exactly what we ended up doing.)

Since it was our first time, we were looking around for a server and wondering who to approach. When the waitress finally came over, we greeted her politely. She responded, but then added an unwelcoming comment: "Are you just here or have you been waiting? If you just got here, please be patient." That really threw me off. As someone who has worked as a server before, I would never speak to customers that way. It felt unnecessary and rude. To make things worse, when our food arrived, I noticed what looked like a small metal piece (possibly a wire or bristle) on the plate next to the bacon. That's a serious food safety concern and very alarming. When the server came back, she didn't apologize or acknowledge the issue at all, which made the experience even more disappointing. Overall, between the poor service and the issue with the food, I was very disappointed. After this experience, this restaurant is now on my blacklist. I won't be returning.

The casual, open space was inviting and the place was spotlessly clean. However, the customer service was just average. I wanted an egg and cheese biscuit with gravy and asked if I could replace the bacon in the Bacon, Egg, Cheese Biscuit with the shiitake mushroom gravy. However, the gal at the counter said no so I ended up ordering the spinach, egg, and goat cheese biscuit and had to order a side of shiitake mushroom gravy. She wouldn't even let me switch out the goat cheese for cheddar cheese. Needless to say, service was not the most accommodating or helpful. My lunch date ordered the chicken and waffle and gave it a 4/5 rating. The chicken was crispy but the waffle was more on the dense side. The biscuit was also dense, more so than fluffy. It was baked golden brown and had a slightly crispy exterior which was the best part. The inside didn't pull apart into delicate layers. Instead, it crumbled when I forked through it to get a piece. I'd give it a 4/5 rating. I thought the shitake mushroom gravy was very good and give 5/5. I'm just happy they make a vegetarian-friendly gravy. I also like that have fresh squeeze orange juice on the menu.

Everything we ordered was absolutely DELICIOUS and packed with flavor. It's hard to pick just one dish to recommend, but if I had to, I'd say the cauliflower bites were my fav and are a definite must try. Perfectly seasoned with a little spicy kick. The beignets were another standout...light, crispy, and not overly sweet; plus it came with a little dipping sauce. I had the kale and mushroom pasta dish which was heaven for this pasta-loving girl. It was fresh and full of bold flavors. You could taste the quality of the ingredients in every bite (and the added shrimp were HUGE). Don't forget to grab a matcha latte. I had the lavender flavor and it was the perfect balance of sweetness. Highly recommend as well.

When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, and I will say our server was very nice and welcoming. One thing we immediately noticed, though, was that the menu prices were crossed out and changed. The waitress explained that prices have been fluctuating, but it did feel a little unpolished and confusing seeing gouged-out pricing on multiple items. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla, and my wife got the South of the Border omelet. We also had the roasted potatoes, which ended up being a very small portion. My main issue was that several items listed (or expected) didn't come as described. The quesadilla was supposed to come with sour cream and pico, but they weren't served on the side. We were told the pico was inside the quesadilla, which wasn't noted on the menu. Additionally, both dishes had raw, unsautéed onions mixed into the scrambled eggs. That wasn't listed in the description, and I personally don't like raw onions, so it definitely affected the meal for me. I think ingredients like that should be clearly stated. The cheese sauce tasted like standard heated nacho cheese and was very runny, not what we expected from a breakfast dish. The sour cream also tasted off. Overall, while the service was friendly, the food and menu presentation didn't meet expectations. Unfortunately, we probably won't be returning.
