First went to La Argentina years ago at their Westheimer location. Now going to their Katy location, and their gelato still hits! Small shop; looks cute & feels cozy. The gelato is stored in metal tins with a lid! Sampled a few flavors and decided on biscoff cream (had a strong cinnamon base) & striaciatella in a small cup. The service was fast and friendly even though they had a never ending line coming in at 7:45 pm on a Sunday night. Muy bien! This place is legit! It's a Buenos Aires styled gelato place with empanadas! We got the dulce de leche gelato- it was creamy and smooth. They sell San Antonio dulce- somehow they have sugar free, which I don't understand. We loved, loved, loved the gelato! The empanadas were handed over cold, with instructions on how to heat them up. (We ate their gelato and empanadas for the Argentine World Cup!) Muy authentico! This cafe was super clean and inviting. The staff was bilingual, and the location is handicapped accessible. They were super happy to serve us up, especially when we were rooting for Messi! They have a special deal where if you buy so many, you get some free- absolutely worth checking out. I love this place the gelato is delicious. But I just bought some for my husband and I and we found TWO hairs (very long hairs) buried deep inside the salted caramel ice cream. I've been here before. The gelato is good. The place is tucked in a busy road but theres ample amount of parking. The store is cute and well lit. The stars is for the food. The servers were nice but they don't allow you to try any of the flavors. The main issue I have is that the server didn't wear any gloves before she serve me..i'm not sure the other server did either. I didnt bother eating the wafer it came along with. After serving me, she proceeded to refill a bunch of cookies that were on display without washing her hands or wearing gloves again. Just be weary when you order. I'm not a germ-a-phobe but for the sake of all that is sanitary, why not use the gloves you have lying behind you...or at least wash your hands. Don't think we'll be back here again. read more

We got a medium cup with a scoop of pistachio and a scoop of chocolate nuts. The scoops were HUGE. A medium was bigger than my toddler 's head (she has a big head) and was $6. I think this place could be my new favorite. I absolutely love gelato, and the quality and flavors of these were all unique and fantastic in their own way. This place is right next to a Mexican restaurant, when you walk in you are directly in the employee's faces. It's a small space and there is limited seating. You are able to sit outside also. the staff was open about letting me try many different flavors at a time. Place was very clean and they also serve sugar-free pops and different pastries! I had the pistachio ice cream and the Daniel's chocolate. Both absolutely delicious. I really like the pistachio, it's actually very difficult to master and I'm a snob about the pistachio flavors but you can taste the bits of pistachio inside the gelato. The Daniels chocolate had brownie bits inside, it was extremely rich but with the pistachio I think it really went well together. Their waffle crackers on top were thinner than the usual ones I would have, they have more flavor and are very yummy. the only negative that I would say is they give you a small scoop per flavor and maybe it is because I'm used to texas-sized scoops. PISTACHIO I really love the nutty/gritty texture of this flavor. It tasted as if the pistachios were grind up and mixed in. It was marvelous and so flavorful. The nutty flavor really came through. TIRAMISU This flavor was also really good. I could taste the liqueur and it was strong, but not overly strong where it overwhelms the whole flavor. I just like the punch of it and it was definitely there. The texture was creamy and it reminded me of biting into a legit tiramisu cake. STRACCIATELLA This was my least favorite flavor because the texture was too icy and the flavor was more on the sweet side. I did like the bits of dark chocolate mixed in, which helped balance out some of the sweetness, but it was still sweet. Overall, I would visit again. I really liked the pistachio and tiramisu. The waffle bit that they placed in was also really good. It was thin and very crispy. Flavor was great. It was light and perfectly sweet. read more

Great gelato! I've been here once and wouldn't normally right a review until a third or fourth visit. However this was the best gelato I have ever had and felt I should rave about it. The shop is sitting on the edge of no where. Just a block away from a busy intersection and two plazas that have never been able to attract enough business. Still, there was a good sized line of people, all trying to decide what to get Me? I new I wanted Pistachio and so was invited to the front of the line. OMG this was good! A natural colored with bits of crushed pistachio gelato. A dream. The shop offers free wifi and some other good stuff. But we settled on a large with three flavors - pistachio, guava, and marscapone raspberry. First of all, the large is huge! For $7 we shared among 4 people and has plenty. I loved the pistachio - it was full of nut pieces and natural flavor. The guava TASTED LIKE GUAVA. Like, actually guava. Many people may be unfamiliar with guava, but I've had the fresh ones in Asia and the flavor was perfect. Finally, the marscapone raspberry was a solid flavor and great texture. The coffee was a bit more subtle but easily as good. There didn't seem to be quite as many flavors available as were listed on their pages but that wasn't a stopping point. Regardless, Argentina Gelato is ridiculously good. So good that after going, we were already negotiating for when we were going to go back. They had a large selection of flavors including three chocolates each is better than the last. One which is specifically good is the "Daniels Chocolate." It's rich and fudgy. Not what you'd expect from gelato at all. Their coffee game is on point as well and last time I went there were small macaroons. Get a chocolate flight and then ask for more. My family and I vacationed in Amsterdam several years ago, and our favorite memory was the Gelato shop on the corner of our canal. We stopped there every day for a week. So today, when we saw La Argentina, we knew we had to stop and try it.
