Erin, Lydia and their team made the process simple, efficient and smooth. After the assessment process, a caregiver that was perfectly matched to my family member was put in place. The family portal allows for us to view the caregiver's comments and see the schedule. The Care Coordinator contacts us frequently to ensure that no changes need to be made and I am able to contact her anytime with questions and/or concerns. There is a staff member at the Angela Waterford hospice facility who is horrible. The first night I…read morearrived after-hours, frazzled and heart beating in my chest, she coldly opened the doors for me when the automatic opener didn't work, then coldly marched down the long corridors in silence- obviously annoyed that she had to leave her desk. I have caught her gossiping negatively with other staff members who, though mostly lovely, seem intimidated and unduly influenced by her military style meanness. There is very little family support at the Waterford facility (grief counseling once a month) and adding an unwelcoming, unkind personality to the mix during an already stressful and surreal experience is too much to deal with. There's a reason for the saying ''one bad apple spoils the bunch.'' She seems to be a ringleader... and her energy is a downer.

I am former military, have been injured for eight years, and have received physical therapy from the Navy, multiple establishments out of state, and multiple establishments local (Westland, Canton area). This is the ONLY establishment with physical therapists who are truly knowledgeable, with multiple physical therapists at this location having 10+ years of experience. The negative review mentioned lack of attentiveness but I assure you that is not the case at this location at all. It is beautiful inside, spacious, they have a lot of equipment that other establishments wouldn't even know how to use, and are very, very personal. I believe the physical therapists here are very friendly, welcoming, and have a great sense of humor. It removes the angst of feeling like you're going to a dreaded doctors appointment, and makes it feel like you're going to hang out with people who care about you all while getting better physically in the process! I have attended four appointments at this location so far, after receiving a right hip arthroscopy with a labrum repair surgery. I did not expect to feel so confident in my recovery, and to already see progress in my mobility, but here we are! I can personally vouch for Shujat, he is an incredible Physical Therapist who has answered all of my questions with ease and wisdom. As far as the other Physical Therapists, I have spoke to them in passing and have seen their work with patients first hand and can say with full faith - that they, too, are wonderful. DO NOT HIRE COMPASSUS FOR HOSPICE! From the first meeting with the nurses, to the nurse that came 3…read morehours after my mother had passed, you can tell this company, and the staff, are just another business making money in the health care industry. There is no care, concern or empathy for the patient, nor the family. My mother was put on hospice 2 months before passing due to cancer and was at home. She was not bed ridden and was coherent until 3 days before her passing. Her wishes were that she stay home as long as her family could take care of her. Once on hospice, and after many times trying to confirm nurses' appointment times, a Compassus nurse finally showed up. She had a few visits at first, however, as my mother progressively worsened, and when we had questions, it seemed we could not get in contact with a nurse. My mother's health declined quickly. Myself and my family felt the staff were more concerned with letting us take care of her and not bother them. This progressed throughout our entire hospice journey with Compassus. In order to contact a nurse, you had to contact a call center. When my mother was in pain or I needed to speak to a nurse and called, I had to leave a message and wait for hours for a return call. By the time the nurse called back my family and I had to figure out how to medicate my mother and also take care of any of her needs. This also happened when requesting equipment or supplies. When the equipment arrived, like the oxygen, there were missing pieces so we were not able to use it. My family had to purchase needed hospital items as they were never delivered in time. When a nurse finally did show up, my mother was ignored like she was just some sort of object they had to take care of. They did however, speak to me to make sure myself and my family "read the hospice book". The first meeting with the caseworker was 3 days before my mother passed, as appointments were always changed and whenever a staff member was to come to the house they were a no show leaving my family waiting. While my mother was in progressively dying stage as the hospice book called it, I called the nurse and the call center requesting someone come out to help. After 48 hours of calling with no response as to when someone would be there, I was told by the nurse "I am 2 hours away and if I come now and your mother doesn't pass, I will have to go back and then come out again." Seems to me the staff has more concern for their own time than taking care of their patient. When my mother passed, with no Compassus staff being at the house for 3 days, I called the call center to let them know and the only response was "someone will get back with you" and they hung up. There was no concern or empathy for the patient or my family. I called back after 30 minutes to find out what steps were next and received the same response. Since I knew we had the funeral home set, I called them to find out what needed to be done. With no response from Compassus, after 2 hours, I had to finally call the local police department. When the police arrived they couldn't believe no one had contacted us yet and were disgusted also. The Officer called Compassus direct and received the same "someone will get back with you". This caused concern for the officers who then tried to contact a Compassus manager. After an hour back and forth on the phone, and over 3 hours after my mother passed, someone from Compassus finally showed up and pronounced my mother's death. It was disgusting how Compassus treated my family and especially the disrespect that was given towards my mother. I am not a person that complains, and I thank God that my family and friends were able to help me care for my mother on her last days. I am writing this review so other families do not have to go through this.
