I have visited Fringe about four times now, with services done ranging from ombre, to lowlights, and root color. Each time I have been very pleased with the service, atmosphere, and of course, the quality. Fringe is located in the heart of Penngrove and is easy to miss if you've never been there, but I think their lowkey location is why they're successful. I love Fringe because it is not one of those uppity salons that overcharges you and has a holier than thou attitude towards you and your hair. Fringe has an at-home feel and is attentive to your needs at a reasonable price. A few weeks ago, I saw Brittany at Fringe. I asked for a natural root color with a freshening up of my blonde highlights. She was able to do exactly what I wanted and it looked so healthy and beautiful when she was done! She was a great conversationalist and was extremely professional. I would recommend her in a heartbeat. Fringe is definitely one of the best kept secrets of Sonoma County salons. Nicole is AMAZING!!!!!!! She is also the owner of this adorable, fashionable, hip salon. She is also one of the hairstylists here and is sooo good at what she does. Nicole does all of my friends hair-- everything from cut, color, highlights, updo's, kid's hair cuts, keratin blowouts, whatever you want! I have really thick hair and love the way she thins out my hair. At other places I've had this done, they take a razor and really damage my hair or do a bad job and thin it out too much where my hair does weird flips or looks heavy on top and thin on the bottom. It's a tricky thing and Nicole does it PERFECTLY. I'm also impressed with her color/highlight skills. I'm Japanese and have dark hair, but she highlighted my hair without making my head look like tiger stripes. It's hard to get that natural highlight look on dark asian hair, but I'm really happy with the way she does it. Nicole is just awesome. She's such a sweetheart and you will love your hair after she works her magic ;) Highly highly recommend her. I drive all the way from the East Bay just to get my hair done by her! read more

I went once to Amy, not going back. Theh highlight was good however, I have curly hair and despite what I asked for I left with a hair cut more appropriate for someone with straight hair. She was nice and freindly, also took my appointment on short notice. It seemed she hadn't been doing hair very long. The others in the salon were very young, hip, type probably good if you are interested in something fashionalbe. Price was inexpensive under $80 for a cut and highlight Prices reasonable. read more

Jenna and Jenni were the hair stylists for my October wedding and they did an awesome job! I also was pretty blown away by how quick they were in doing six bridesmaids hair plus my bridal hair. I think we were all done in about 2 1/2 hours! Jenna was also very accommodating when I changed my mind about the style for the day of the wedding. Both gals were great at styling different types/textures/length of hair for my bridesmaids. They definitely brought my vision to life! It is $100 for travel fee (we were in Healdsburg). I do understand this is standard pricing, though, for the Sonoma County area (I'm so used to Chico pricing). I would also say that if you are not a regular client of one of the stylists at Fringe, they probably will turn you down for doing wedding hair. They are super busy even without doing clients' weddings...a sign of a good salon! read more

Lori has been doing my nails for years. She is the best with pink and whites. My nails always look perfect. I recently had to go almost four weeks without a fill and my nails still looked great. Jenna does my hair and she is great. I told her exactly how I wanted my color and she did exactly what I asked. My highlights blend wonderfully with my natural color and grow out nicely. This is an easy review for me to write since I've been getting my hair done by Jenna for years now. She is the best ever all around person and hair stylist, super intelligent, knows the right style for the right hair type etc. etc. BUT the reason I am writing this review is because I hired Jenna and Jamie to do my wedding hair and makeup. I wouldn't trust anyone else to do it. Everything came out PERFECT. From the bridesmaids to the mothers and even my own. I seriously am in awe of the two of them (And the rest of the Fringe staff) I've been a bridesmaid a few times, and usually there is one girl who complains about her hair or makeup and has to do touch ups... but NOPE not his day. Jenna Cretser is AWESOME! I've been having my hair done by Jenna for years. She does amazing color, and cuts. She makes suggestions, and listens to what I want or don't want. I've had long and very short cuts. The problem is that it's so hard to decide which cute cut/color I want each time because she does them all so well! Recently I had the Kerotyn treatment done......has saved me so much time I will be doing it regularly. I've had other services that are all amazing as well. From waxing, to gel nails. I am getting married in June. I am fairly new to the area so I asked my wedding planner to help me find a place to do my hair and makeup, as well as at least 5 of my bridesmaids. I was convinced to go here after reading the positive YELP reviews. After finding my own hair stylist, I decided I would still keep the girls at Fringe for my bridesmaids needs and I would go to my stylist for my own needs. Upon hearing this Jaime said they wouldn't be interested in working with us! She turned down 5, with a potential for 4-5 other clients, which is her loss. At $40-65+$25 travel fee and individual tips that's about $500-1000 worth of services she is missing out on. I am a local esthetician so I will make sure to not suggest Fringe, especially Jaime, for their hair and makeup needs. It's too bad peoples egos get in the way of their successes. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else for your bridal needs... You have enough to worry about as a bride, the last thing you need is dramatic over reactions from your styling team. read more

I went to Amy Payer because I just moved back home from college and my mom and sister see Amy and love her. So I went to see her to get a whole new style. Amy and I talked about what colors would look best on me and what styles would be most flattering. By the time I was done, I looked great, a whole new me. I used to drive to downtown Petaluma for cut and color. This process takes about 2 1/2 hours and most parking spots are for 2 hours or less. Kind of an issue when you hvae color in your hair or aren't finished with your stylist. And all of that if you even were able to get a parking spot. A friend recommended Amy at Fringe so I thought I would give her a try. Not only do I always get parking, there isn't a meter maid coming around to give me a ticket, it is actually closer to my house than going downtown. Best of all is that Amy is fantastic, my hair has never looked better. read more

I have heard lots of raves from female friends that go here and so I decided to see how they were with Men's cuts. Let me just say that Jamie Dotson(not to be confused with "anti-wedding"Jaime) is AWESOME! I gave her a sort of broad idea of what I wanted and let her fill in the gaps, that is the best way to see what a hair stylist is really made of. If they don't know what they are doing or don't have the confidence, you are in trouble. Jamie was not worried one bit! After a relaxing shampoo she got to work and created a masterpiece! She really knows how to make a guy look good. She even offered a final shampoo and conditioning, which I jumped all over(cuz I can't stand little hairs all over my face for the rest of the day). Real top notch hairstylist here people, so if you are new to the area, or are just looking to get a sweet cut, look no further and thank me later. read more
