The salon is great my wife always comes home looking like a model. so my wife recommended me to go get a haircut here from the barber shop that is attached to the salon. $50 for a sub par haircut is outrageous. My haircut requires no scissors. I understand there is rent and other cost to pay running a business. But $50 feels like theft for a ok haircut. I am still fairly new to Santa Rosa and I was skeptical of any new salon because I haven't been to a salon since 2018 so my hair was long with a crap ton of damage and split ends. I made an appointment with Carina and IM SO GLAD I DID! I got a hair treatment and haircut and it was only $130! She even styled my hair afterwards. Second review for this salon. Previously my boyfriend came during Covid and was seen by Andy whom has since retired. This time we both got haircuts. He got a great haircut from Dayton and I got a great haircut from Carina. I'm very picky when it comes to my fringe and she did a great job. We were both able to get in at the same time. I hesitate to leave a bad review, because maybe it's just my karma to always have a bad experience at a hair salon. I hadn't had a haircut since about 2012 because of the aforesaid string of bad experiences. The first thing I ask a hair stylist is whether they know how to cut naturally curly hair. I.e., do they know not to shampoo my hair before cutting it? They always say "yes," then immediately prove that the honest answer was "no." I also say I don't own a hair dryer and won't use hair products, so please give me a hair cut that works well with wash and air dry. My hair is now wavy, not curly, but it still needs to be treated like naturally curly hair. My experience at Daredevils & Queens wasn't any different than any other. My stylist washed my hair, then blew-dry it, which means she couldn't see any of the natural waviness. Then proceeded to cut it and then blow dry it again, and added a stinky product. So she ignored every one of my requests. And the hair cut she gave me, while marginally better than my self-cuts, was uninspired, unflattering, and demoralizing. I recently read there's a local salon that specializes in curly hair. I'll try them next. read more

I've only seen one stylist here -- Heidi Hoffman -- so I can't comment on everyone, but Heidi has been cutting my hair for years now. I have curly/wavy hair but don't like it to sproing up and look like a bad 80s perm. Heidi gives me the cuts I want, which tame the curl into waves (though my hair will still curl up when scrunched). I like novelty, though, so I often ask for a change of style. It's fun to go in and come out looking fresh! I will also say that Heidi's gentle shampooing, scalp massages, and new hair products are part of the pampering aspect. I let her blow it out however she wants so I can see how my hair could look, though I typically prefer just to let the haircut do most of the styling work for me after that. It's also been helpful for me to send her photos on my phone of styles I like and then we talk about how she could modify it for me, and how it would actually look on me (since even the best haircut isn't going to make me look 30 again). Keep in mind that you'll probably want to book 4-6 weeks in advance, as Heidi has a devoted following and you'll have competition to get one of her appointments. She's worth the wait! read more

Fun colors? Go to Mary. Mary has been doing my hair since 2016, and she has put up with my endless weird descriptions of what I'd like for my hair, including "electric watermelon" and "cooked salmon." She gets it right every single time. As my other manic pixie dream girls know, it's essential to have a stylist who supports your impulsive color changes while also talking you out of getting bangs. Mary has done both successfully for years, and I hope she will continue to forever. She hasn't fired me yet, and I want a different color every season, sometimes two. You might note that I do have bangs in one of these photos. Sometimes I don't listen and decide I really do need bangs even though Mary said not to get any. Let's just say I have decided to take things into my own hands-on more than one occasion. Mary has always been there to pick up the pieces, fix my bangs, and help me grow them back out. From fun colors to that one time I decided I wanted a balayage, then changed my mind a month later. Mary is my ride or dye hairstylist. She is an absolute angel, and I can't believe she's put up with me for all these years, but I am forever grateful. I would be remiss if I failed to mention that she must be some kind of wizard. I have gone to many different stylists in my life, and my hair has never been healthier than with Mary. With how often I change my colors it can only be described as magic. I've been coming here off and on for about ten years (off only when I lived out of the area) and this review is long overdue. I brought all of my groomsmen here the morning of my wife and my wedding and got styled out by half of their chairs (haircuts and beard trims). My wedding photos were on point. More about my experiences, I've been getting worked on by Kyle for a hot second and know I can get EXACTLY what I'm looking for in his chair. Let's be completely honest, the cost associated with getting your haircut here can be considered on the higher end, but the results are far beyond anything you find for a cheap walk-in haircut anywhere else. I just got cut up before flying back to VA for a family wedding and as the pictures show, Kyle knows what he's doing. Mary has been doing my hair consistently for years now. She understands the complexity of color and will tell me if my hair can't handle something. She does her best to get you the results you want without damaging your hair. As someone who has had not so great experiences in the past, I really appreciate that!
