I went to Tara after purchasing the Cruzon Daily Deal which gets you highlights, conditioning treatment, and a cut for only $55. Let me tell you, it was the best $55 I've spent in a long time. Now, I'm not a salon girl. I dye my hair with box dies, and being from San Francisco, I usually head straight to those $14 haircut places on Noriega or Irving. Just put in a few layers and I'm good to go. But I decided to splurge (if you could call it that) and let a trained professional handle my tresses. Tara was amazing! When picking the color of my highlights she knew exactly which colors would look good on me and explained to me how she would fade them and angle them so that they looked natural. The cut she gave me was fabulous! She was able to keep my length, remove all the dead weight, and put in the right amount of layers to give my hair movement and volume. Absolutely what I wanted. The conditioning treatment was amazing. A week later and my hair still feels softer and healthier than it has in years. After cutting my hair, Tara styled it beautifully. Admittedly, I am horrible at doing my hair. But I went out and bought a blow dryer (for the first time--I know, what kind of girl am I..) and a round brush in hopes of somehow learning to replicate what she did. After two disastrous haircuts, a close family friend referred me to Nicola Nordstrom at Fringe. I literally had almost no remaining hair to shape and was terrified, if this trip failed, that I'd be reduced to either wearing a wig or a brown paper bag. Not only was Nicola a complete joy to be around, but she someone managed to create a completely fabulous bob that I received daily compliments on. I have been seeing Nicola for over a year now and she is truly magnificent at what she does. We have played around with a ton of cut varieties and she always does her best to execute everything that I ask. Even when it doesn't go exactly as planed, Nicola solves the problem so I never leave her chair unhappy. She is also a skilled colorist and I am looking forward to heading back to her chair at the end of this month to play around with highlights. Love this place. I've been coming to Heidi for several years now for haircuts and highlights, she's seriously the best. I have very curly hair, and have had some pretty bad hair cuts in the past. But Heidi always does an amazing job, and really listens to what you want. She's really the only stylist I've been to who actually leaves your hair as long as possible when you say 'just trim the bare minimum off!". If you have curly hair and are nervous about having it cut, come see Heidi! I've also come here for updos for a few formal occasions, and will be using them for my wedding in a few months. The stylists do such a great job, and are so friendly. Every hair/beauty salon I've been to tends to run a little late, and that's certainly the case here if you have an appointment later in the day. But that's only because the stylists spend so much time with you, ensuring you cut and color is perfect. Definitely worth the wait! It's nearly impossible to get ahold of someone. When I finally did, I made an appointment. I had to cancel the night before because my debit card was used somewhere in Arkansas online and had to cancel and wait for a new one. The day of my appointment I had been waiting forever for, the stylist calls me and tells me her cat is sick and has to cancel and reschedule for the next day. Poor customer service all around. There are plenty of stylists in the area, so that's where I'm taking my business. read more

Her prices stand alone as being very reasonable; but as a cherry on the top, she is a perfectionist who isn't afraid to accommodate your off the wall hair requests. Her ability to do everything from a simple end trim to deep down getting in there and patiently snipping away till I have a multi-layered new wave hair-do, astounds me. Went there on a whim today. My hair is very long, to my waist, and i usually only get my hair cut once every one or two years, and today was the day. I tried dropping in a few weeks ago, but was told that they do not accept walk-ins. At first i was a little put off by this policy, but they are so close to my home and i couldn't resist the convenience and it was great that when i called they were able to schedule me within the hour. Laura was my hairdresser today. She is super friendly and very concerned that "we're on the same page". She listened to what I wanted and when I decided not to go with a couple of her suggestions, she did not take it personally at all and was glad that i knew what i wanted. Sometimes straight hair can be difficult to cut, but she did an excellent job. She helped me donate 8 inches of my hair and then cut the rest perfectly. I will definitely come back to Laura and this salon. (It's located in a little shopping center off of Mt. Hermon that my fiance and I like to call "the land that time forgot"...it resembles a small town in an old western.) read more

I have been going to Heidi for over ten years. I used to drive over the hill to Los Gatos, but since she opened Fringe Salon in Scotts Valley it's so convenient. Fringe is a casual, fun salon and everyone there is so friendly. Heidi is amazing! I first scheduled an appointment with Shannon Dreier which she then canceled on me the day of. This is already a sign of irresponsibility. I rescheduled and was excited to make this drastic change in my appearance. I went to the appointment and told her to cut it all shoulder length with slight layers in the front. I asked for the same length all around except for the very front, which would be the layers. As she began she started to cut the layers all around the hair, and now I have ended up with sort of a shag/mullet hairstyle, which is NOT what I asked for. She did not seem to listen or take my input into consideration. Both sides of my hair are not equal in length, and I was shocked when I left her chair. When she saw that I was in shock she said "Not loving it? Well you'll get used to it". :-O She washed, cut, blowdried and cleaned up all in around one hour. It was fast, sloppy, and jagged. It is obvious that she is not experienced and should not be trusted with cutting precious hair! Not going there again or recommending her. read more
