The jeweler is constantly overbooked. This is the 3rd time I've been there where they said "the earliest we can do is in 2 months" or so. I simply wanted a ring resized, they're just understaffed. They're eager to deny custom jobs too. My mom went there wanting a custom ring JUST to be repaired out of basic metal. It was a simple design. They turned her down in a very pompous and snooty manner. They said, "we only do custom jobs with elegant materials". The older gentleman in the back, the main jeweler, he's actually very nice, though. He helped me figure out the intricacies of my watch a few months ago, all for free. He was humble and not snooty one bit. I didn't know a lot about my watch and he was happy to teach me! They also resized my watch back in 2017, cost $25 then. read more

Larry Frith started this jewelry store with my dad, Robert Bradshaw, back in the mid 80's. When they started out, it was a little hole-in-the-wall where they would do repairs and custom work for most of the other jewelry stores in town (and even some in the bay-area). Over the years, Larry and Rob provided fantastic customer service. I would watch my dad educate his customers and steer them away from making potentially bad decisions, or expensive mistakes. (e.g., do a lot of manual labor with your hands? Maybe an opal ring isn't the best choice...). Even when it might hurt their sales, they were always painfully honest. After educating potential customers on what to look for, and how things are valued, I would often hear them say with a smile: "Go ahead, do some research, get prices from a few other stores, and we'll see you when you come back." It was with this honesty and respect for customers that Larry Frith and Robert Bradshaw grew Frith & Bradshaw Jewelers. Despite my dad's untimely passing in 1996, Larry has continued the legacy of honest, fair and forthright customer service that is virtually unheard of in the jewelry industry. There are no pressure sales techniques, no slick presentations and confusing jargon. Just honest advice and service from master jewelers. Came to this place for resizing of a bracelet that I had a cotton. I also wanted the latch switched out as the original one was not very secure. After meeting with them they were able to direct me to an appropriate size lobster clasp and takeoff some of the germs to resize it for a smaller wrist. It was over the holidays so it took about 2 1/2 weeks but they have beenUpfront about the wait time prior to my committal. I was OK with the wait time since I was not in a rush. When I had got the item back they had removed the exact amount as discussed and replace the clasp and it looked as if they had originally came that way. Great work read more

I wanted to sell a jewelry set recently so I first checked with the store it was purchased from. They don't buy jewelry but they referred me to Frith & Bradshaw, because "we don't like sending our customers to dishonest places, so this is about the only place we recommend". Thank goodness they did! Like with most high-end things to sell, I went to a few different places for quotes. Frith & Bradshaw offered me the most for my jewelry, more than twice of what some places offered me. Plus the staff was very polite and extremely knowledgeable in their trade. I have no idea how I ended up in Carmichael or even where Carmichael actually is. Hubby and I were on the way back from Reno and he wanted to buy me a Christmas present - I wanted a necklace. So I pull out my phone and yelp for the closest jewelry store that has good vintage jewelry. "Frith & Bradshaw" comes up close to the top. Very snooty it sounds like, just try saying it with an British accent, but how snooty can it be all the way out in the burbs of Sactown? So we finally got there, passed every strange church you can imagine - apparently Carmichael is home to many Jehovah's witnesses, Mormons, and all other matter of offbeat believers. We got inside and, wow, yes this is a very legit jewelry store. No frills, but some really beautiful pieces indeed. Vintage items are to the right. I stare at all the pretty sparkly things and inquire about a few, and give them right back after hearing the budget busting prices. Things aren't overpriced, they just were not what we were looking to spend that day. So the nice woman running the shop gets the idea that I really like all the Chinese jade in one case, among other things, and decides to show me the 50% off case that happens to have one jade, diamond and gold necklace in it, complete with gold chain. I try it on, and wow, it is really quite nice. Upon closer inspection I can see that it's actually made from salvaging the jade from a small saddle ring - I like it even more that it has a history. I could tell it was all handmade, no mold. So this is one of a kind completely. Hubby likes it on me, I like it on me, half off, heck, I'm sold. We walk out feeling like little Chinese bandits, grinning from ear to ear. Merry Christmas to me! read more

Just had to write another review. Came here again last weekend looking for a signet ring. As previously mentioned, F&B carries vintage jewelry for affordable prices. After looking at some of the signet rings they had in stock, they showed me a vintage ring from the 1930s. It's called a dome ring, so it is dome shaped over the finger, and would be a perfect, even more unique right hand ring. The ring was size 5, I'm a 7 or so, so they're resizing and "refurbishing" (for lack of a better word) the ring so it will look brand new. I can't say enough good things about Frith and Bradshaw. I had a stone from a ring that had been passed down from my grandmother to my mother and had it made into a pendant. They took great care to find a setting I loved and a chain that accented the pendant. Then I had them change a diamond heart pendant into a circle. This took significant time and several draft designs, but they took such great care with it and it turned out beautifully, better than I ever imagined. I was looking for someone to work on an antique heirloom engagement ring and matching wedding band that needed to be cleaned, have the shank of the engagement ring repaired, both pieces resized, then soldered together. I arrived and was immediately greeted by the owner, who talked me through the entire process, giving me very clear explanations of the necessary tasks as well as cost estimates. A day or two after leaving the items at the store for the work, I received a call from staff about a potential additional task that was necessary, again explaining in detail to give me a clear understanding about the reasons for the work and estimated costs. The entire job was finished in a week and my piece is absolutely stunning. I am so happy with every aspect of the work done and service provided by Frith & Bradshaw. It is a daunting prospect to take an item with such great sentimental value and entrust it to strangers, but I could not be more pleased with the professionalism and overall outcome of the project. Got a beautiful G color VVS2 for a fraction of what anyone else was selling it for. My fiancee gets so many compliments on how sparkly it is. The staff was so friendly, and not in a fake way. Exquisite sterling cuff bracelet snapped. Brought in to be repaired. After 3 weeks I called and guess what? It was ready! Tried it on at the shop. It broke in the same place as before plus the exquisite finish was pummeled with hammer marks. Awful. Sent it back now allegedly to a silversmith. 3 more weeks. It is done. Looks ok. Got the hammer marks out. Still feels fragile. At the same time I left an ankle bracelet that just needed another ring on the clasp. That was done poorly and the ring opened up and I lost the sterling ankle bracelet. So, No, I cannot recommend this place. read more

My journey began with Frith&Bradshaw when I was extremely pregnant and had to get my wedding ring cut off because of my swelling. Frith&Bradshaw did an amazing job cutting my ring off my chubby finger. After I had my baby girl I went back in to have them put the ring back together. After Larry looked at my wedding ring he noticed many imperfections in the structure of my ring (we bought it an estate sale, so it was old to say the least). After looking at the ring under a jewelers scope I saw that my diamonds were all coming out of their settings. They remade my ring completely. Larry took his time and made my ring so stunning. When I got my wedding ring back it was the same but better! We added more gold and added more structure gold to protect all of my diamonds.
