My friends and I used to love Fritella, and I was excited to learn that they reopened. We tried them out on a Wednesday. I guess I was hoping too much for the "old" Fritella. The place where you can show up at 5:30 on a Wednesday and not wait to be seated. The place where you order at the counter and mosey on down to your own seat, maybe by the fire. I'm not saying this is worse, but it's not the same. And I don't know if it's for me frankly. Now you have to be seated by waitstaff, and you order from a waiter. All that staff has made the prices go up (that is definitely not a positive we can all agree). There is a large bar area added to the back room with the fireplace, which takes up space that used to be used for tables. Tables are now tight and it's loud. Ordering from staff is neutral for me; I didn't mind the counter, and I don't mind waitstaff either. But I did feel a bit odd about being told that if so many people at the table order certain items, the table would get bread, but if they don't no bread. I didn't really want one of those items, but I was the last to order and the deciding number. So I felt pressured to, something that would have never happened in the last place. I've never felt uncomfortable at Fritella's in the past and never felt pressured to order anything I didn't want. I can't comment on whether the food is the "same" or not since I didn't get what I ordered in the past and really liked (bruschetta). But others at the table commented on the sauce and how it was delightfully the same. I can see how this will be the beginning of a happy friendship for many; for me it's probably time to say goodbye to Fritella's of the past. read more

Had to track people down and on top of that they added their own 8 dollar tip when I guess the "manager" said not to add a tip because we had NO waiter. Worst experience. I remember the first time I passed by Frittella on Texas Ave when I moved to BCS. I was struck by how different the building was compared to everything else I had seen in BCS up to that point because of its green paint job and clock tower. So much fun character in a town filled with cookie-cutter national chains and strip mall dives. I FINALLY tried Fritella the other day and was not disappointed. The establishment has an interesting set up- complete with a drive-thru. After doing some digging, it turns out this used to be a Taco Bell back in the day and was then converted into an Italian Restaurant in the 90s. The new owners added an indoor patio and the rest is history. There is a down-home, rustic vibe here. The kind typically found at a small town diner. Once you walk in, head towards the window to place your order. The menu is posted on the wall above the window. Beyond the cashier, you can see into the kitchen and watch as the staff kneads and rolls out the dough for their pastas and pizzas. Their speed is quite impressive, and you can see them walking around with pasta draped on their arms. I ordered the Baked Ziti with White Sauce while my friend ordered the Lasagna Siciliana. Afterwards, we headed through the double doors into the indoor patio seating. There are tables in the foyer type area as well; however, the patio seating just felt more appropriate for catching up. Lots of booths and cocktail tables around the perimeter and normal square tables in the center. The Lasagna Siciliana is their normal meat-y lasagna with a layer of eggplant at the bottom. My friend appeared to enjoy her meal. The Baked Ziti with White Sauce is a mozzarella lover's dream. SO. MUCH. CHEESE. I could taste the heavy cream that the mozzarella was cooked in. The browned bits were my favorite- definitely going to ask for a little extra time under heat next time I go. What impressed me most about the sauce was that it was consistent throughout and had not split considering how affordable Fritella is. So often when I've been to Italian restaurants at this price point, the white sauce is almost curdled or there's a ton of oil left after finishing the pasta. So major kudos on that end. My only issue with my dish was that it was a bit one note. I would have loved a surprise pocket of herbs or maybe some veg mixed into the sauce. Honestly though, not mad at what I ate. I just HAD to give a review of this place after eating here tonight. If I could give above 5 stars I would because the service and the food out did any expectations I could have of the food. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place because we were looking for a decently priced Italian spot that was a small business that we could try out. Walking in I could tell this would be amazing just because of the small cozy vibe this place gave. I decided to order the lasagna/cannelloni and my boyfriend ordered the chicken Alfredo. The moment I tasted my dish I knew I had just found my new favorite local spot and my boyfriend raved about how this was the best homemade pasta he's ever had. Also if it is any constellation to anyone my boyfriend is not a red sauce fan at all (even gets white sauce on pizza) and was raving about their house made marinara sauce (which I cannot recommend ENOUGH). Ryan, our server, was great and very welcoming. We also got to meet Tracy, who will now be seeing us every week, and he was such a pleasure to talk to and I am so glad he took over this restaurant with his welcoming personality. Now for the real important part, dessert, Tracy told us to try the cheesecake (and after the amazing food we knew to trust him) and man oh man this was AMAZING!!! Idk if these people are getting payed off to give good reviews or they just wouldn't know good italian food if it hit them in the face. The chicken parmigiana is terrible. Probably frozen chicken tenders. Sauce is awful. The pasta on the side was nice and crispy. YUMMY!! The pictures that they have online to advertise their food is not right at all. I was excited to try this place based on the star ratings, but I was disappointed by the food and service. The tomato sauce tastes curiously sweet. The pasta is overcooked. The pizza crust is dense and reminds me of frozen supermarket pizza, and I'm not talking about DiGiorno. The eggplant Parmesan was okay. Cooking the tomato sauce for longer makes it more palatable. The lasagna is dry and lacks flavor. The bruschetta was confusing and unappetizing. The best part of the meal by far was the bread sticks, which are good. The Merlot they offer tasted like vanilla. Customer service appears to not be a priority here. The staff closed the restaurant at 8:15. I gave this place two stars rather than one because I hadn't been here before the pandemic, so I don't know if that is affected the food or service. I was most disappointed that the patio they advertise is actually just a room that is entirely enclosed, which is not a patio. If you only want to eat outside during the pandemic, or if you're looking for authentic Italian food, look elsewhere. read more

We went to the restaurant with a party of 7 for my son's birthday. We were seated promptly and our sever was very attentive. It was a cold night, but inside was warm and inviting. We all ordered the breadsticks while we were going over the menu and they were delicious. Each person in our party ordered a different dish and we all enjoyed our entrees. While Frittella's is not an Olive Garden, it does not disappoint. I made my first visit here while at the end of a long bike ride after a friend has invited me over to eat here. I got one of their signature dishes, a Frittella, and I was hooked. The quality of the food matches the great prices. You get a meal as low as $6 and dish are around $11-$13. The staff seem very polite and friendly. I'm not waiting long for my food either. I've taken a lot of my friends to this restaurant and we leave satisfied every time. We chose this restaurant on a Sunday after church and were seated immediately. That was a bit concerning at lunch time. Usually a wait would be in order. We ordered and took our seats. The tables were clean and soon the appetizers arrived. I am not an expert however the breadsticks were more like fry bread dough and the sauce was semi sweet. The food was good but not authentic in my opinion. The bread was soft, the sausage was diced from a loaf more than rough ground and more natural like Italy. First visit here. We took my son and his buddies to dinner. It was great! Our server, Will was very helpful and made suggestions. We started with the spinach artichoke and then had the shrimp alfredo, chicken nozze, lasagna, and cannelloni. He also brought us some fresh warm dinner rolls, so good! Since you've turned off the Facebook Reviews (and I now know why), this is my only way to let you know how disappointed I've been with your restaurant since it's re-opening. I've had three bad experiences in a row since you re-opened the restaurant. The first occurred when your website and Facebook pages both indicated you were open on July 4th, and your online ordering system allowed me to place and order and pay for it. Only to find out you were closed tighter than a drum after I driving all the way across town. At least you (the owner) called me the next day offering to fulfil my order. Except I waited forever for my food even though I confirmed my order while still sitting in the parking lot of my office building across town. The second occasion my wife and I came in for a sit-down dinner. After a few minutes standing at the door trying to decipher whether we were supposed to sit ourselves or wait no telling how much longer for someone to appear and seat us. A tall blonde female politely took our order, which included my order of beef cannelloni and a Frittella with beef, mozzarella and a double helping of ricotta. She returned a while later to say you were out of ricotta. I was disappointed, but I ordered breadsticks in place of the Fritella. She eventually brought out my wife's meal and the breadsticks. I was confused after she told us to enjoy our meal and walked off. I called her back over to ask about my cannelloni. She appoligized and ran off. After a while, she brought me the combo dinner instead of what I ordered. I was hungry and tired of waiting, so I just ate it. At least she gave us a discount for the mix-up. Tonight was the third incident. My wife and I arrived for a sit-down dinner. A polite young lady sat us near the bar at a very nice table. A red-headed young lady came to take our order. She stood on the other side of the table next to us and spoke so quietly, After telling her twice I couldn't hear her I eventually had to yell out for her to please speak up. She brought our drinks, a Diet DP for my wife and an Unsweet tea for me. Both drinks were only about half full and neither had any ice. I drank half of my tea and asked her to fill it up with ice before adding more tea. Again, about half full and no ice. A young man standing near the bar doing nothing brought me a full glass of tea and an extra glass full of ice. My wife ordered lasagna and I ordered the cannelloni again, plus a Fritella with beef, mozzarella and a double helping of ricotta (no sauce). She appeared to get it all. We received our meals and Frittella. Except the Frittella had NO ricotta. I told her it had no ricotta, so she took it away. A while later we got a second Frittella. It had more mozzarella, STILL had NO ricotta!! I took the Frittella to the counter and spoke to the head chef. He was confused and said the server never told him anything about ricotta. I told him what I ordered and he made it for me. Our server was wondering around aimlessly most of our stay. I had to call her over again and asked her for more tea, but I couldn't drink it after she brought me SWEET tea. I left a $5 tip for a $52 bill feeling like I gave her $4 too much. That's ridiculous. We LOVE your food - when we can get it and get it right. But you're going to be out of business VERY soon based on the way it's being run. read more

Worst Cannoli I've ever had. Seriously. The shell is a fried wonton, it's tiny, the filling is chunky and wet, and it's stuffed with candied fruits and chocolate shavings as if to mask the cheap cottage cheese they used rather than taking the time to show some respect and put the love and care into straining and whipping the true ricotta. Severely disappointed. If you want Cannoli, you have to go to Boston MA. Will not be going back. Should have seen the warning signs when the waitress/clerk at the counter didn't even know what Cannoli were. Fritellas is a really great place if you are craving Italian food! Nice cozy decor and a good variety of food, it's like a place you can walk in anytime for food and don't have to plan way before( although you might have to, coz of their hours). To start with the positives, the Egg plant Parmesan! A must have, feels a little greasy but not to the point where it overwhelms you. The flavors are just awesome. I also got to try the lasagna verde (vegetarian) which was pretty good with layers of spinach, goes well with their marinara sauce. I got the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, not mind blowing n all that, could've been better. And dessert! Tiramisu! Soooo goood! If you live in college station/Bryan this is definitely worth a visit. Going back there to try their chicken parm soon! read more

I absolutely love fritellas! I have been going here for years- the egg plant Parmesan is the best in town! I get it every time! I honestly haven't found an eggplant Parmesan anywhere that I like as much. It's great because you don't have to tip and the food is cheap- locally and family owned! Warm atmosphere- they decorate for Christmas. The appetizers are yummy and cheap! I honestly like it more than cafe Capri. You just order in the front and sit down. Wow Food!, wow hospitality! This is an amazing and truly authentic Italian restaurant with Southern Italian peculiar food culture. It is a family owned and family run business. They make everything from scratch and make it to perfection in terms of taste, bite and appearance. The service is to the accepted standard and the staffs are friendly. They have spacious and beautifully dexorated dining halls. They serve variety of soups, salads, Frittella, pasta, pizza, and desserts. They also have varieties of wine and beer. They have soda drinks and Italian espresso coffee. I had chicken-vegetable soup and beef Frittella. It was amazing. The lazagna is also good. They have my favorite Italian dessert, Tiramisu. Came here for dinner to celebrate my sister's graduation. The atmosphere is pretty chill. You other from up front and choose your entrees, then the waiter serves to your table. They have a salad bar and simple Italian dishes. I ordered the eggplant parmesean and a salad. My sister had the chicken parmesean and it came with a side of spaghetti. I really loved my dish. I love eggplant and this was my first time eating eggplant parmesean. Later when we were done eating, the owner came by to greet us. It was really nice. The lady working at the window knew what customer service was. She greeted us like she knew us for years, gave us our appetizer to "snack" on while our entrees were cooking, THEN when the food was ready, they threw in an extra FREE order of our appetizer. WOW!! Read some of the reviews and thought we would try it....big mistake. The atmosphere was not inviting. My daughter ordered a cheese pizza. I thought it would be cooked in the big fancy pizza oven they have. The pizza tasted worse than a cheap frozen pizza from a grocery store. I had the lasagna dinner special. I ordered Italian dressing on my salad..I believe it was balsamic dressing instead that was on it. The lasagna had little flavor with a very generic marinara sauce on it. The parmesan cheese was simply store bought quality...not bad. We didn't eat much and just left. Prices were reasonable, but food was not good.
