Waiters with horrible attitude, especially the one with the pony tail. The waiters never come to ask you proactively. You have to try to catch them when they are walking by if you need anything. And they don't even stop to hear or respond when you are talking to them. Because of this, I thought the waiter didn't hear me when I first asked for dessert. Le Frog was the quintessential French culinary experience I was craving. We went way out of our comfort zone and ordered the escargot and frog legs for starters. Having never eaten snails or frog, i was concerned. Both were exquisite and had tons of flavor. The frog legs were delicate, savory, with a little texture. The escargot was accompanied with a lovely sauce that reminded me of a garlicky pesto. For dinner we had the pistachio encrusted rack of lamb and the saffron risotto with lobster. Delicious French seafood spot in a great location! Went here with some friends on our first trip to Nice and we were really satisfied with the food. We got a bottle of wine, escargot (first time - amazing), burrata and tomato, seafood linguine, lobster risotto, and finished off with tiramisu. The seafood linguine had plenty of muscles, calamari, and prawns (some peeled and some in the shell). The lobster risotto was good but not a ton of lobster meat, though the risotto tasted delicious. Every aspect of the meal was amazing. Service was great, they were all very friendly and mostly spoke English. In fact, all of the clientele around us were American. This restaurant is in a hidden spot where it is off the main road and is less hectic. We did not have a reservation but we were kindly accommodated by the waiter. The waiters speak very good English as well. The atmosphere of this restaurant was very nice and calm. For appetizers we ordered the Escargot and the Frog Legs. I am typically a fan of escargot, but I was not amused with the escargot here. The taste was very earthy and bitter - by earthy, I mean it tastes like dirt. As for the frog legs, I was rather surprised. At first, I was skeptical because I have only tried frog legs once before and the texture is kind of similar to the texture of chicken. The frog legs at this restaurant were crispy and had a pleasant flavor. I liked it! For the main course, I had the Rack of Lamb and this was probably one of the best lamb dishes that I have had before. The top layer was charred and crispy which made it taste smokey. Delicious restaurant off the main street. Service was great, the two waiters were friendly and hardworking and spoke English. Food came out VERY fast which we loved and were quite taken aback by. But what stood out was their frog appetizer. AMAZING and we were not able to find this dish elsewhere yet. I had saw this restaurant on yelp but thought it was a fancier restaurant and did not consider it because we were not dressed up. However, this restaurant is very casual and the waiters are very nice! It is also fancy enough to take someone out on a nice dinner date. Open till 11pm Their frog was super flavorful and drenched in the most flavorful olive oil, we asked for more bread just to finish that olive oil. The restaurant definitely lives up to its name! I HIGHLY recommend you try this! The escargot was also delicious, my mom wanted escargot and none of the restaurant on the main street had it but then we saw Le Frogs menu stand. The have daily price fix menus which was very worth your money. We got some creamed vegetable soup which was light and solid. This also came with pork + fish, the sauce was delicious and it was the most tender lean pork I've ever had. We changed out the pear tart for a creme brûlée which was also delicious and solid. It was only 21€! Their duck was also very good, their sauce was delicious. Overall a very solid dish. Lastly their dish of the day, linguini with clam was disappointing. The clams were not fresh, half of them did not open which means they are no good to eat. Then it was drenched heavily in red wine. Also other tables got a grilled sea bass which was huge!! It's 35€ if I remember correctly but enough for two people to share! It looked like 1 foot long and seems like a very healthy choice. read more

Frog is located down a little alley close to the water (but not on the water, no ocean views). They serve a variety of traditional French dishes, and have both a menu (appetizer + entree + dessert) and the a la carte (option to order individual plates). To start, my husband and I ordered the escargot which had a very tasty combination of ingredients for their sauce. We then had the melon with the ham, which was ok, but nothing special. For my entree I had the linguine, and my husband had the wok le mar. Each of our dishes contained scallops. Mine were overcooked and the sauce in my dish was gritty and a bit bland. For the number of what appear to be American reviews on yelp, I would have expected the waiters to be friendlier than they were. I would say they were pretty in line with what I experienced in most of France - to themselves, not overly helpful explaining the menu, and not very attentive. That's to be expected with the culture in France, but could be off putting to some Americans. Overall I would have to think there are better options for dining while in Nice. Both were good, but I certainly have had better. Their creme brûlée and chocolate mousse were very good. The brûlée was very creamy and the mousse was chocolatey and thick. This is an awesome little hidden spot with generous food portions and kind staff! I am gluten free and sometimes have difficulty communicating that, but the staff here knew immediately what I meant and were very knowledgeable about what had gluten. I even got to have delicious escargot! Usually it has bread crumbs, but here their simple but delicious approach excludes bread crumbs. My boyfriend had the duck and said it was the largest portion he'd ever been given. I had the lobster risotto and it was so so delicious! They run the whole place with 4-5 guys so sometimes things are a little slow but overall it was okay. Price reference: we had an appetizer of frog legs, appetizer of escargot, lobster risotto (so much lobster!), duck entree, and bottle of wine for €100. They apparently change their menu every 6 months or so, so this may become out of date in a couple months +they offer a deal for 21 euro- daily deal today was stuffed veggies, rabbit and potatoes, fruit salad for dessert. Booked late so we ate late, but an excellent dinner for three of us. We felt compelled to try frogs' legs (cruises de grenouilles) and snails (escargot). Frogs' legs are similar in some respects to a chicken wings, but the preparation is subtle and very tasty. Snails were prepared with a pesto. Sauce was delicious but, honestly, I could take or leave the escargot. My friend had the vegetarian Poke bowl and enjoyed it very much. I had the ribs de porc. I wanted to see how this translated from the ribs I've had in the US. The sauce was more complex, less (though still) sweet and more delicate. Still messy to eat! The portions are not as large as in the states and that's fine. My partner had the filet de Saint Pierre (John Dory) which was also a very nice dish. Had two (yes, one of those nights) bottles of the regional white wine, which was excellent. Finished off the evening with a shared an exotic Pavlova which featured mango (super yum). read more

Very good. I got the menu fixed plus split 6 escargot. They escargot were amazing; they were in a parsley, garlic oil that was delicious even wiping the remnants with bread. my sisters beef was very good, especially the sauce that it came with. It's much more intimate because it doesn't have all the commotions of one of the main streets, yet it's half a block away from festivities. We started with fried frog legs. I highly recommend this. They crispy and lightly breaded. The frog legs are topped with garlic and onions sautéed in butter making it so savory. Next, we shared beet raviolis. They folded sliced beets over and filled them with cheese to make them look like dumplings/raviolis. For our main course we shared a duck breast. Found this place very last minute with my family and am so thankful I did! The frog legs and escargot were Immaculate and I ordered the duck breasts, which they provided a heavy amount of for a reasonable price. The mashed potatoes that came with it were amazing as well! I went to this place because I found it on yelp while I was searching for escargot in Nice. And oh my god. I feel like I have never make a better choice on food. The restaurant first of all need reservation because it can get super busy. I was lucky enough they have a table to spare. We orders 4 things; 12 escargots (snails), seafood linguini, lobster risotto and the buratta. They were amazing!!!!! We ended up eat everything down to the last drop of olive oil. It's All about the frog legs. They are not spicy like the American Buffalo wing, but they are every bit as good (honestly, they are way better). This is a hidden gem by the Riviera. We found this spot because I searched Yelp and saw all the good reviews. The place is located in a small alley off the French market area. I am so glad we stop because the food was delicious. We got there right before the kitchen close for dinner prep but they still took our order. We had chicken with roasted peppers and lobster risotto. Both entrees were delicious but the prize goes to the lobster risotto and the buttery sauce they put on top....mmmmm so good! They also have a good wine list to pair with your meal. Their prices are reasonable and usually have specials where you come combine 3 courses for one price. Frog is a small restaurant in Nice, France that should be attended by anyone who is visiting or even lives in Nice. To say that this meal was delicious would be an understatement. It was perfection. We sat at a small table outside and the waiter immediately struck up a conversation and told us all about the city. He made some recommendations on the menu and I went with the stuffed vegetables to start, followed by an order of salmon and the apple pie dessert. Each dish was absolutely delicious! The veggies were stuffed with meat and were unlike any I've ever had. The salmon was seasoned and cooked perfectly with just the right amount of juiciness. And the apple pie? That apple pie though?? I have no words for this one. I'm not sure how they make it, but it had a sweetness and heaviness that I've never tasted in apple pie. Condense milk maybe, or even mixed with some sort of porridge. Whatever the case, it was hands down the best apple pie I've ever had. From start to finish, this entire experience was perfect. As the name suggests, they serve frog; specifically frog legs, which were very tender and delicious. The taste is comparable to a very small chicken. In addition to that, the escargot -- a must try for your first trip in France -- was fantastic as well. It definitely has an interesting flavor and texture. My favorite has to be their house special, the foie gras. The portion seemed light, but once you take your first bite, the intense and almost raw flavor will overwhelm your senses. There are many, many restaurants in Nice but several of them are overpriced and overrun by tourists. Comical, I know, because I'm a tourist. I'm tourist but I hate myself when I'm a tourist. You know what I'm talking about. This place has a lovely authentic energy. The service here is quite good - and by good, this means efficient and attentive. It's a cultural divide for Americans especially: the French linger longer, the Americans want their checks and are ready to jet. Le Frog strikes a good balance between being painfully slow and rushing you out. There are a few outdoor terrace tables and a larger cozy dining room, take your pick. We started with frog's legs and a Niçoise salad. The frog's legs were FANTASTIC. I know that many people say that they taste like chicken - this is true in a way. The texture is similar to dark meat chicken. But it's creamier and fattier. This house specialty was sauteed perfectly in a mixture of butter, salt and subtle herbs - we really enjoyed it. 5 of them were plenty for two people. This is a dish I'd come back here for again and again. My main course, duck (medium rare), was excellent. My husband chose sea bass topped with foie gras and it was such a dynamite fusion of flavors and textures. One wouldn't initially think that they'd go together so well, but they did. Airy, savory and very satiating. The menu items range from 16-35 euros, pretty standard for most restaurants in Nice. We had a cocktail each and a glass of wine each, two starters and two entrees. Frog was my favorite restaurant in Nice! Although frog may seem like an exotic food to some people, as a Chinese girl, I actually eat frog on a monthly basis. The frog I eat usually involves being stir-fried with lots of chili peppers either Sichuan style or Hunan style. The food is absolutely delicious here, from start to end. My only regret is not trying the frog legs!! When in France... one must definitely try frog legs. The pasta was some of the best al dente pasta I've ever had. My braised beef dish was tender, full of flavor and devoured in about 5 minutes! The salmon appetizer was good as well, very fresh. We decided not to go with the pre fixed menu because we thought it'd be too much food but the food is so good here I wish we did so we could've tried more of the food. Le Frog is located in Vielle Nice, off the beaten path, and tucked into this quiet little alley off the boisterous brigade of the main promenade.  Minimal, chic, and very green, we sat ourselves on the patio to people watch and enjoy the beautiful beach breeze.  We started with what else?  Frog legs! Duh!   I'm sure you've heard it tastes like chicken, which it does, but when the French prepare it, it's smothered with garlic, butter, parsley, garlic, and more garlic! LalalalLOVED this dish and the absolutely decadent escargots that followed. Le hubs wanted something lite and refreshing since we'd been eating all day and ordered an avocado and shrimp salad while I had duck breast with polenta.   It was a magical meal made even more fabulous by the conversations we struck up with the servers, who were literally telling us every hotspot to wind down at after our meal.  Of course we never made it to said hotspots and instead sauntered around the Old Town soaking in the sites, the smells, and sounds of this intoxicatingly luxurious seaside city. read more

We were looking for some French food to finish our visit to Nice and Frog did not disappoint! The frog legs were excellent and the escargot was good as well, although we were all happy that we ordered these as an appetizer to share instead of the entre consisting of just the two items. All of the entrees were excellent. The beef dishes were especially good and the mash potatoes stood out as well. My only complaint on the food was that the lobster risotto was not lobster. I believe it was a large crawfish or similar which was still good but certainly not the lobster listed on the menu. The service was great as well.
