This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast, and I'm pretty sure it will put all others to shame. The amount of care taken with detail at this establishment is remarkable. It is obvious that this family has taken a lot of pride and effort to making this Inn a relaxing and memorable experience. Breakfast was fantastic! It was a great way to start our day. My fiance and I stayed in the Butternut Cottage and it was beautiful. I loved waking up to a paddock full of sheep outside of my door. Everyone here was extremely courteous and professional. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone staying in Lancaster. I would love to return the next time I am in the area. read more

My fiancé is worried as we turn off of Lincoln Pike. "I hope we are not staying near here," she says as we turn off a busy street into an apparently grungy neighborhood. "I'm sure it will be fine," I reassure her. Just then, the tightly zoned city-scape near Lincoln Pike opens into a beautiful country farmland paradise, and to our right is an amazingly stunning mansion with statues of lions in the front yard. "We should stay in a place like that!" my fiancé jokes. She is surprised to learn that the beautiful mansion is the Silverstone Inn, and that is exactly where we would be staying. I am a little surprised when I arrive. No one is home. I am not worried, because the website gives a clear impression that this is a family run establishment, and I assume that they have stepped out for dinner. I noted on my reservation that I would be arriving between 8pm and 9pm (long after the requested check-in time), and having arrived early, there is no reason that they should be expecting me. I come back after an hour, and find our hostess. She is surprised to see me. She has no new reservations for today. I pull out my confirmation and discover that I booked my stay for the PREVIOUS weekend! At this point, there are two things she could say: The first, and what I expected is, we charged you a no-call-no-show cancelation fee, and we can see if there are rooms available to book for tonight. But instead, she says: "We assumed there was an error. We never charged your card, and we are happy to have you with us tonight! Glad you could make it! Would you like to see some of the other rooms we have available before I check you in?" Immediately, I knew I was in a good place. Tarah (my fiancé) and Mrs. Wortel (our hostess) tour all the rooms, but there is not much to decide after Tarah eyes the private room in the back yard with the hot-tub, patio, and direct access to the sheep. The springhouse turned cottage is delightful. Inside, one sees the care that the Wortels have put into ensuring that the B&B is run as a business and not as a hobby. Carefully cleaned and pressed linens are masterfully tucked onto the massive and extremely comfortable mattress. A couch and flat screen television are noticeable right next to the miniature refrigerator and Keureg. Mrs. Wortel tells us about all the amenities, the free-wifi connection, some tips for how to use the hot-tub, and then proceeds to take us inside. Tarah and I follow, but I know already that we are going to get the room we have just seen. The rest of the house is just as lovely and just as peaceful. The thick stone walls give a rustic and familiar feel to me, but seem strange and foreign to Tarah, who has spent her whole life in California. The home feels like an old Dutch hotel made modern with a few carefully made touches here and there. We tour the breakfast nook, the bar, which is open to guests, the sitting area, and the other rooms. Mrs. Wortel and I agree on the details associated with the room that she showed us out back, and Tarah and I head out to get a light meal. Tarah says as we drive out, "This is perfect!, and I hope we can live in a place like this someday. It feels like it is deep in the country, but it is literally only 5 minutes from Target." Being late on a Sunday night, our local restaurant options are limited. Tarah has never been to a Cracker Barrel before, so we stop at the Cracker Barrel for a bite to eat, and we also ask if they have any extra bread that they can part with (we have plans to feed the sheep before bed). The Cracker Barrel gives us some burned corn bread samples, and we head back. The sheep are in the other field, but after Tarah calls to them, they come looking for bread samples. Mrs. Wortel often feeds them bread from the patio there, so they know there is a good chance they will be fed if someone beckons them there. Tarah is beaming with joy, and I take pleasure in watching her, as she breaks of pieces of cornbread and passes them out to the flock of 15 to 20 sheep, who are now singing in a chorus of "Baaah! Baaah! Baah!", which I translate to "Pay attention to me! I want bread! I want bread!". After Tarah feeds the sheep, we put on swimsuits that we brought along for a "just-in-case" moment, and climb into the hot tub. The hot tub is fitted with a special bar, which makes removing and replacing the insulating lid extremely simple and easy. I marvel at the device and make a mental note that I should buy one for our house. The water is warm, and the night air is cool, and Tarah and I spend the rest of the evening talking and enjoying the night sky with the occasional sounds of sheep in the background. The Silverstone Inne is a delightful getaway, and Tarah and I have put this location on our "must repeat" list. I have already recommended this establishment to my mother who still lives in the area for those moments that she just needs to get away for a little slice of heaven without having to fly to another country. read more

It's a very rare thing when a place enjoys pastoral beauty as well as immediate access to local shopping and dining. Silverstone provides this rare paradox. You will be able to look out your window or enjoy a cup of coffee on the patio and see nothing but farmland and Amish buggies go by. Jump in your car, and within a minute you'll see a plethora of modern and old fashioned retail options. Proprietors Toni and Lorin actually met on a cruise ship years ago, and that romantic magic is still evident in the accommodations and care you'll enjoy during your stay. My room was tastefully appointed with old world charm but a modern and immaculate bathroom of tile and marble. The inn itself dates from the late 1700's and the restoration captures old world quaintness while offering all the modern conveniences. Perfect for both the overnight getaway crowd or those wising to spend a relaxing weekend in the Lancaster area. Probably the highest praise you can give is simply whether you'd return. Well...I found my little Lancaster nook and look forward to a another visit. read more

I ran across this place because of TripAdvisor... at that time it had 44 Five-Star reviews and 3 Four-Star reviews. I did not believe any place could be that perfect; but my gut feeling was this place was the perfect B&B for my husband and I to stay for our 2nd Anniversary. The grounds were scenic, very beautiful... the rooms were just as pictured on the website. Both hosts were very friendly and accommodating. It was near perfect, but the imperfections were not enough for me to rate our experience anything lower than 5. We stayed in the Hazelnut room which has it's own private entrance and jacuzzi (for one). Pros: -Breakfast was delicious -Everyone was unique -There is a bar area with games, mugs, coffee, hot chocolate, tea, sugar, water kettle, fridge, microwave, and water... all free for guests -The location is right behind Tanger Outlet and within minutes of many restaurants and things to do...although you would not know it because the grounds is very secluded -The hosts took us in although we missed check-in time due to Friday traffic -Free Wifi for guests Cons: -Hazelnut room was a bit cold for me even though the fireplace was on constantly and we had our own thermostat control -We found cobb webs on the ceiling and high walls and a stink bug in the window -neither of those listed above was enough for me to not want to stay again My husband and I will be back next year... My husband and I decided to get away from the crowds for the weekend. We headed for Amish country in Pennsylvania because we'd never been there and we thought it would be relaxing. Fortunately, we had Trip Advisor and Yelp to help with the accommodations. The Silverstone Inn and Suites were right where we wanted to be yet tucked down a quiet back road. The owners were wonderful and the accommodations were updated, spotless and relaxing. We had Dutch Crepes in the morning which were excellent. I would highly recommend this Inn if you are heading to that area. Call them in advance if you want to get the inside scoop on the area and avoid all the tourist traps. read more

Silverstone is easily one of the best bed and breakfast we've stayed at. The decoration is very tasteful and the attention to detail is evident everywhere you look. The location is great. Our room was comfortable and beautifully decorated with many stained glass lamps. We saw many sheep from our window and they were very friendly! Breakfasts prepared by Toni were delicious. This has been, by far, my favorite bed and breakfast experience. My husband and I stayed there for two nights as one of our best friends was getting married at the Barn at Silverstone and they had paid for the entire bridal/groom party to stay. It was beautiful, rustic, the service was excellent. My only complaint is that we could not adjust the thermostat to make sleeping temperature comfortable (it only went down to 70 degrees for us... I understand the reasoning, as one doesn't want to over-tax the system, but then perhaps allow windows to be opened or something in order to cool the room down further) and that interrupted our sleep a bit. Otherwise, I highly recommend this inn. You won't regret it! read more

My husband and I stayed at Silverstone Inn the week after Christmas. I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't booked up being the holiday and all. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. It is one of the most charming B & Bs we've ever stayed at. It was affordable and the room was peaceful. Breakfast was delicious! The owners came out and spoke to us....very friendly ppl. We had a great stay in Lancaster and highly recommend Silverstone. It's within walking distance of the Rockvale Outlets and all of the restaurants, theaters, etc. We plan to return soon read more

We stayed at the Silverstone Inn and Suites as a part of our wedding gift for getting married at the Barn located on the property last year. Miranda who runs the weddings at the Barn gives each of her couples a gift certificate to stay for their first anniversary and we are so glad we did. I knew I would love staying just from the experience we had last year at our wedding. Everyone is so personable and wonderful and we decided to stay in the Butternut Cottage which is the small carriage house next to the main Inn. It was so nice and clean, the sheets were soft and the bed was so comfortable. You can also enjoy your own private hot tub just outside of the cottage. In the morning we were greeted by the sheep as we drank our coffee on the small porch before being served a lovely breakfast in the main part of the inn. I recommend staying here if you're looking for a picturesque romantic stay in the heart of Lancaster County. read more

First bed and breakfast ever and pleasantly surprised. Always had the awkward stigma of staying in one because it feels like staying in someones house. I was happy to be wrong. The place felt simply comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms were clean and homey. My wife and I were under a time constraint, so we stayed in the cottage just one night. Heavy rains caused some flooding during our stay, but we felt cozy and comfortable. The cottage is furnished nicely, and it was as clean as I've ever seen a B&B. The private hot tub was a nice touch and they provided robes and extra towels for us to use. As the rain cleared, we were able to see how beautiful the property is with the sloping hills and neat rows of corn. We had a view of their impeccably refinished barn and were able to see Amish carriages going by on the nearby road. We will definitely return in the future and I've already recommended them to my family. read more

This is a beautiful B&B that's just behind the strip malls, but just far enough away to only overlook farmland rather than parking lots. It's a gorgeous old home that was meticulously renovated to be very quiet and clean, while preserving the character of the old home.
