When I saw the Oakbrook Center mall directory, I was stoked to see Paper Source and that it was open until 9pm on a Monday evening. I naturally had to come in to check out the selection. It's dangerously addicting and it was hard to control myself from wanting to take the store with me. I came in wanting to see what I can get last minute for others but ended up spoiling myself -- self care, right. I found a cute journal that's good for up to 3 years, and it's a daily question you answer about self care which I think is truly necessary in these trying times. I can use some daily affirmations, and then I found these cute narwhal pens so I had to get them too. The staff were friendly and available as needed. I love that I wasn't upsold anything, I wasn't followed around, and I was given the space to do my thing. When I had questions the two ladies were more than happy to assist me, though they couldn't find an item I was looking for, I still appreciate their efforts and how they worked together. It's one of the better experiences I've had in person at Paper Source. I also wasn't pressured to sign up for anything. I do have to say that the Paper Source location I've been to in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood does have a bigger selection than this one. However, the brand and this location is still pretty consistent, it just doesn't have everything and if they do it's in smaller quantities. I do recommend this location to anyone in the area looking for stationery items, greeting cards etc.

If you weren't completely obsessed with this place, I have to wonder, do you even like stationary?…read moreBecause the selection, prices, and service at Atlas cannot be beat. I live 90 minutes away, and this was on my must-do list for my trip to Chicago. I'm so glad that I finally made it here! When I was a child, I was completely obsessed with the scented Sanrio markers. Overtime, I discovered that I enjoyed journaling, and have been very selective regarding pens and paper. Atlas has it all. Maybe not Hello Kitty, grape-scented markers, but literally everything else that a nerdy pen-and-paper-obsessed person could want. I brought my 13 year old, for whom most things are *eyeroll* boring and she didn't want to leave. The washi tape and sticker area had her plotting collages and teen-angst journaling for days. For me, it was the ability to check out the pens. Of course they are known for the fabulous and gorgeous selection of fountain pens and ink. But I haven't gone down that rabbit hole yet. I am talking about the regular pens. Ballpoint, felt tip, colorful, plain, all sizes of points and inks and all wonderfully curated. And you can try them all. And here is the thing: for this level of service and attention you would think it would be too pricey, but it wasn't this is part of the reason I will keep coming back. If you haven't been here, make the journey and keep writing!

Are you all about Japanese planners and stationery? Then, Atlas Stationers, who has been around…read moresince the late '30s, is your spot! This place is large and spacious, and their selection is so great - they have everything from all the different types of pens (fountain pens, ballpoint pens, rollerball pens, calligraphy, and glass dip pens), markers, various types of pencils (mechanical and woodcase), pencil sharpeners, erasers, stamps, stickers, washi tapes, wax seals, inks and refills, notebook covers and accessories, pen storages, notebooks, sketchbooks, and paper/sticky notes! I loved their selection in stationery, washi tapes, and the stickers! There are stations in which you can test out different types of paper and pens to just find that 'perfect' one! There are friendly staff readily available to answer any questions or help you locate any item(s). You can easily spend at least an hour in here! Metered street parking can be found in the area. +stationery and planners +great selection +available staff +metered street parking available
