This is the worst medical clinic that I have every dealt with. I was scheduled for eye surgery in August 2025 and the surgery was cancelled with the expectation that I would receive a call to reschedule, it is now Nov 6, 2025 and I am still waiting for the call. I have call numerous times and never receive a call back. I have made several attempts (USPS, email and fax) to get my medical records so I can go to another doctor and not have to be re-tested, and still no response. The operating license for the entire operation should be revoked. read more

They told me they'd be able to send them back to the company to thin out my glasses which I paid for them to do. Now I am told that since the owner died they do not know when I will be able to receive my glasses. So now I am down 250 dollars and a pair of glasses I paid 500+ dollars for. I rarely make reviews but the lack of professionalism in this center especially Doctor Ryan Roger's is incredible. I'm assisting my mother on this appointment and the wait time of over 2 hours to see him is incomprehensible and I'm still waiting. The same people that were sitting waiting when we came in are still here . We even came a little early to give some time to register and yet that didn't matter. I'm wondering if he will treat patients from the city like this ? Is it because it's in the bronx and he must think he doesn't have to respect our time ? My mother has been seeing Fromer for decades at the Grand Concourse Office. She never had a problem with him and his staff. He is a wonderful doctor and a professional. I would recommend him to anyone. However, mom required a follow-up and a procedure. She was referred to Dr. Ryan Rodgers. After today's visit I decided she is never to see him again! He is a horrible doctor and the staff person name Gaby. Not only did we wait for over 3.5 hours, but the doctor did not even bother reading any of the record info provided from Mom's first visit with Fromer or the Teleconference call that resulted in the referral to Dr. Rodgers. His bedside manners sucks and I question his professionalism. He spent more time telling Gaby what to do and how to write it on computer. Meanwhile my 87 year mother seats on the chair with nothing being done while he does spell check with Gaby. My eye doctor, whom I saw today, told me he was retiring in 2 months and my new doctor would be a Dr. Rogers. My current doctor's office is in 2C on the second floor. The place is never too crowded and people are not sitting next to each other. The new doctor will be on the first floor in 1C. I looked in that office and it was awful. So many people crowded into 3 small waiting rooms, all sitting next to each other. If my new doctor is indeed in that office, I will have to think about looking for a new eye doctor and a new location. read more

I came to this eye center because the surgeon I was seeing at BronxCare (Dr. Natheneli) moved to this practice on the Grand Concourse. I would give him 5 stars. I would also give the nurse Ms. Johnson 5 stars. However, the practice as a whole feels like a factory. The waiting areas are usually packed. I'm now at my follow-up and was informed that the doctor was stuck on the train. The waiting area is packed and some are standing! I have no idea how long I'll be here. When I have to have my next cataract surgery I'll be looking elsewhere. read more

I came to this location, because my Opthamolgolist at bayside wanted me to see the cornea specialist. Staff Is very rude, not helpful at all, they have like a very bad attitude. Place is relatively clean, but the bathroom wasn't flushing properly. Initially an optometrist fellow saw me she was nice. The doctor was professional but not really showing a caring vibe at all. Whole experience was dissapointed coming from my 5 star bayside location. Will never come back again unless I have to because of my Opthamolgolist referral. Horrible. I arrive to the office at 10:30 for an 11:30 appt. The place was way to crowded particularly during the pandemic. A man in one of the waiting was on the phone talking without a mask. No one said anything. Patients who came after me where seeing first. Very disorganized I was there until 3:30 will not be coming back!!!. The staff was Friendly. I had surgery in both of my eyes, some time ago and i am well pleased of the out-come; no problems what so ever, no swelling, no pain afterwards, no redness, no blurred vision with me; my vision is clearer than ever. I went to pick up some glasses and I wrote my name on the clipboard that says so. The guy working there (chubby, lightskin and bald) was only calling the people that were there to order glasses. Had me waiting for about 30 minutes and I had another appointment to go to. I asked him nicely when he was going to call for pickups because I had another appointment to attend at 11:15. My mom was having problems with her vision and was referred to the Fromer Eye Center. What a blessing!! It turned out to be a very cloudy cataract and through all the testing and friendly staff, she was very comfortable when it was time to have it removed. From start to finish, they are very organized and friendly. They have a system of how things are done and it works!! Of course, if it's your first time there, as with any other visit to a drs office for the first time, the visit will be a little longer because of the paperwork and the thoroughness of the staff. Once the cataract was detected, and it was determined that surgery was a must, they scheduled a date, did the surgery and now her vision is crystal clear!! One of the patient liaison Omar Reynoso was so pleasant and professional. The first time I accompanied my mom he was very kind, warm, and most of all sincere. This came from being an amazing location for people with low income to become a horrible experience. First, I was just notify that they do not make time appointments a week or two a head of the procedure... What they rather do is call the person a day before to come in at any given time. My mother was schedule for a surgery at 930am. They call the day before and informed her that her schedule is being change to 630am. Since we live in Queens it is extremely inconvenient but we understand there is always extreme circumstances that can create those problems and we didn't want to wait two to three months more for another appointment. On the day of the surgery, I arrive at 6am as I was advise to be here half hour early and once I walk to give my feedback to their nasty receptionist... She informed me that the doctor just call!!!!, and he won't be in till 9am!!!! Wtf... Could you call us to informe us.... We come all the way from Queens... Woke up at 430 am to be here on the time you changed to now sit and wait 3hrs!!!! Horrible experience, horrible service! Remember... Even if you are on Medicaid.... The service is not free... This institution is not doing it for free! Hard paying taxes people that work in and out pays for this services and for them to be like this is a shame!!! I am sharing this experience to ensure that this doesn't happen to anyone else, especially the elderly people. This medical provider seems to be running a game and not an office. Please take the time to read my mother's experience below before booking your appointment. To start off, if I could give Fromer Eye Centers zero stars, I totally would. This place is the most unprofessional medical office I have seen, thus far. I recommended them to my mother, who is 70 years old, because it was close to our home. First, it took a long time for her to have an appointment on May 20th, and at the appointment they stated that my mother had to come back a month later, June 24th, to pick up her prescription due to COVID. Although, the place was very packed. The request was odd to me when my mother first told me because I know that all prescriptions are written on the day of the visit, but she didn't have a choice since she already invested hours of her time. Afterwards, my mother changed her insurance, which was before the next appointment date, from United Healthcare to Humana. She informed the office to learn if they accepted the new insurance, and they informed her that they didn't. However, my mother did not expect it to interfere with her appointment since it was to pick up a prescription. When it came close to the date of the visit the office called to express that they noticed her insurance had change, and that she would have to pay out of pocket. My mother expressed to them that the prescription was owed to her because she already had the examination. The Receptionist accepted my mother's reasoning, and the appointment was confirmed. On the day of June 24th, the office called to ask my mother if she can come in earlier, and that they needed her to bring her Humana card since the insurance was changed. I asked if they could email the prescription to my mother instead. This was when it was explained that they only completed half of the examination on May 20th for the health of her eyes, to limit the time spent in the office because of COVID. They will now charge for the second half, the half that would generate a prescription. I spoke to two women about this issue. I ended the conversation with the second person by expressing to her how shady the whole thing sounded, and that my mother was in desperate need for her prescription since she doesn't see well, and had lost her glasses. The woman sounded completely uncaring, and condescending, and continued to repeat the same thing. I pointed this out to her, and expressed that I would write a review expressing their unprofessionalism. She continued to show a lack care, and we hung up. Unfortunately, my mother already left for her appointment. I had to call back, and this time I spoke to someone claiming to be a different person named Marisol, who stated that the appointment was canceled. She took a short break to go over what was spoken with the other staff. She came back very certain that they accepted Humana, and apologized. I even told her about how at one point I was told they didn't accept it, and she ensured me that they did, and I was misinformed. Also, she clarified that the new insurance had to be active, which I confirmed, and asked her to call me if there were any problems when my mother arrived. I received a call back from Marisol while on the phone with my mother, who was at the office. Marisol stated that my mother's insurance card was being processed and it didn't seem that she had vision included in her plan. I informed her that my mother was completely covered. Marisol stated that she had double check, and everything would be alright if this was true. Then, I heard a problem on the phone while with my mother. She passed the receptionist she was speaking to, and they expressed that Humana does not cover the visit, and it would be out of pocket. My mother immediately canceled the visit and left. When my mother returned home, she informed me that they told her only the Medical part of the visit would be covered by Humana and not the prescription. Since everything seemed odd I contacted the previous plan provider, United Healthcare, to learn if Fromer Eye Centers had billed for the entire examination in May. The Representative expressed that the office never billed for that day, which would have been covered if they did. I also contacted Humana to learn what happened, and they expressed that the plan covers everything, and not just the medical portion of the examination. I wish I could give the place less stars. Nobody should go to this place. I had an appointment about a month ago and when I walked in the waiting room was full of over 50 people. The nurse said that the wait was going to be over three hours. I told her I have to go to work and can't sit here the whole day. That was a month ago. I rescheduled for today and went at 10:15 this morning. Still there was a full waiting room. I signed in and asked the nurse how long the wait was. She said at least an hour. I said how about if I go get breakfast and you text me when I'm ready. She said ok. I never got a text. I came back an hour later and waited in the office. Twenty minutes went by and she sent me to room 1J where my doctor apparently works out of. It's now just about 2p and I still have not seen the doctor. My whole day is finished. The rudeness of these people, to expect that I'm going to sit here all day. The arrogance of someone who makes me wait 4 hours to see a doctor is incredible. I have faster experiences in clinics and emergency rooms. I've never had to wait this long for a doctor appointment. I will never come back here again and I suggest you skip it also. They probably take all insurance and fill up the waiting room with people who are ok to sit here all day, who don't have jobs to go to. More to follow about this later. So I waiting till 2:15 and then got a refund of my copay and left. I have to find a new dr. And reschedule but I have a job to go to and I can't sit there the whole day. There are 4 doctors but they see over 400 patients a day. Another woman there said she was waiting three and a half hours also. So I think it's the way they operate. You are expected to wait along time and they don't care because they consider their time to be more valuable than yours. I will not go back. I have to find a new eye doctor now. Everyone who goes there waits three to fours hours, so I suggest you stay away. The sad thing is that a certain percentage of their customers are elderly who are willing to sit and wait all day and who will not read this review so they don't know how much they are being taken advantage of. I am so very very happy and Dr Chen is not even done working her miracles yet. I have now been to all 3 Fromer Eye Centers and I must say that everyone who works for Dr Fromer is a pleasure to meet. The receptionists, the technicians and even Dr. Fromer himself are all the nicest, friendliest most approachable group of medical professionals I have ever encountered. Dr Chen operated on my left eye on 09/13 and put in a permanent lens and I CAN SEE WITHOUT GLASSES. Sometimes I have to close my right eye but that's okay because she is fixing that one on 9/22. She is amazing. She chose exactly the right lens for me. I'm so excited that I don't have to wear glassed for the first time in 20 years. Today I went for my follow-up after having my second eye surgery with Dr susan Fromer. I am so overjoyed, delighted and happy with my sight now. I can see 100% better and I feel 20 years younger. The office staff are professional and kind both in the Park Avenue and Bronx offices. My left eye surgery was three weeks ago and I was so pleased I came back for the right eye. Dr Fromer is one of the best in the industry and you can see why by the amount of people awaiting her services in her offices. Yes, sometime you may have to wait a bit for your appointment but as I always say, " I don't eat in an empty restaurant and the crowd there are waiting for a reason". I usually don't take the time to write a referral but in this case I felt that I had to. As a father, my main concerns when visiting any office is are the staff competent and how are they going to manage my daughter. Needless to say I'm probably more nervous than my child is. Almost immediately I felt a sense of calm and understanding from the staff. They all greeted us with smiles and were patient with the process of dealing with a 3 year old. Although it's easy to cut corners just to get patients out the door, I felt a sense of investment to do things right and if that meant more time was needed, then so be it. My auntie who is a senior citizen was schedule for eye surgery mid November, while she gets ready no call from clinic to advice her of anything, she had to call the day before and was told because of Medicaid needed to wait for approval which they didn't het yet. December 11, 2018 she gets a call to be in the following afternoon 12/12/18 for surgery on her right eye 2pm, on the 12/12/18 after 9am she gets a call to come in as soonest possible I am her companion if I had left home for work as schedule she would have being by herself, in return I had to take the entire day off work. Once done she was told next surgery will be 12/26/18 but will get call with date, the call never came before Christmas nor after, I work in a law firm due to holidays my schedule is not flexible many people on vacation, my auntie apparently call after 8:30am and was told to be in at 11am and come to find out her eye surgery was done after 3pm which it made me very angry to find out, over 3hrs for a patient to wait is bad a senior citizen who's a diabetic outrageous.
