Had the privilege to eat here on Saturday night the 24th. Waterville can be proud of this great new place. I had the Scallops and my friend had the Lobster bowl which I can't wait to go back and try. We had brunch on Father's Day. Very nice. Attentive service and very good food. I asked for something not on the menu and they were able to make it no problem. The menu is varied with some traditional breakfast items and some unusual items. The restaurant is run by John Phillips Sandy returning to Waterville after 17 years away. My husband and I ate here for my birthday and had a wonderful experience. It was pretty crowded in the lounge area, with a lovely ambiance. We sat near the window and started with a dozen oysters, which were on special for $2/each. It was also half-price wine night, so I ordered a bottle of prosecco. My husband had the pork belly lettuce wraps and I got the deviled eggs. They came with two different types, but I requested all smoked salmon ones, as the others had bacon and I don't eat meat. We both loved our appetizers. For dinner, he had the short rib, which he said was to die for. I tried a bite of the grits over which it was served, and they were delicious. I had the lobster pappardelle, which was wonderful, as well. We both wrapped half of our dinners and saved room for dessert. He had the coconut panna cotta and I had the frozen key lime pie. He was not crazy about his dessert (he said the sauce overpowered the coconut), but I loved mine. What was truly wonderful about our experience was our server. I feel bad that her name escapes me, but she was blond and a mom of young children, with a ring we admired. Anyway, she was delightful, attentive and genuinely kind. We look forward to visiting again when in the area, especially when the weather warms up and we can dine outdoors by the fire pits. read more

My friends and I have been visiting the Front and Main almost every Saturday night to eat and have a good time. Tonight, they refused us service AFTER we sat down when they were still open. They closed at 10pm tonight, we were sat at 9:50. We only asked for a few rounds of drinks when we arrived, then was refused service at around 10:10pm while other customers were still being served drinks. The co-owner of Front and Main approached and gave us all an attitude claiming he told us only one round of drinks. He was very rude and left a sour taste in all of our mouths. Although we have stayed 2 hours after closing time ordering drinks almost every Saturday, but have also spend over $3000 just in drinks and tip their waiters 30% every time. Even after giving them this much money, he came over and gave us al an attitude about staying 10 minutes past closing. Do not recommend!!!! read more

So for starters, the bar staff was awesome! The didn't have my drink of choice so the bartender offered samples of the beers on tap for me to try until i found one i liked. The wait staff was attentive and earned a very good tip. The food was not up to par, i ordered the steak and my wife ordered the burger. The steak was delicious! Tender, juicy, flavorful but when it did come out (after about an hour) it was cold. My veggies and fries were also cold. This wasn't just my experience we had a party of 8 and it was all that way. I feel like for a "fancy" place they need to step up in the kitchen. read more

Nice place. Food was delicious, fresh, portions sorta small. Was nervous about fish being fresh but it tasted fresh and nicely cooked, not dried out at all. Service was fine, though I think it is new and kinks are still being worked out. Fine dining in Waterville. Will try again next year. read more

I was so excited to try an upscale option in the gritty city that I came of age in. Unfortunately this fell SO flat. My date and I specifically asked to see the well-advertised 5678 happy hour options but the hostess who was irked that we didn't have a reservation gave us full menus and seated us in the dining room where the blinding sun was inescapable. When the waitress arrived she explained that happy hour doesn't apply in the dining area. Our server was sweet and equally confused as to why we were in the dining area. Elegant but uncomfortable seating, a menu that would be considered pricey in Portland, and far too many drinks with fennel, it definitely says "trying too hard." We ordered cocktails. The St Olaf Sling was fine, but the Riverside Revival left much to be desired. Off to Mainely Brews for yummy drinks in pint glasses to wash the taste out. read more

When it arrived it looked like two huge portions, but it was really 10% chicken 90% breading, which was disappointing especially for the price. Other than that, things were really good. Just moved to Vassalboro from MA and heard aboit this restaurant from friends. A short 20 minute ride for us. The atmosphere is truly worth it even if you just stop in for a drink. We have been at least six times for dinner. Best oysters around, and although we usually don't get dessert the key lime pie is off the charts! Everything we have ordered from the appetizers to the front and main burger is out of this world. Recommend it to anyone looking for a nice night out or simply a comfortable bar to have drinks and appetizers. This is our second visit to Front and Main and neither disappointed. The atmosphere is sophisticated but not uptight, casual but swanky. We started with the Hamachi Crudo which was beautifully plated and delicious. For the main course, I ordered the risotto with scallops and my husband had the pan seared scallops. Both were incredible and the portions were generous. The spiced apple cake and Irish coffee were a delicious end to a wonderful meal. Our server Chase was very attentive, knowledgeable and provided outstanding service. Front & Main is welcome addition to the Waterville food scene. Definitely a new favorite! read more

After our brother passed away recently, our wonderful nieces and our nephews and their spouses from as far away as Nevada, Virginia, and Massachusetts wanted to take my sisters and I out to eat and gather as family. They asked me to choose the place and make the arrangements. Front & Main was the obvious choice! We reserved their private dining room for our party of 14. From the moment we stepped in the door, we were greeted so warmly. Everything was just perfect. The ambience, the appetizers, the drinks, our main courses, and the desserts were all superb! Our waitress Bri was phenomenal, as well as all the others who helped serve our meals. Special thanks to John Phillips-Sandy, their Food & Beverage Director, for going above and beyond for us. What impressed me the most, is how all our food was brought out to us simultaneously. That never happens anywhere else! FANTASTIC choice for an amazing meal. I think we said "this is the best ________ I have ever had" at least 3 times. Oysters and scallops were perfect!
