This Restaurant might be the best. I had the Prime Rib. My sis had the crab cakes. My niece had pasta primavera and her husband had the ribs. I tried everything and it was amazing. For appetizers I highly recommend the fried mushrooms. (10+). We also had the Spinach/Artichoke dip with toasted garlic bread. Amazing. The waiter was fantastic and the drinks were great. Then, after an amazing meal, we went downstairs and sang some Karaoke. If you are in the Winthrop/Readfield region I give this place a 10+. It's a must.

This was the worst visit to a restaurant I've honestly ever experienced. We arrived at 530pm and were told 45 minutes. Asked for drinks and put in an appetizer order and went outside to wait. 45 minutes turned into almost 2 hours. See there was a woman singing to recorded music and people didn't leave their tables. We checked on our table multiple times and were told 10 minutes or so. We watched as multiple parties that arrived after us were seated and eating. We weren't. So once we're were finally seated the waitress greeted us and let us know "just need to let you know that we are running about and hour and a half to get your food out." What? Oh, they let us know this was all because of a private party downstairs. But there wasn't a private party, just 2 large tables. This was a management issue and they did nothing, offered nothing except to let us know salads might come out quicker (it was only and hour.) all of this wasn't the waitresses issue. We actually felt bad for her Pic below was the men's bathroom. Classy. I'll be glad not to go back to the Vane again. Title of worst experience ever earned!

Good food, very informal, Pricing on the upper side of reasonable. Has a strong bar ambiance, so a heavy drinker might give it 4 stars.

What are they famous for you ask? Well, seafood...of course. Specifically, the lobster roll. My boyfriend loves the lobster roll! I had the popcorn chicken basket with crinkle fries that I could eat everyday if given the choice. The seasoning and breading are just right & fried until golden brown without sacrificing safe cooking or flavor. Another one of those busy places-it's a restaurant that attracts locals and tourists. They've always got inspirational quotes on their marquee. Outdoor patio seating (tables with umbrellas) and a no-frills, basic interior decor. Gives total seaside vibes.

They have the option for ordering takeout Ahead of time or online. There is significant outdoor seatting as well as a small interior dining room. The interior has one non gender handicap, accessible bathroom. The menu is not excessive, but the portions are generous. CAUTION: pay close attention to the prices. they will fluctuate and you should not assume what the final cost of your meal will be beforehand!! My clam basket and my daughter's 1/4lb roll (2 20 Oz drinks) totaled $65!! Now I will absolutely give credit to them for the clam portion being large and high quality. These were the type of onion rings that I prefer, which are thinner and more crunchy with less batter. That said, the total completely blew my mind.Because even with a very industry standard upcharge for onion rings in place of french fries.I had sticker shock. I grew up near Portland so I understand the price of seafood can change quickly. But I would say do some price shopping. Because this is more about the experience of the location since the quality of food does exist at other restaurants. In maine.

We sat outside on Belfast Bay at a table and waited for our number to be called. The view from the back deck is spectacular. I had a single 1 1/2 pound lobster and clam chowder. I am gluten-free. I asked about the chowder and they said it was gluten-free so I had some. The chowder was OK. Not thick at all (hence GF) with way more potatoes than clams. The clam chowder was good, but I wouldn't get it again. It's just not my style. The single lobster was excellent. The lobster was sweet and there was plenty of it. When you pick it up at the counter, they ask if you want the lobster cut for you. I appreciate that. Especially with the hard shell. It makes it much easier to crack open. My kids had the lobster roll. There was plenty of lobster and they enjoyed them very much. I recommend Young's Lobster Pound. Lobster was excellent. The view was spectacular. My only suggestion would be to have someone outside wiping down the tables or have spray and paper towels available so patrons can wipe down the tables and seats before use. The tables can get sticky with all the butter and lobster juice.

Lobster roll prices are one of the few things in life that regularly give me sticker shock, but this (currently under $30) is less than some highly-ranked shacks. And the view, by golly, the view. The view is worth an extra $10 to sit and look out at the water - the exact view of what Maine means to me. Anyway, we arrived at 11:42am on Wednesday; they open at 11:30am. It was pretty busy by that time - the line moves fast - many people already eating 12 minutes after opening. But when we left, probably 60-90 min later, the car line was very long. I'd recommend getting there 15 minutes before they open. We had the hot dog, not-pictured, but positive review from the two kids who chose that, as well as one who chose the grilled cheese. Three of us had lobster rolls, with nothing but rave reviews. Lobster rolls always look small to me, but it was packed and filling. Get both butter and mayo. Slaw, pickle, and chips - standard and good. Our lone steamed lobster ordered gave two thumbs up, also. Oh, and we started with clam dip. Like delicious chip dip - but with clams! Subtly seafoody. Worth the effort to check out McCloons. The whole area is beautiful - swing by Owls Head Lighthouse afterwards. Those few hours will be the way life should be.

I googled lobster shacks on the water and was led here. Couldn't be happier with the choice to come here. It's absolutely the most beautiful lobster shack I've ever been to. I got a full lobster which came with a pickle, bag of chips, coleslaw , lemon wedge and melted butter. My son got a lobster roll which came with the same sides. The total for both was $65.77. We got a table right by the water with an umbrella and it was peaceful, idyllic, and just perfect. We got there right when it opened at 11:30 so we had our choice of table, and parking was easy, but when we left almost an hour later, just about all of the tables were taken and the parking lot was completely full. It is definitely a popular place but for good reason. Maine is a top 5 state for me, so I'll definitely be back someday, and for now will spread the word to others to come check this place out.
