AVOID THIS LOCATION (across from Walmart - in same shopping center as Marshall's, CVS, Taco Bell)…read moreLIKE THE PLAGUE. UNLESS YOU HAVE 20+ MINUTES TO KILL, GO ELSEWHERE - they are not the only game in town! (Head over to the Sbux in Harris Teeter across the highway - you will get served MUCH faster - and for chrissake, it's just a lousy stinkin' Sbux drink nbd.) I walked over from Marshall's for a "quick" or what I thought was quick anyway (!) hot latte. That's it. Nothing more. Nothing less. Walked in and ordered at the counter - NO ONE ELSE IN LINE AND 2 PEOPLE AHEAD OF ME WAITING FOR THEIR DRINKS. TOOK THEM 25 MINUTES TO MAKE MY DRINK. NO LIE. Had I mobile ordered though, I would have gotten it MUCH sooner. Mobile order customers were in and out in no time. Baristas crankin' them mobile order drinks out like there was no tomorrow. I absolutely cannot stand Sbux shops that prioritize mobile orders over walk ins. MAKES NO SENSE AND IS INFURIATING. Do NOT come here if you don't mobile order or if you're in a hurry or during peak coffee times (early am, weekends any time, etc). Even after 20 minutes waiting for my drink, the barista had THE NERVE to announce "sorry folks - we're doing the best we can - thanks for your patience - we'll be right with you." The number of people waiting for their drinks to be made kept getting bigger and biggee - the waiting area filled up. And it stilllllll took another 5-10 mins for me to get my drink. ANDDDD I actually had to go up to the barista to ask when my drink would be ready - she asked for my name, I told her, she checked and my drink was sitting on the counter with another batch of already made drinks! No "oops" "sorry" "my bad". Nothing. LAST TIME I WILL BE GOING TO THIS LOCATION. RIDICULOUS. AND ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH THE AGGRAVATION.

This was a festive treat during our visit to the Outer Banks earlier this year. After reading the…read morereviews and looking over the craft bagel menu, I knew we had to make a brunch stop to see how the locals live! Barrier Island Bagels offers a variety of bagel sandwich options, build your own bagels with different spreads, and there are cocktails available, too! Fancy! On our visit we were seated pretty fast even though the place was full. Our server was friendly and attentive. My husband and I really enjoyed the two toasted bagel sandwiches we ordered and shared. One was sweet and the other savory. There were several customers picking up orders and the counter stayed busy with walk-ins, too. This is definitely a popular, fun, and cozy option for locals and tourists alike.

We knew it would be a fun spot because of the full parking lot. We were pleasantly surprised to get seated fairly quickly. The menu included Craft Bagels that come toasted, and a variety of drink options. We ordered The Delbert on a Sesame bagel and the French Kiss on a French Toast bagel to share. Both were delicious! Barrier Island Bagels is a great option for brunch with a local flare that's so inviting. It has something to please every tastebud. We will definitely be back!

If I could take an underfed, comparatively uneducated European to any single establishment in the…read moreOuter Banks, it would be Donutz on a Stick, simply for the fact that it would be screaming "yes, we will be dying of diabetes faster than you and yes, we will be experiencing something significantly more delightful than you ever could in your sad cloudy country." The name says it all, leaving out only the fact that the malt milkshake with extra malt is "loaded with malt." My issue with this creamery, aside from the extra doctor's visit I have had to schedule, is that a team of inclined Inuits with ice blocks could not Isolate this Ice-cream Emporium from the intense heat it so emanates. TLDR: HOT INSIDE, NOT ICE ICE, BABY.

The pattern one may notice across my reviews is that my family and I are creatures of habit and when we are in town for our annual family vacation we have some non-negotiable stops. Donutz On A Stick being one of them! While they are tucked into a corner in the Wee Winks Square shopping center, just follow the fresh smell of baked goods :D While they also serve ice cream (I'm sure also good for Summer months especially), you obviously have to get some donuts while you're here. They have a variety of options to choose from (and a cute display window to see what they look like and help you choose, or make the decision harder depending on who you are haha). A small stick is 2 donuts of the same kind and a large stick is 4 donuts total, 2 of 2 flavors (or 4 of the same if you're really committed ;D). You just can't beat the melt-in your mouthness of freshly made donuts. As in, made when you order!! As pictured, we're fans of the rainbow, tuxedo especially, but you really can't go wrong, because the base donuts are solid quality, so the toppings are just whatever suits your fancy in the moment. If you're a coffee person, make sure to get an iced coffee to go with your donuts, they make their own iced coffee cubes so your drink never gets watered down even as it melts! So smooth, so tasty! Cause we come around Thanksgiving, it gets dark early. The shopping center doesn't appear to be well lit at night, so don't let that dissuade you from an evening treat. They're open! And they also update their hours online, so google should usually be accurate as well :)
