Came in for my appointment and the office made me wait 30 minutes only to tell me that the dentist was so far behind that he wouldn't be able to finish cementing my crown. Then the receptionist tried to tell me that they would be charging me a 40 dollar fee to reschedule the appointment unless I wanted to wait until he was finished with two other patients. When I'm spending thousands of dollars somewhere I expect a business to treat me with respect and accommodate me. In my previous visits to this dentist the Dr. did not use enough local anesthetic, and actually caused me quite a bit of pain. Two fillings he has done are still sensitive to the touch. Also, each time I've come in I've noticed Dr. Ramos was working on 2-3 other people during my visit. Awful customer service, both the staff and Dr. Ramos are to blame. read more

As another reviewer mentioned, Dr. Romeo Ramos and team are the best. My main complaint with most dentists is their aggressive and heartless approach to cleaning and flossing. I've recently completed my second cleaning and I will definitely stick with him. It's always tough to find new doctors/dentists when moving to a new area. I initially just looked at my insurance list of dentists and chose one of the first, which brought me to calling Western Dental and making an appointment. From the start of that call, something just didn't seem right. Then I checked yelp and they had horrible reviews. Then I searched yelp for whatever dentists were also covered by my insurance, and Dr. Ramos came up with good reviews, and I'm very glad I came across the reviews here, because they were spot on. Frontier Dental is a very professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant office atmosphere. Granted, I have good teeth, and was just in for a cleaning, but it was obvious they were not out to just sell me on needless procedures. The staff was extremely accommodating, so much so that even after settling in one chair, they let me change chairs so I could watch the World Cup while I got my teeth cleaned! I had made an appointment with Romeo Ramos, I went there 15 minutes before the appt time, they gave me paperwork which took me about 15 minutes to finish. Before making my appt, earlier a few weeks ago on the phone after giving info to them about my insurance, they checked in their system and told me that I would NOT have to pay anything but when I showed up for the appt., they wanted me to pay $150 for their services. I can understand that errors can happen but I just inquired about the surprise charge and to answer that the receptionist took lot of time going back and forth to where the dentist was situated. I was even okay to pay the surprise amount which was a surprise to me becuz before they did not mention it despite my asking on the phone earlier. After my paperwork was done, they told me that I took too long to finish it and that dentist would see the next patient and that I would have to reschedule my appt. So after all the paperwork and waiting, they decided that it is okay to ask a customer reschedule the appointment beacuse they think that he took too long to finish the paperwork when it was them who took long to justify their SURPRISE asking CHARGE. The dentist would not come out and talk and made the rececptionist come in and out of the office. The receptionist was a good lady and very kind. I love Dr Ramos! Going to the dentist is generally pretty miserable but Dr Ramos makes it bearable. I never feel like I am being rushed through the exam. He is attentive, gentle and polite. Dr Ramos usually does the cleaning himself instead of one of the dental assistants. I feel like most dentists are usually trying to push more services than I need. They always try to get me to do the teeth whitening or want me to straighten out my crooked tooth or push for the deep cleaning trying to scare me with stories of gum disease. Dr Ramos is a dentist, not a salesman. He has told me that my teeth are in great shape and I don't need any of those expensive treatments. I'm fine with a little crooked and not movie star white. I don't like to have the x-rays done and so they let me push it off for as many visits as possible. Then they are always very quick and efficient when the x-rays do need to be taken. As someone who really doesn't like going to the dentist I just can't say enough good things about Dr Ramos. I very highly recommend him. read more

Amazing,compassionate and very prompt on time. We had been up looking for dental office to accept my fiances insurance who was suffering from horrible tooth pain and originally went to western dental at 8am didnt get out til 1030 and found out they dont accept his insurance so they were just going to do procedure and charge him out of pocket. SO .....we left looking for another dental office and I remember theres one close to our house FRONTIER DENTAL CARE. AWESOME...the receptionist NORMA was very friendly and helful because by this time we were frustrated and didnt know what to do she helped my fiance find out details of his dental coverage and managed to squeeze him in on a late saturday morning. Very friendly and customer oriented. Thanks frontier dental care for helping ny fiance feel better and not making us wait unecessary time like western dental. Great staff!!! I cannot imagine how there could be any reviews that are not 5 stars for Dr. Ramos and his staff. Like many people, I am very fearful of going to the dentist after many painful and uncomfortable experiences. I moved away and visited other dentists for a couple of visits - as little as possible as I fear going in. One was great and not under my insurance - complimented the excellent work on my crowns that Dr. Ramos performed years ago. I could feel that they were done to perfection by Dr. Ramos, but to have another well respected dentist note this just gave me more trust in Frontier. Another local dentist that I visited under my insurance has been satisfactory for routine care, but I always missed the way Frontier and Dr. Ramos did things. I developed pain about 4 months ago and since it was not getting resolved called Frontier for a second opinion. The phone call was welcoming and I had an appointment within 2 days. Dr. Ramos performed and exam - GENTLY and diagnosed the problem, explained to me in detail what was going on, and made a referral for me. The front staff called the referral in and was able to get me an appointment the same day. Of course, there was an opening, but it does come down to the little things such as a phone call for me, the patient, from Frontier's front staff. As a doctor myself, I can say first hand that the little things such as a phone call make a difference and there is no doubt that Frontier greatly helped me to be pain free ASAP. The doctor I was referred to was very professional and excellent as well. ALL procedures yesterday were pain free and I write this review without pain for the first time in months! Going to frontier dental care was a great experience for me. As I walked into the office I was instantly greeted with smiles and asked how my day was going. The paperwork was easy to fill out and I was taken back to my seat very quickly. When I sat down I was offered a glass of water and they turned the tv on for me. Soon after Dr. Romeo Ramos greeted me and asked what problems I have been having with my teeth. He started off by doing an oral exam. His assistant was very careful when taking x-rays so that they did not make my mouth uncomfortable. The teeth cleaning was great. His assistant continuously asked if I needed a break or needed to rinse my mouth out. After my cleaning was done, I was recommended a treatment plan in order to keep my mouth healthy. Since this initial visit I have come back for more work and continuously was taken care of. I highly recommend Dr. Romeo Ramos and his staff. read more

Dr. Ramos is the best. I have had many poor dentist experiences - PAIN and unnecessary procedures. Therefore, I am a big chicken. Today I had a crown repaired after a visit with Dr. Ramos last week for a consult. I sat in the chair stressing and I felt my heart rate increase and my knuckles were white in anticipation of the pain from the local anesthetic injection - WooHoo! I mean I never knew I had an injection at all from that 4 inch needle we all know about. I never felt anything from start to finish. Very thorough and gentle. No rushing and no pain. I was fit with a temporary crown until the new one is complete. Did I mention that I developed a cavity under the crown that was repaired first - again I never felt anything! Awesome. The temporary crown is perfect and was placed with precision. I need other work and we are working on a plan that works best for me. No pressure and no unnecessary dental work. I have been to a couple of dentists in Oakland and was given estimates of $5,000-6,000 and root canals, etc. I had a chance to see my digital x-rays and the reasoning behind the recommended treatments from Dr. Ramos. No radical recommendations, just what I need to stay healthy. I have been trained in veterinary dentistry, which is the same as for us humans, so I can read a dental x-ray and have been trained in the appropriate dental care. No root canals needed, my friends. Interesting how some dentists scare you into unnecessary treatments - Do you think they benefit ($) from the treatments they do? You bet. So be careful and go to Dr. Ramos. Great to find a professional, caring and ethical dentist. Glad I was referred there by friends. The staff is great. Amy will get everything set up for you. I live in Oakland and drive 35 minutes out there happily. The office is professional and comfortable. They make you feel as good as you ca: TVs, shaded glasses for the lights, and caring people. I have a new appreciation for dental care now and look forward to my next dental work with this dental group. I will be patient as long as they will take me! My mouth was only numb for about 2 hours total and I feel great. read more
