The interior and menu gives off an old fashion / classical American restaurants vibe. Staff is friendly but the service is quiet slow. Do not go if you are in a rush. Great place to dine if you want to take your time. Some food variety but limited options for vegetarians/ vegans. Food: --They have a self serve salad bar that's is not too bad. It's mainly kept clean though at later times crumbs here and there. --lunch: got a BLT w/o Mayo. It was ok but would have been better if bread was toasted more & if they had more bread options. --dinner: Salmon steak: I opted for poached and wow I was amazed of how great it tasted!! Would come back for just the salmon. The dressings/sauces were not that good. They forgot to give me a hot roll, but still a very filling dinner plate as it comes with salad bar, potato(or fries), vegetables & dessert. --dessert: Peach Cobbler--got it with a scoop of ice cream. Nostalgia, meh, and dated. The Frontieer Grill reminds me a lot of the old West Texas steak houses my grandparents would take me to in the early 90s late 80s. The furnishings definitely showed some age. The food was hit and miss and was really nothing that stood out in any way. The steak was just a steak, nothing special about it, as was the roll and salad bar, nothing really stood out. The soup was good, but much like the rest of the food, it was just soup. The veggies that came with the steak tasted like microwaved frozen mush, and the potato was dry and again, meh, it was a potato. Let me start off by saying I took one star off because it does seem expensive for being such a small town diner. Other than the prices, we really enjoyed everything! My coffee tasted great! You actually get some good creamers brought to your table,so it's not that disgusting powder packets of creamer that some other diners have. I got the the one egg dish that came with hash browns and your choice of toast. You can get a meat but it costs more and I didn't see the worth in paying so much more for meat. My hash browns were good, but usually I ask them to be cooked well done so they are crispy, but I forgot to ask this time. They weren't super crisp but you get a pretty big portion of them. My egg was supposed to be over medium but there was quite a bit of runny white still in my egg. The flavor was great though. I picked sourdough toast and it was very good. I love me some sourdough! There are some different jams on the table for your toast. All in all, it was a great breakfast, but the price was a little steep. read more

Why in the world would people put this as less than a four or five star? I give this a five star because this is everything a small town country diner should be. Is this a big city dining experience? No, but what would it be and why would one expect that. This is a lovely diner in a small town that is everything it claims to be. Me and my mom stopped here for lunch on the way through Roosevelt and what a lovely spot. It's old school, it's great quality, the service is lovely, and the food is fresh and nice. All the things a county diner needs to be. Understand what a country diner should be and this will deliver. - Food: We both got the soup and salad bar and it couldn't have delivered better. The salad bar was super fresh and everything you'd need for a delicious salad. I couldn't have enjoyed it more. This is the best salad bar in the Uintah basin. No question. We also got the soup and it was potato and ham and the ham and bean. Both were homemade and seriously so good. I was so impressed. This meal also came with a roll or scone. I got the roll (amazing and homemade) and my mom got the scone (AMAZING and homemade). I just can't sing enough praises. - Service: Could not have been better. Service was bad, the hostess flat out rude, "Can I help you" in the most agitated manner , ummm yes you work here. & we walked in & no acknowledgment that we even existed.The waitress tried to make our experience accommodating, so that was appreciative. We asked locals where to eat, but unfortunately they were closed, so on a hunch we walk in here, EMPTY (terrible sign) We order Chips & guac as an appetizer, 10.99, they come out with Tostitos chips, canned guac, (heck I don't even think it had avocado in it), & salsa that tasted like lunchable nacho salsa. Then we ordered chicken fried chicken, & chicken tenders. I mean if I wanted heated frozen food I would've gone to the grocery store & done it myself 10x cheaper. Rolls were okay, salad bar was great until I saw someone sneeze in the salad bar & saw some flies flying around. The vegetables were " steamed" but they were cold, & lowk kinda odd. We got dessert... peach crisp, doesn't even seem worth to try. The total was 62, I had a good laugh, laughing at how ridiculous this was. I used to enjoy the food here a decade ago. On a recent visit it was disappointing, with an expensive menu and average food. My steak was cooked properly but bland. Her hot beef open sandwich was huge but bland. Our young waitress was wonderful, and we can't say enough about her. Apparently she couldn't serve alcohol, though. About the salad bar, off course I won't expect the restaurant would cut fresh cabbage just an hour before closing at night. It's all understandable at this particular time of hour, especially in a little town with only few restaurants and stores exist. The place was clean, and that is important to me. The look (interior) of the restaurant is still the same as it look before Adam & Eve were created. Nothing changed. Except the food is better! And no more flies flying around your food like 3 years ago. But hey, when we enter the dining room, there were lots of people inside having dinner. It means many love this place. Which is a good sign. We need restaurants in every town. Nice and delicious . I should come earlier to get a fair judgement before I make comments on the internet. I've now eaten here twice. The food is good. The prices are on the high side of what you'd expect for said food. The service could be a lot better. You could argue that they're under-staffed, but these days a lot of businesses are under-staffed on purpose. The first time, i did not receive the scone with my meal, and the staff tried to talk me out of getting the scone that, they made it very clear, they fully intended to charge me for. I was told that due to the backlog from the large dinner party that arrived after everyone at my table had ordered, there was a large backlog of scones to be made and delivered. But i ordered *before those people were even seated, so, mine should be at the head of the line, right? Today, it was not busy at all, but we still waited 45 minutes for our food. Which was good. My fiancé and I sat down after doing a quick check of the local grills. We seated ourselves and had to request a waitress..no menus of course. Just Ads which I'm sure they are getting a "kickback"..but I'm not looking for an oil change just a good steak...not happening here! We ordered 2 steaks and both were pan fried and the vegetables were cold.... plate was cold. Nope. Not recommended. I travel a lot for business, and after not coming here for years, I finally decided to give it a try. At least now I know. I ordered the chicken-fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and mixed vegetables. I chose the salad bar, which was quite good, but my meal was poorly prepared and served. The chicken was pretty good, but very dry. Needed some gravy but NOT the stuff that was on the potatoes. The mashed potatoes were definitely canned or rehydrated, and what little gravy (white gravy - well, gray gravy) there was was thick and lumpy. The vegetables were obviously canned and awful. Worst dinner experience ever. I used to love this place but I took my family out for dinner tonight and it was horrible. My steak had no flavor. Waitress didn't offer steak sauce. I ordered a baked potato and wasn't offended any toppings. Waitress didn't apologize for not bringing all the food. Our dinner was supposed to come with dessert and we didn't even get it. Last night we stopped by, 4 of us ordered the ribeye. It was awful. When it was brought to the table it actually smelled bad.... like it had been thawed and refrozen a couple of times. The steak had no grill marks... looked like it had been cooked on a flat iron. We all left our steaks barely touched. We had been here previously and cheaper items were pretty good. Food is very plain from the burgers to the steaks. The service was quick to seat you, the food takes forever (sometimes cold) but the waitresses have attitude towards different races. I just wasted $40 at the worst restaurant in America. I placed an order on the phone. It will be ready in 20 minutes. Went to the grill and they bring me one order every 7 minutes. If you're not a local, don't expect to be treated with respect and welcoming hospitality. My husband and I were traveling from California to Colorodo, and were looking for a decent place to have breakfast. Upon entering this joke of a restaurant, my husband and I waited a while, to finally be acknowledged by one of the staff members. She told us to sit anywhere we liked, and we did. After a few minutes of sitting down at the table, I got up and asked for menus, as no menus were given to us when we sat down. This didn't go well by one of the incompetent waitresses there, so she slammed the silverware on the table along with the menus, and basically ignored our presence thereafter. We made eye contact with one of the other waitresses there, after another short while, but it was no use. As we sat there waiting, we noticed other people were entering the restaurant. They were being greeted with all smiles, and were promptly given coffee and their orders were being taken, while we just sat there waiting to atleast get a cup of water. When one of the waitresses finally came up to take our order she just stood there rolling her eyes waiting for us to speak. She didn't introduce herself, or greeted us in any way. No verbal contact was made from her part whatsoever. It was very hostile behavior from her part, and she made it very obvious that she didn't want us there. We finally got the message; we got up and left. We had never experienced something like this before, and I can say with all accuracy that we will think twice about stopping and eating at a small town mediocre diner like this, with incompetent, small minded corrupted biased souls, that have obviously never stepped out of their Godforsaken town, and are ignorant to any other kind, but their kind. Seriously beware of this restaurant. Don't waste your time or your money. It's not worth the bitter taste you'll walk out of there with, because besides the worst customer service ever, it's also an old cheap looking restaurant that deserves zero stars. This place is awful. I found myself in Roosevelt while visiting my grandma in the hospital. Getting sick of fast food, I called up to place a pickup order. I've never heard a voice so underwhelmed to be doing their job. We ordered a grilled cheese, a scone and a cup of soup. Pretty streamlined, right? This seemed to highly confuse the girl on the other end of the phone. Upon pickup, I walked in to an empty restaurant (always a bad sign) and approached three girls discussing other employees. I waited to be greeted and when that didn't happen, I explained I was there for a pickup order . Nobody looked at me, instead two girls walked away while the main Debbie Downer bagged up my order. Kids, let me tell you a story. Out in the Roosevelt area for work, I asked the guy at my hotel "Where can I get a good plate of eggs for breakfast?" He thought about it for a bit, then pointed me to McDonalds. I asked the guy at the gas station, and he ALSO said McDonalds, but when I mentioned I was really looking for something a bit more "sit down", he finally pointed me to the Frontier grill. The attached restaurant to the Frontier Motel (I'm pretty sure it's a chain - I saw an almost identical looking setup a few towns over), this was a dark, tired, depressing looking place. There's lots of "Old West" looking wood tables, chairs, and booths, a carpet that looks like it was laid down during the Nixon administration, and a big salad bar that was closed for cleaning when I came in. Told to seat myself after I stood in the lobby for a few minutes, a server eventually came by with a breakfast menu. I asked for water and got a tiny sippy cup. When I asked for a larger glass, she gave me a carafe to fill the sippy cup with. I settled on a western omlette that looked like it might have a bit of bite, and decided to ask for "extra peppers" in it. What I got was an omlette that probably came from an eggs mix with what seemed like re-heated veggies and some "ham" in it that I'm pretty sure was Spam. A little tabasco sauce helped it all go down, but if that really is the best sit down breakfast option in town, I'm starting to see why so many people are thinking Mickey Ds. read more

Frontier Grill, how do I loathe thee? Let me count the ways: Admittedly, I was glad they were open. It was after 9PM in this podunk town and the pickins were slim. So I strolled in and sat right down. I could start by complaining about the sh**ty country music. But, I have a pet peeve when ethnic restaurants play pop music instead of music that matches the ethnicity, so for this restaurant, homogenous twangy crap it is. Hoping against hope, I order the Chicken Cordon Bleu. I text my wife my choice, and she advises that it will probably be exactly like the frozen hockey pucks to which we sometimes resort at home. (In our defense, they are low in calories.) Damn if she isn't right! It may be from the exact same company! Frozen, small, flavorless. Yuck. Accompanied by limp, bland, straight-from-the-gallon-can mixed vegetables and a mountain of undercooked fries. The best part is: when I order, the server tells me I can have my choice of roll or scone. Scone, I think? That sounds interesting. What kind of scone? I ask. Oh, a plain scone, and it comes with honey butter! That's the ticket, I practically shriek. Then my meal comes, and with it my "scone:" a saucer-sized piece of fried dough. Come on Utah! Have you never seen a real scone? Anyway the worst part is, I can't resist fried dough and eat the whole thing. Curse you Frontier Grill! To top off my peak experience here in Roosevelt Utah, 10 PM rolls around. (This place is open until ten, which to me means anyone can walk in up until 10 and be served, so really you have to stay until around 11. That's the way it always worked in the restaurants I have worked in. ) The server starts rushing me out! Do you want your dessert (which is included in the meal) she asks; she might as well have been wagging her head from side to side as she asked it. Hell yes! I say. (It was pudding, and not very good pudding.) Then while I'm poking at it she brings the bill and asks me to pay it right then! I'm a simp and give her an almost 15% tip. I should have given her nothing, but I suspect she was acting on orders from a domineering manager. Frontier Grill, I will never darken your door again! We have come here for decades and watched it crumble under management that cannot even sand and redo it's once beautiful wood tables or update the carpet which is older than wrinkly me. The salad bar is still good, so are the scones (on Utah, scones are not crumbly pastries but deep fried dough). I'd give it two stars but feel so sad to see the restaurant treated so poorly. There are 25 dollar plates, things average at 13 dollars, which is super expensive for this region. The prices have gone up so much, I wouldn't even care of any of it blew back into care of the premises. I think they need a smaller menu so they can make money, make a few things really well, and update the premises. read more

EDIT: I heard they got some new cooks and tried them again recently and everything we ordered was fresh and tasted very good...will try again and if they have improved I will change my review accordingly. The scones are homemade but not much else. The vegetables are straight from a can, potatoes are like paste. Fries and burgers are what you would expect, the fish and steaks are overpriced and not prepared very well. The prices have gone up considerably in the last year and the quality has gone down. One of the best steaks I ever had was at this restaurant. Their meats and selections are all excellent, and are well worth their price. Their fries are also quite delicious and well seasoned. Where they fall flat are other foods they offer. Their soups taste like they are from cans and their vegetable sides for their entres are obviously frozen and then heated when ordered. If they focused on how to do other selections on their menu fresh and made from scratch I think they'd be a good contender for one of the best restaurants in Utah. I've been here several times this year, for breakfast, lunch, dinner and just pie. The staff is friendly, the service is reliably quick, and the food is consistently good. They have all the menu options you would expect to see at a diner... lots of choices. All my breakfast favorites like pancakes, waffles, eggs, hash browns, omelets, french toast, cereal, bagels. I like the flavored creamers for your coffee, and they make their own blueberry syrup. Connected to the Frontier Motel, it's an easy way to get breakfast after rolling out of bed... or grab lunch/dinner/pie before walking to one of the two movie theaters in town. read more

2 to 3 times per month I'd take my workers to lunch to say "Thanks" for jobs well done, and the Frontier Grill was chosen at least once a month for over 18 years. Even though ownership changed hands they were able to keep some of the best aspects of the experience. The chicken friend steak was bland and had no seasoning. It was pre made and frozen. The potatoes were trash and they friend to hide the awful food by smothering it in a massive load of white gravy. Salad was just iceberg and dressing nothing else and they don't even have Caesar?!? Ministroni I soup was the only palatable thing. The "roll" was stale and tasted like it was baked in dirt. THE BATHROOM smellier like someone had spicy diarrhea and then made an air freshener out of it. I would say some customer just blew it up, by I went in there in an hour difference and it smelled just as bad.
