I've eaten here four times, and this last visit will be my final one. Every single visit has taken between 2.5 to 3 hours for dinner. After being seated, we waited about 30 minutes just to place our order. Then came the long wait, we sat and sat and sat. After nearly two hours, the food finally arrived, and my tri-tip was cold. Unfortunately, the consistently slow service and poor experience make it hard to recommend this place. Save yourself the frustration and head up the road to somewhere else. If you are headed to or from Nine Mile Canyon you may pass through Myton if take highway 40 to get there. I gave it four stars in my head before ever going to type up my review. Ambiance - whatever, just some basic faux cowboy western type decor. Service was solid, nothing to get excited about but your order was taken quickly and the food came out in a timely manner and was hot! I am assuming that the various staples such as the onion rings, fries, etc. all came off the back of a Sysco truck. But the portions were generous and certain items just rocked. I got a classic BLT and it was loaded with bacon, and that in turn, had incredible flavor. I learned that it came from a local butcher called Chuck's Meats and if I had a cooler I would have stopped and bought some to take home. What is Hideout? It's your standard old fashioned roadside tavern. You get solid food at a good price and leave happy to have eaten there while traveling to and fro to some great scenery. read more

We were getting a bit hangry while traveling across Utah from one small town to the next, with our culinary options looking bleak. Just as hope began to fade, the Hideout popped up on my Yelp feed! After a double check to make sure I wasn't hallucinating - we quickly pulled into the parking lot. Despite seeming to be in the middle of nowhere, the parking lot was full and the restaurant was quite busy. Despite this, we were seated almost right away. Service was prompt and friendly. With most everything on the menu being made from scratch in the kitchen - the flavors were all amazing. The star of the show was the 16oz ribeye, served on a red-hot stone that you tend yourself, so you can cook it just the way you like it. That ribeye was one of the best I've had in recent memory. We also had the chicken fried steak, which was breaded by hand from freshly cut cube steak and made to order. The kids meals were generous in size and were wonderful as they were all quiet and enjoyed the meal! We also celebrated my son's first birthday and they brought out freshly made ice cream on a fresh, hot brownie that was really, really, really good! Interesting steak spot seriously in the middle of no where. I came in during the dinner rush and sat at the door for a while because there's really no hostess but it says to wait. Someone acknowledged me after about 5 mins and i sat at the bar. Steak on a stone is the thing to get here which is a unique way of cooking it at your table. I had the filet which was a thicker cut and took a while to cook on the stone. The filet itself was good, moist in the inside and the stone which was really hot crisped the outside well too. We went to the Hideout for the first time tonight. Service was good. I ordered a sandwich that came with avocado. I am very allergic. So I ordered it without avocado. He repeated it back to me and said "no avocado". Of course, it came with instead of without and I had to send it back. My husband ordered the pork chop. Way too tough to cut with a table knife so he had to ask for a steak knife. Then the taste was "OK" but it was very difficult to chew. My wife and I have eaten here a few times. Great ambiance. Wait staff is above average. Not as loud as Texas Roadhouse. Their smoked meats are above average, perhaps among the best in town. Not as good as I've had at Dickey's, but still good. The ribs, burnt ends, brisket ... all good. The chicken wings -- horrible; not much meat, not much flavor, bad texture ... and expensive for what you get. I've never tried one of their steaks because if I wanted to be responsible for cooking a steak, I'd cook it at home. Clever concept -- making customers responsible for how well done their steaks are by serving it on a hot stone. Kind of like the fondue concept, but without the oil. But I don't want to cook my own steak at a restaurant. We'll be back -- for the ambiance, the kinda chill environment, and the (mostly) really good food. read more

This is a cool hidden spot right off highway 40 close to Myton (Roosevelt area). I was really looking forward to having an amazing meal based on what we had heard from locals and the reviews. The good: We didn't have to wait long to be seated, even on a busy Friday night (it was packed even during pandemic times) since the facility is very large. They had a lot of large tables for bigger parties, which is helpful for my crew. My kids seemed to enjoy their food and the atmosphere. They liked watching the other tables get their hot stone steaks. It was a neat spectacle for them. It also has a cool farm-like feel. Our service was also good. The waitress was kind and attentive. The not so good: I ordered a New York steak. I had it cooked by the kitchen vs. the hot stone method because there were little reaching hands at my table and I wanted to avoid any potential accidents. It was one of the toughest steaks I have ever eaten. I love a good New York steak and I was epically disappointed. I only ate a few bites and could not touch the rest.... mostly because I couldn't even chew it. I felt like an elderly denture wearer trying to get through my bites. They also had limited sides including the salad bar being closed (understandable due to the current climate). I ordered a side salad as a result, and it was beyond boring. I thought maybe the dressing would be good since it's a small town place and even that was underwhelming. The price of the meal wasn't terrible, but not being able to eat a majority of the food and leaving hungry made it feel more expensive. Even considering my fairly poor experience they are building a second store in Heber and I would give it another try with the hot stone experience this time. I've had a lot of high-end steaks in my short life. Steaks that cost well over $100 for just 6-8 oz. I ordered the 16oz ribeye on the hot stone... WOW. To state that my life changed, that I walked out a better person is an understatement. absolutely the worst brisket in Utah. imagine a pot roast cooked for 10 hours without any broth. I could barely cut it with a steak knife. it was also supposed to be smoked but if anything the drizzled some liquid smoke on it and called it good. I have never walked my food back to the kitchen but made an exception in this case. the waitresses got defensive and got the manager. I politely explained brisket is supposed to be very moist and she just looked at it and said yeah that looks pretty dry....... a waitress tried to offer me a steak instead but after seeing the manager think the brisket was okay and them trying to convince me everyone loves their brisket I told them if this is the type of brisket you serve and think is good I want nothing to do with your steaks. Potatoes tasted fake and the coleslaw was tasteless. There aren't a lot of must try places in the area but this is definitely one of them! If you haven't had the opportunity to cook your steak at your table on a 500 degree rock you need to try it. It's a pretty cool experience and you can cook your steak exactly to your taste. You can also get it served with their bourbon glaze which is one of my favorite sauces. While the hideout is known for their steaks, their other dinner entrees are solid as well. Lava bowl: you can get beef or chicken in a spicy pasta sauce served with tortillas. While this probably isn't the best meal to eat on a date, (it gets messy due to the melting cheese) it's a unique treat. Excellent flavors, it is on the spicy side. 50/50 burger: this burger is a blend of bacon, pork, and beef. To me it has just the right amount of bacon flavor. It's so tender it nearly falls apart. Anything fried there is good: green beans, mushrooms, fries, cheese sticks, and onion rings. My only complaint would be that the marinara for the cheese sticks had an off taste. read more

Every time we have gone to this restaurant, not only was the food outstanding, so was the service. This Saturday our server was "Tina Brown", her bubbly personality was delightful and made us very comfortable. What a fun experience! I had the New York steak on a stone, and it was delicious! The sides were pretty typical for restaurants, but no complaints there. We had the fried green beans (most likely not homemade, but still very fresh tasting). I went at the start of the lunch hour and we were the only ones there, but our waitress was very nice and attentive. The chef even checked to see how we were doing. Waitress: Mandy- sweeter than Splenda Words are cheap, a picture's worth a thousand of them, and those two put together (i.e. this review) do not come close to bestowing the deserved justice upon this place. It's up to you to do The Hideout, and most importantly yourself, an iota of justice by simply stopping by. The name of this place is literally a description of the restaurant. It literally hides out on the side of HWY 40/191 just south of Roosevelt, UT. You should see a sign that indicates where the hwy exit is. At the time of this writing, I found the place near a small herd of what looked like Black Angus cows. Sadly, they don't use these cows for their menu. They source some quality beef from other places. Prices are market prices, and the service is great. I ordered the 16oz ribeye and asked it to be medium rare, closer to rare. The cut was very fresh and a very nice cut, but the cooking flame was uneven and possibly turned up too high. The steak was very motley, meaning, where some of it in the middle was medium, some places were rare, and some places were medium rare. It was a pretty tasty steak though, and it was served with beans and cole slaw. The beans needed more essence of bacon but very nice, and the cole slaw was fresh but need a bit more dressing. I also ordered the battered mushrooms. These were very crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside, and served with a side of ranch. I ran out of room to eat, otherwise I would have tried their soup. The soup of the day was prime rib and vegetable soup. Maybe next time. This place is definitely worth a try if you are around this area. If you have time, it is also a nice place to have a beer or three as well. read more
