Pulled pork tacos and Sweet potato fries!

Great Food and Great Service! , super cute inside! We left full and lots of yummy leftovers. Great place to stop for our road trip home!

Busy location in the middle of nowhere. Friendly service with good prices for what you get. Good beer selection, that was a bit of surprise. The decor is a "rustic Utah diner." They'll serve your steak on a hot stone if you like and you get to do the cooking. We opted to let them do the work. I ordered a ribeye and it was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. The baked tater and sautéed veggies were solid. They've earned their good reputation.

    Ribeye on a hot stone!

We were getting a bit hangry while traveling across Utah from one small town to the next, with our culinary options looking bleak. Just as hope began to fade, the Hideout popped up on my Yelp feed! After a double check to make sure I wasn't hallucinating - we quickly pulled into the parking lot. Despite seeming to be in the middle of nowhere, the parking lot was full and the restaurant was quite busy. Despite this, we were seated almost right away. Service was prompt and friendly. With most everything on the menu being made from scratch in the kitchen - the flavors were all amazing. The star of the show was the 16oz ribeye, served on a red-hot stone that you tend yourself, so you can cook it just the way you like it. That ribeye was one of the best I've had in recent memory. We also had the chicken fried steak, which was breaded by hand from freshly cut cube steak and made to order. The kids meals were generous in size and were wonderful as they were all quiet and enjoyed the meal! We also celebrated my son's first birthday and they brought out freshly made ice cream on a fresh, hot brownie that was really, really, really good! Thanks to Yelp for assisting with another awesome discovery. The Hideout Steak House really is hiding out in the middle of nowhere, but worth the stop if you are anywhere nearby. Five stars!

Nice staff and cute "rustic diner" vibes, but I was disappointed by the chicken fried steak I ordered. Moreover, the fries were soggy, the "steamed veggies" were from the freezer, and the mashed potatoes were nothing special. I did like the complimentary mini loaf of bread they served!

Oh. my. god!!!! The hideout steak house is amazing. The waitress was incredibly nice and helpful. The food is absolutely delicious. Steak was very well done (not pictured) and all the sides were delicious as well. I can't wait to come back! I think total was like $120 for 5 people. Bathrooms were clean, parking is very easy to find, tables were clean too.

Interesting steak spot seriously in the middle of no where. I came in during the dinner rush and sat at the door for a while because there's really no hostess but it says to wait. Someone acknowledged me after about 5 mins and i sat at the bar. Steak on a stone is the thing to get here which is a unique way of cooking it at your table. I had the filet which was a thicker cut and took a while to cook on the stone. The filet itself was good, moist in the inside and the stone which was really hot crisped the outside well too. The mashed potatoes and side veggies were good too. Cool spot esp. for a traveling person. Stop in if you are driving by.

Well this place and poor quality food and service ruined my birthday dinner and made me pay way too…read moremuch for it!!! I tried this place out with my partner for my birthday. The waitress/cook/bartender/ cashier/ incompetent staff member requested my ID to serve me a beer, which I gave her and failed to even notice it was my birthday! I had to tell her that it pretty much was a let down even coming there because I couldn't finish my beer, one beer! Reason being it was so ungodly hot in the building. The place was like walking into the pits of hell. The employee stated that the air conditioning or swamp cooler was broken. Fine things happen, however, that doesn't excuse why there were not any fans running in there or something to make it more comfortable to a slight degree. Conservatively, it was at least 95° inside. So we set out to have a good time for my birthday until we tried and we wanted to play darts well that dart board is such a piece of crap with all these little bits and pieces in an old cigar box that you can't even play a decent game of darts. So we ordered an appetizer we had planned on ordering the appetizer having a couple of beers playing some pool and dart and then taking our main course with us to go. From the beginning it was a wreck we told her three items we wanted on our appetizer sampler which was disgusting and you could tell it was frozen came in pre-made and she didn't even cook it all the way my jalapeno poppers were frozen in the middle still. And I specifically said I wanted poppers zucchini and shrimp. Lo and behold the service started being shitty then, I was bringing I was brought mozzarella sticks shrimp and poppers but like I said the poppers were still frozen. so we let her know what we wanted and the amount of time it took for her to bring out the zucchini or other food was already ready so there went having an appetizer and a few beers but it didn't matter with it being so hot I couldn't handle it. Being that I have MS (multiple sclerosis) the heat actually exasperates my symptoms and makes it miserable to even be in a hot environment. Then she brings out the meals and I had ordered onion rings my printer had ordered fries and we both got fries and when I let her know that that was also incorrect she said you know I put the stuff in the computer even though I knew you said onion rings and when I went back to make the food and I saw that they both said french fries I was shocked that it was fries so I just went ahead and made it the way that it said on the ticket. I'm sorry but as an employee I what the heat may have affected her thinking however she took the order she knew it was onion rings so there really isn't an excuse for such a senseless mistake. So then we want to get all of our food to go she doesn't bring us enough napkins doesn't bring us our ticket doesn't bring us a bag to put it all in then we have to wait for her to cook the onion rings meanwhile the rest of our food is getting soggy and cold because our plan was since it was so hot in there to go to the park and just eat our food there we were on a time limit because my partner had to be to work at 9:30 p.m. but I'm sure you can see where this is going as far as ruining my birthday mail and not even being able to enjoy it at the park like we had wanted since it was so hot in there and we couldn't enjoy the establishment. So even after all of these mistakes and what it took for her to get it right and all the extra time we left $5 on the table thinking that was an acceptable tip because there was so many errors in her service that it didn't lend itself to a better tip unfortunately I was a server for 20 years I get that you work off tips but you know you have to provide a service which she did not. Not only were two burgers and one appetizer two beers $71 but as I was looking at the receipt I noticed that an automatic gratuity of 20% was added to my bill without me having any input on whether or not I wanted to give a gratuity gratuity is optional I don't care that she makes two 13 an hour that's not my problem she chose the job she should do the job well and I think it's appalling that any place would even think to automatically add a tip for two people I can understand if it was a party of 10 or something to that effect but that is rude. So then I had to drive back and grab my $5 cash tip since I was already robbed for $10.71 of a tip a 20% tip that I never even wanted to give the food was awful the service was awful I couldn't enjoy my beer couldn't even drink my whole beer ruined my birthday and then I'm expected to give 20% which is for premium service from a server I don't think so. So I mean you might have a different experience there it might have been an off day for them but she should have offered some kind of compromise for the poor quality of service for the heat and for all of the mindless mistakes.

All of those things mixed together and twisted and pulled into a sweet singular strand of small town taffy. We bellied up to the bar later than we had hoped, in mid-afternoon. We met the current manager who explained the history of the spot, and while it's a little spotty, they've been around a long time in one form or another. She was related somehow to the original owner and it's passed through generations of families. There are strange gifts, new gifts, a lunch counter, booths, and a small menu board. We came in post-hike and got burgers because of course you get burgers. I can sum up the vibe of the food and the whole experience thusly: ME: "Wow, this tomato looks like it came from the garden." HER: "Ya, we get them from a guy who grows them for us. He's actually my old history teacher." Local, small, quirky, but very very delicious. Simple. I'm off shakes but by dining partner got one and it filled the cavity well. You have to stop in here when in Roosevelt. It's small town history teacher tomato good.
