Sat down and ordered drinks (after having to wait for a bit even though the place was empty). After paying, we started looking around the place and, well, noticed that the decor is pretty overtly racist (see pictures) with a noose and sign that literally says "no hablo fucktardo". Definitely won't be coming back here. If you're a POC, beware.

Mandy and crew treated us like family. The restaurant was clean and a fun atmosphere. A great place to eat after a full day on the lake.

The artichoke dip was yummy, however it could of had a little more spinach/artichoke vs cream cheese. The draft beers were very good. I believe we came upon shift change, so it took a few minutes longer than normal to receive our beer and the server switchover to be made. The service from our server was excellent, she was very kind and answered a lot of questions for us. Definitely worth exploring if you're into local brews :)

I had a clue of things when we arrived and the closed sign was still showing in the window but they were clearly open. At the host station, I asked the host if they wanted me to turn their sign around in the window; which they allowed me to do. When the experience starts with the server having to tell you what is NOT available from the beer menu, it isn't a good sign. If that's the case, then change the menu or don't have a printed one at all. Next, the server had to tell me what each beer type was because many had non-descriptive, cute names. A second line on the menu describing the beer's style, alcohol, and IBU would be great. I ordered the wheat beer. It was OK. The beer was trying to be a hefeweizen but was too heavy on the banana flavor which so many places in the USA seem to do to their hefe-clone beers. Not sure why. I got water after the beer. The fries were outstanding. Best thing on the table. I ate everyone's leftover fries from their plates. Most of the burgers on the menu here have some amount of stuff stacked on them. Which is great if you order that. But, if you order a plain ol' burger or cheeseburger, the patty is annoyingly small (see pics attached). The restaurant should make a larger diameter patty or something for plain burgers.

The appetizers were amazing, and I thought the rest of the meal had to be good. My daughter ordered grilled chicken alfredo. I ordered The Outlaw Burger, my son ordered the mushroom Swiss burger, and my wife ordered the chicken BLT. I'm deathly allergic to onions, as call in the emt's type of allergy. I told the waitress about my allergy, and she said no problem. She brings out my burger with a mound of sauteed onions. Had I taken a bite without looking, I would be in the hospital. All of the fries, for three of our meals, were soggy, and had no flavor. The two burgers were cooked so well done that they had to be gnawed on to eat them. My daughters Grilled chicken alfredo was in a bowl the size of a soup bowl, about half full, with 2-3 little pieces of grilled chicken. This for $23???? The entire order cost us $160 with a tip, and was not worth $40. The only exception was the appetizers, and they were way overpriced. Overall this is the worst meal I have had in the Green River, Rock Springs area, in 8 years. I will not recommend Hitching Post to anyone I know, and they will never have my business again. On a side note, the waitress was watching me do her tip, and kept checking over my shoulder, including taking a side detour, just to see what I had left her. She was nice, but have some class at least.

No free breakfast included (as of 12/2014). Despite that, it was still one of my favorite cheap motel stops on our cross country trip. Checking in at midnight consisted of me ringing the bell, no doubt waking up the hotel manager who let me in (and thank God she let me because it was -18 outside) and filling out a form and making payment. The one policy they have which may turn off some customers is they ask to make a copy of your credit card and drivers license for any guests who check in after midnight. The idea of a paper copy of your credit card may be enough to scare off some guests, but I trust my CC enough to know I won't be liable for any fake charges and whether places make a copy or just swipe it...either way, they can have it on file, so it really didn't matter to me. The room was inviting, small, cozy and very clean. It took us a while to figure out how to turn the heat on which was a serious problem because it was -18 outside. Aside from turning the thermostat up, you need to slide it on the "on position" which is a very small switch beneath the thermometer and then you need to also increase the temperature on the vent that's adjacent to the bathroom. They need to have a manual for this or something -- my wife was seriously sleeping in a sweater and vest until I figured it out about half an hour after she was already asleep, which resulted in her waking up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat. Check out was easy and the hotel manager recommended breakfast at the place next door. Would definitely stay here again if I found myself in the area.

We attempted to reserve an open site by going to the webpage shown at the camp ground. We found out that reservation must be made 2 days in advance so we tried to talk to campground manager "Kenny". Kenny said we couldn't use the site because it must me done online. We explained the online booking issue and showed him that the site was open until 07/12/17. Kenny then said that he wasn't familiar with the website (posted at the campground) that we were using and we couldn't stay at the unreserved site. He did find us one next to the bathroom, the site smelled like sewage. Another guest offered the use of a site that she reserved because she wasn't going to use it. She contacted Kenny and cleared this with him. After we set up 2 tents and unloaded our gear, Kenny showed up and told us that we would have to move because we couldn't stay at a site with an "R" designation. We explained to him that the site was already paid for and walked him over to the lady that let us use it. He then became upset and said that this wasn't allowed because it was stealing. That's when I became upset and the conversation became heated. I explained that I did not appreciate being called a thief and I didn't like the way he was hounding us. Kenny even threatened to call his manager, which I welcomed because Kenny was being intentionally obtuse and not listing to reason. Once he saw that we would not back down, he backed off and even took back his statement about us stealing. I would also like to note that the male restrooms had poop all over both toilets for the entire stay. Maybe Kenny should worry about the upkeep and not hassle guests so much.
