After having Frontier Fios service for the past 14 months, some things never change. Because the service and product quality was inferior, they refunded or credited me my first 3 months. For the last 2 months, OR MORE, Ive noticed a distinct degradation of product quality. Specifically, 1) lost signal, 2) inadequate bandwidth, and 3) poor to moderate signal strength from wireless. I was finally able to reach tech support to provide help. He sent me a new router. I made sure that he knew that I did not want one that was clanking around in the back of a 3rd party technicians truck. Four days later, it arrived. Something suggested, by the way it was packaged, that my new router was not new. After installing it, I noticed that my wireless signal strength was worse than the original! This is measured from 20 ft away. In fact, there were two other signals from neighbors that were much stronger. I stepped onto my back porch, 50 ft away, and could not get the signal on my phone. Ive now been waiting for tech support for over ONE HOUR by telephone. Frontier is woefully inadequate in providing customer support. I ask you, would you like to have this type of service? Do not choose Frontier for your internet provider. You will have a very poor experience! read more

Horrible service on day one! We just closed on our new home in Davenport. We had a pool setup with the builder. There is a pool control panel on the exterior wall of the house, see picture left box. The Frontier technician came yesterday and installed the exterior internet Frontier box outside our home in such a way that now my pool control panel box can not be opened. In the picture below the pool tech is attempting to open his box on the left, that he can not open due to the poor placement of the Frontier box on the right. What sort of person does this type of thing? Now we can not fix our pool settings, and so I called Frontier, and it took almost an hour of my time to try to get through and the answering service said they can not come out until Friday, in three days to fix the damage they caused. I was waiting to speak with this person's supervisor when they hung up on me. Now I can not get my pool set up due to this situation. I am going to write to the city to find out why in the world they would only allow this one horrible cable company to provide services here. This is really horrible service, on day one. read more

Called to upgrade my Internet speed. I inquired about one gig but was told that was not available in my area and all I could upgrade it was two gig. She quoted me $99.99 a month. I agreed, a tech showed up. He told me one gig was most certainly available in our area. I had been lied to. Not only that, they proceeded to charge me $109.99 a month. When I reached out to them they assured me they would correct my bill. Next month, bill is still $109.99 a month and they refuse to credit it or change it. Apparently it's only $99.99 when you sign up for auto pay, which I was not informed of. Even though they assured me they would correct my bill but they are now refusing to. They lie. I don't even want to give them one star. I switched from spectrum to frontier thinking I would get the same internet service I had when they first took over Verizon. I was completely wrong. Tech came to install, told me the router he had was new and needed to be installed in my laundry room (which is not inside my apartment). I told him I needed to have a wired connection because I work from home. He told me that I would have to get a long enough wire for someone to wire a cable through the wall. Within a few minutes he went to his truck and wired it himself. Now with the router being outside the apartment, I can not get a WiFi signal when in my bedroom. I decided to call them the next day to get this resolved. The first rep I spoke with told me I would need a WiFi extender and then transferred me to another rep who offered me cable tv (not why I called at all), I was then transferred to the Spanish department. After waiting on hold for 15 more minutes (thinking maybe someone in the Spanish department would help) I hung up and called back. 25 minutes later someone from the tech department went into my router (remotely)through my computer and did nothing. while she was just starting to adjust some settings the connection dropped. She transferred me to customer service to have a tech come out and told me I would have to pay for the tech. After another 10+ minute hold, customer service asked me to verify my info and they said the last 4 of my social was incorrect. After muting herself for 5+ minutes I was transferred to the retention department where the rep finally took ownership of the situation and told me she was going to fix my issue. Thankfully she did everything that needed to be done and hopefully after the tech comes out, they honor the commitment they promised over the phone (waive the tech fee) This was the worst customer service experience I've ever had. To top it off, after this well over 2 hour call, I had to get on the phone and work my customer service job. Needless to say, I made it a point not to put anyone what I went through. I'm so tired of seeing my mother cried. My mother who is 76 years old has been trying to send frontier their equipment back. All my mom gets is lies. She has spoken to more then one customer service representative. Each person gave her a different story. The place that my mom is relocating to, doesn't have frontier service. So she is being penalized for disconnecting her service. First of all my mom did not know she was in a contract. She was told she has to pay an extra $50 because she is ending the service early. Then she was told that she would receive a return box and now she is told that she doesn't need to return the equipment. Then she talk to someone else and was told her will receive the box after the disconnect date. She asked for QR code to bring the router to UPS and was denied. Now my mom is worried. Worst customer service. I tried to chat online, but got a message that it was not available at this time. So I called customer service and schedule a call back. The website said no wait time. I was happy when my phone rang almost immediately. However, that quickly turned to frustration when it was an automated call back. After answering several automated questions, I was put on hold and told there was a wait time of 20 minutes! After nearly 30 minutes on hold, my call was DROPPED! I had a question about the cost of having internet service only and cancelling cable in an effort to save money. I will definately be cancelling my cable service and will probably cancel my internet (although I have never had a problem with either service) because of this lack of customer service. read more

First I talk to a sales person he tells me about all the great services Frontier provides. Day of installation 1 of the great features was Frontier would assist in hooking up all wi-fi devices, I asked the installer to hook up the Roku in the spare room his reply was we don't do that. I called tech services ask about help with my wi-fi devices he said we don't do that. I begin to install it my self, pretty self explanatory there in no frontier app for roku, my sales person specifically told me that there was. I call and cancel my service, I am told the official date of cancellation will be determined when the phone number is "ported out". I receive a bill for $433.18 for 1 week of service. I call and make a formal dispute, I ask to speak to a supervisor they hang up. I call back go through everything again and am told I will receive a call from a supervisor, no call. This was February 2019. March 2019 call again, 1+ hour on the phone again, supervisor will call, no call. April 2019 call again, 1+ hour supervisor will call, no call. May 2019 call again 1+ hour I am issuing a $94.96 credit and a supervisor will call, no call. June 2019 I get a call from a collection agency, I then call again 1+ hour all credits have been denied. Why - no answer we can't do anything, you have to talk to collection agency and it will remain on your credit report. I have to give the 1 star? read more

So they sent me one the other day saying if I don't pay it , it goes to a collection agency. I do not want to hurt my credit. So I paid it and contacted a lawyer. These guys are crooks. I moved to Florida in 1971 and got my phone then, roughly 48 years ago. First it was GTE, later Verizon and, finally, Frontier. About ten years ago I added DSL internet when Verizon handled the process. Until recently I paid $89 for combined home phone and internet. Then my condo association made a sweet deal with Spectrum that included cable and internet for free, so I called Frontier to state I wanted to keep the landline phone and delete the internet. After 20 minutes on the phone the internet was scheduled to be deleted and I asked what my new phone bill would be (good thing I did). My new price? $110 per month. I told the service rep I wanted the internet deleted, not added. What's he tell me? That is just for the phone. Since I no longer bundled the price skyrocketed just for the phone. When I advised him I could get phone service through Walmart for $20 a month with all the bells and whistles he, more or less, said that was my option. Which is exactly what I did. I now pay $20 for my phone service for more features and my same 48 year old number. And did Frontier make a comment when I cancelled them after nearly 5 decades? Frontier did not show up to connect my internet when I moved. I spent over 40 minutes setting up the appointment three weeks before the move date. Over 30 minutes on the phone trying to find out what happened on the day of the move. The fastest they could get out to connect me was 10 days later. Went to the Spectrum Office got a much better price, picked up the modem and Wi-Fi unit and went home. 35 minutes after getting home ,I was on the internet. Never again Frontier. A young man showed up at my door, he was a frontier sales rep.he made me promise and sold me. The next few months were traumatizing. I work from home so internet is vital, I was prevision with spectrum, while the internet wasn't always great, they had great customer service and always took care of me. This young man from frontier, promised me so many things. Shortly after getting frontier service, 3 days after starting it, my internet stopped working properly. The young man did not do as he had promised, he did not help me, I had to call frontier and beg for help. The tech finally came out and told me that frontier was compromise, hacked, and no new equipment could be given out at this time, but that I had an old ont box outside, and that they would replace it once the issues with the main system was resolved, the hacking. No one ever replaced my old ont, however I was charged 150$ for them coming out. I spent hours on the phone to get this fixed. I asked the young man, who had advised me he would be my personal customer service two, to please have his supervisor contact me. Instead, the young rep berated me through texts, refused to connect me to the supervisor, and became highly defensive about my bad experience. I'm saving the texts. I will now have to cancel the service, and happily go back to spectrum, where they treat customers like humans, not just a transaction, a commission check. I am offended that this is OK. Customers aren't always right, but when the proof is in the pudding.... you can't deny what it is. To have this young rep invalidate my feelings, by telling me I have no right to feel mislead, left me in awe. And very offended. I never blame the young man, I only asked to speak to whomever was in charge. The young rep keeps calling me and texting me, and I finally had to ask him to stop. To wake up and see a 150$ increase to your bill, and be told you were charged bcuz a tech said they did something that they did not and to be them told if I do want the proper ont box outside, I'd need to pay for it, when it should be part of the service, because to have service, that ont box has to work... I'm baffled, but not surprised, as most of humanity is last in the selfish sauce. So please, if a young man or woman knocks on your door selling you promises of frontier being superior. Please consider, they are sales people there to sell you. And that might come with manipulation and half-truths. Luckily I was told I can cancel without a cancelation fee, but idk if I can even believe that. So I came to yelp. Figuring I can at least warn others. This was my first time buying home internet and it was terrible. I chose frontier because they claimed to have fast service at affordable rates. I got the 1000 mbps plan and the guy came and set up everything which included 3 eeros. That day service seemed to be ok with minor issues which what I thought was normal because they just set it up. For the next 2 weeks I experienced horrible internet service which included buffering, my games dropping and lagging, and the errors going red for hours when they are supposed to white and active. I called frontier so that they could fix it but they could not get someone out until the following week. So for 3 weeks I had no internet which left me with no ring camera and no home security cameras. I work a lot of the time which leaves my pregnant wife at home without the ability for me to visually check on her with the cameras or to see if anyone comes up to the door or anything. For 3 weeks I had no peace of mind knowing that my home was safe. In my opinion this was not the kind of service that I was expecting and I didn't think that they would be able to fix it because they just installed the service so I should have had the latest technology. I decided to cancel the service and go with spectrum. When I made this decision it was the most I was disappointed with frontier as now they were trying to charge 50$ an error to return them, a 95$ early termination fee, which I didn't even know I had a contract with them. Also, the monthly fee of 75$ for internet that I couldn't even use. These fees total over 300$ and with a baby on the way I cannot afford this and all of the doctors fees. With the baby coming and the hot that it brings, frontier just had to remind me that there are people in this world that will try and take advantage of you and frontier is one of them. read more

I never leave reviews but this company is the worst experience I've ever had with an internet company. First I had them come out on Wednesday to install my router and get my internet set up - everything went fine and it took about an hour to do. The internet connected and then about an hour after installation it would no longer connect to the internet. This is where all of my issues began. So I spent the next 1-2 hours on their help chat with 4 different representatives trying to figure out the issue. Finally after having to bounce from department to department they finally told me that my account wasn't activated. Then said it may take 24-72 hours for my account number to be generated and there wasn't anything I or they could do until my account was activated. Okay fine. When I expressed that I wish someone had informed me that it could be up to 3 days before I would get internet after having my router installed they told me that someone should have "educated" me about the process. (Keep in mind the person who told me this took about 30 minutes of asking their superiors why my account wasn't activated so they didn't even know themselves it would take that long). I then asked what I would have to do when my account became active. Did I need to reset my router? Contact support again? And the representative told me I didn't have to do anything at all and it would automatically become connected. I have a screenshot of this conversation of her telling me this as well. So I waited and finally my account became active close to 48 hours after the router was installed. Guess what? Yup it did NOT automatically connect to the internet. SHOCKER. So again I was one with representatives trying to get it connected for about an hour. Finally it got connected and lasted all of 4-5 hours before it went down again. So got back online with a representative for them to tell me there wasn't anything else they can do besides send a technician out to try and fix it in person. Well I work and not from home which means they couldn't come until much later in the week as I was not taking off work for this crap. So at that point I switched to Spectrum and will have internet by tomorrow. I am so sick and frustrated right now I will NEVER use Frontier again. read more

This is a complete non-starter for me. I scheduled to have Frontier installed in my newly rented home. I scheduled a week or longer in advance and when the day came, I arranged my plans to available for the technician who never showed. Finally in the last 30 minutes of my window for service, I called the office and they said the technician couldn't access my order and rescheduled for Monday. Monday, the same happened so I called AGAIN and explained my situation. I was met with a song and dance about the previous tenant and told there was nothing they could do for me after wasting 8 hours of my time. I went with Spectrum. I finally got a human, although it's from another country, and she said she could help me and set another appointment and they will come today between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and of course I had to change all my plans for that, and of course they never showed. I talked to three customer service people yesterday and gave them all my phone number and address and when I went to call customer service today, once again the automated service didn't recognize my phone number or address. I was going to switch from Spectrum to Frontier and when I notified Spectrum they said they would give me a big discount not to do that and I am going to take them up on that. I'm a local well known school teacher and I'm going to use my absolute influence to let every teacher and parent I know to never get Frontier and how unprofessional they are. I hate everything & everyone associated with this company. They over charge you for service & then attempts to avoid taking ownership for any of their "billing errors". They'll shuffle you from one dept to the next wasting hours of your life. They'll make the process as difficult as possible (right up to the disconnection) in hopes that you'll give up or your phone would go dead, then you'll pay their egregious charges. I've had frontier internet for 4 years. Always paid my bill early never missed a payment. Dealt with them raising prices every year on me, and I had to cancel because my apartment makes me pay for rent through someone else and not only are they almost impossible to get ahold of, you can only cancel by talking to a customer service rep and their hours are mon-fri 8-5. I'm at work within those hours. But not only that I have to pay my full bill not prorated and and 50 dollar restocking fee. What the f*** is that? Absolutely ridiculous. I wish there was a rating of Zero or lower. Took me 4 hours on the phone to simply establish new service at a home I purchased ( Note : There is no special circumstance, and I am already a customer at another one of my properties ), they simply could not figure out how to maneuver the work order. While I admit that I should have simply hung up and called Spectrum, a customer service supervisor got onto the call and advised that he felt like the service was as ridiculous as I did and he told me that he was placing a $150 credit onto my account. Today, I called Frontier ( another 45 minutes on the phone ) simply to say that I had not received any communication from them since setting up the service for April 26th 2024. The totally disinterested customer service rep said oh yeah, I see where you are set up for electronic communications but we can't do that until we send you a paper copy, I will do that now. When I asked about the credit , he said " there is not credit on your account". My advice, GO TO ANY OTHER PROVIDER, Frontier outsources their call center to China. All services down and the issue is either at the ONT or further out (Frontier's end). We were told the service tech will be here in 8 days. I explained the important reasons of having a land line telephone especially with the lack of cell service in my area like calling 911. Because i've reached through to them about this we're on a unicorn list to recieve a call if any tech becomes available before then (roll eyes). This is unacceptable. I understand the situation with the weather and outages, but Frontier is a giant telecom. This is so typical.
