Awesome local outfitter. From sleeping bags and snow shoes to vacuum sealers, meat grinders, small gun safes-- this place has it all. Nice selection of apparel and fishing necessities as well. Pleasantly surprised at their variety of Xtratuf boots for women, and very pleased with their customer service, contrary to many other reviews. 10% military discount with ID.

Local place to shop for outdoor products. The store is well organized and has some of the same stuff as it's chain competitors (REI, Sportsman's Warehouse) and also carries a nice selection of clothing in their "Wooly Rhino" side of the store. (You still pay at the same register) Great selection of handguns and rifles. Prices are visible and there were quite a few on sale. Gun and knife counters were staffed with friendly, approachable folks. I was asked a few times if I needed help or if I wanted to see something, but not in an annoying way, and they didn't do that weird thing where they stare at you while you look at the guns. Knife selection is pretty good, too! They do sell Benchmade knives, even, but it's not a huge selection of them. They also have lots of gun accessories. I noticed a small archery area, too. The fishing area had mostly spinning rod/reel combos, and some rods without reel. They had a separate display case with reels. There were lots of organized lures and lines and even some custom "Alaska" lure setups pre-packaged. There's a great selection. I'm sure there is fly fishing stuff, but it wasn't on my radar so I didn't take note. They sell Muck Boots and hiking/hunting boots as well. There are tents, sleeping bags, Dutch ovens, game calls, traps, coolers, (Yeti, Igloo, etc) and you can get your hunting and fishing license here as well. They also had a lot of readily available "Alaska Department of Fish and Game 2019/2020 Hunting Regulation Guides" for you to reference and take home with you after you load up on gear. All in all, a worthy stop for your outdoor adventures, and a local business at that!

My husband bought a new hunting rifle and scope here. The salespeople were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. The helped him pick out the perfect rifle and scope. He ended up settling on a Ruger Hawkeye and Leopold scope. I'm sure we will be back again soon because he loves this place.

Awesome place to get all your gear. Surprising amount of hardware and tools downstairs.

I drove up from Alaska and my ebike was due for a tune-up as well as some misc bolts and screws…read moreneeding to be tightened up. Took my bike right in and was ready the next day. Price comparable to lower 48. A couple weeks later during my visit I had issues with my seat post and also lost a screw attaching my rear fender - the AlCan Hwy takes a toll. They Took the bike without calling ahead (I planned on dropping it off) and they had everything ready within a 30 minute wait (had to get a new seat post as the issue couldn't be fixed). Really super helpful and knowledgeable crew of young men.

I needed new shoes and the ones I had currently went through 6 marathons / ultras and 8 half…read moremarathons since buying them in Montana in September 2017. Time for a change and the answer was Goldstream Sports here in Fairbanks. I wanted to have my feet evaluated, since my feet and running everywhere. Been there, done that - sort of thing. For me, it is always nice to get into a nice pair of training shoes, especially when the current pair is almost on its last legs and you know that it's been with you on your travels to run marathons and ultra distance events. I was suggested to come to this place, since I was in the market for new shoes. I needed expert advice on finding that new pair of shoes, as over the years of running, my feet tended to get wicked and just plain weird after so many miles and smiles across the country and even overseas. I found that Goldstream Sports had that person to help me with that specific task and she did it well. I arrived here on a Thursday afternoon, after a day of driving and shopping, I figured why not do this before heading back to my friend's home for dinner. The beauty of this experience is that I got to get tested on their customized treadmill, so they know exactly how I walk and run. It's nice to get evaluated for real and not just get any ol shoe to meet your budget. Being a runner for life needs specific criteria and having a great fitting shoe to train and race in is an important thing! I'm grateful that my friend had suggested this store to me and thankful for the service that I received in this store. Runners want comfort on their training runs and that elusive PR. Having comfortable shoes to do all the miles is one less thing to worry about! Happiness is all about running long and feel great about it. Having functional shoes that feel good and wears well is a good thing. Goldstream Sports can help you solve your running shoe needs, although you will need to come to Fairbanks, Alaska for a proper evaluation. The overall experience here at Goldstream Sports is as good as it can get. I shared my concerns to the expert shoe lady and the feedback helped me get into a specific shoe that was recommended by the treadmill gait analysis. They accept major credit cards, so that's always a good thing. They also sell running accessories and running fuel, as well as sell other gear for other active lifestyles. They also sell tri bikes and regular mountain bikes too, but I was here for the running shoes. The store itself sat in a residential area, somewhat out of the way from the city of Fairbanks, but it was good to come here to get things done. The parking situation here is very generous, plenty of parking for everyone who wants to start a running journey or to buy new trainers, since their old ones are getting old. Or for anyone who wants to get into the cycling / triathlon life, so come here too. Not sure if public transportation comes through the area, but best bet is to come here and see if you want to entertain running as your sport of choice. Uber/Lyft are great choices too. I was here for about 45 minutes in total, trying on a few pairs after getting evaluated. I settled on a pair, which was nice and kind of lightweight. The store itself was large enough that it stored a lot of merchandise, but intimate enough to get good service for what you need. The service itself was good. Alaska has no sales tax too, so it was nice not to pay extra for that, although I'm sure the prices are inflated anyway to make up for such taxes to the state government, among other things. The prices here can be expensive, but I think of it like an investment in my health and well being. After countless pairs of shoes bought over the course of 10 years and many many marathons events, it's always comes down to comfort and the proper fitting of the shoe to your feet. While it may be just another running store, consider it an investment that will help you take care of your health. It's always good to come here and check things out for yourself. Never know if you have that desire and passion to take that next step to dive into an exercise program or run your first half marathon or marathon. Sky's the limit! Never know what you can do when you try. If you are in the area and want running shoes - or even check out their bikes, come on by! I'm sure they would love to see you. I'm happy with my purchase and hope you will too. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the prices, especially without AK sales tax of any kind. 5.0 stars for the expert service and shoe recommendations. The store itself is clean and very spacious. Not sure if they have WiFi or not, but check em out! Support local! A-
