I'm not usually one to write a bad review because I choose to look at the good in things usually but the public needs to be informed. This credit union and its upper management team are dishonest, unprofessional, rude, and will not stay true to their word. This started off when I received a Pre-Approval offer by one of their employees of the branch, upon calling and getting details I was told to proceed in buying the vehicle, I put a hefty down payment and scheduled to pick up the car. When going into the branch to pick up the check to go finalize the purchase I was told that "There seems to be a problem, we can't find your pre approval." This was at 9 am, I was told I would be contacted because I might have to sit and wait for an hour; I obliged and went home. Waiting and waiting, no call back; so I try to call, no answer. I decide to drive down to the credit union, there I sit and wait because after 4 hours no one decided it was important enough or were too busy to help me, even with multiple people behind the counter. As I wait I hear an employee use profanity on multiple accounts when describing her past weekend. When I am finally helped I'm told, "we can't find it in the system." They look some more and then tell me that that pre approval was from last year and they can't honor the email, the 2 phone calls, and text messages telling me about this offer! The VP of the credit union Debbie was there and spoke with the extremely nonchalant branch Manager if you may call her that Claudia and the VP which was extremely nice offered that since they acknowledge it was their mistake they would honor the pre approval and terms offered to me, I just had to bring my proof of income in. I got my proof of income and came back, when given the proof of income I was told they would call me that night, no call back. I call back the next day and Claudia is off, this morning after 3 days I call, and am told they can not offer this to me and stay true to their word even when I provided them everything they needed. This "Credit Union" that says they strive for customer satisfaction really does the opposite. I had referred many people to them before but I can no longer refer someone to a "business" that is so unprofessional and that lies to their customers. I never once asked for anything more than what was offered to me. And have yet to even get an apology. If Honor and Integrity are important to you, do NOT visit Pacific Marine Credit Union. read more

Honeslty this is the worst bank I've ever been with. Three times I have had my card cancelled because they had a security breech. They always say that they mail out notices but I've never got one. The way I find out is by gettig my card declined at the worst possible moment. My advice to you, never ever bank with PMCU.... EVER! read more

The worst bank I have ever had. They are predatory and charge fees for everything. Not a good choice for anybody who lives paycheck to paycheck. If you make a mistake and overdraw your account they will hammer you with fees. The last thing you need at that point! I'm talking $30.00 per transaction! Which for me was over $200. There is a reason why most service members prefer Navy Fed or USAA. I've been with Pacific Marine since 2011 and have always had such a headache while dealing with them. I only stayed with them because I had my military pay set up through them but since I have gotten out, I am weeding all of my accounts off of them. I applied for an auto loan on the Navy Fed website and got an instant approval. Frontwave gave me a screen that said someone will contact me within a day. It took me four calls to finally get an answer but even then, their requirements are ridiculous. I wish MCRD San Diego would strictly promote Navy Fed. Frontwave... You are garbage! read more

Not happy with this bank they have low loan rates and no fees for checking account however it's almost not.worth it. There customer service is horrible they charge you literally for everything and anything they can can I mean ANYTHING I had my identity stolen and it took forever before they got me a card and charged me for it and access to my account I needed to put gas in my car for work for god sake. Everytime I need information regarding something I get a different person with a different answer it's very annoying all their software is out of date and I noticed they said something about their online banking being updated since 2005 that's a lie you can't see pending Transactions via online banking looking into switching my car loan checking and savings over to navy fed. read more

I have been with this bank for over five years. Both while stationed near a branch and while overseas attempting to use their online and telephone member services I have experienced nothing but trouble and frustration. She was very professional and never condescending. Her patience helped to put us at ease. We have been loyal customers here at PMCU since you're opening and although the mistake was ours, Jennifer still put in the request to have the fee waived. No customer service 24hours a day account frozen on a Sunday have to wait until Monday when I work all day to figure it out. My navy fed buddies can call and talk to a representative all day long and I can't wait for that service when I switch to a more advance bank with a way better understanding of a active duty military members needs. read more

PMCU has been a great and hassle free alternative to corporate banking. I've been with them for almost 4 years and highly recommend their service. I'm posting this positive review to bring recognition to the exceptionally helpful efforts from a teller at this branch named Myranda. Upon a routine deposit visit, Myranda brought to my attention that an a cashiers check I made out almost two years prior had never been redeemed and still had not been re-credited to my account. This was the first time I had any teller from any branch in North County, make this information known to me. She went above and beyond typical customer service (which is always helpful at PMCU anyway) to explain, walk me through and ultimately deliver the assistance that got me these funds back into my account. I am very grateful to Myranda for taking the extra measures of detail that made a routine bank experience turn out to be such a wonderfully unexpected and impactful outcome. read more

I've been banking here for 15 years now. Every time I try and refinance or get a loan I always get turned down. I've tried numerous times over the past 15 years and they always turn me down. I have a great credit score, never been late on a payment. I also always pay off my loans faster than I ask for. My cc debt is less than 10% and we always have plenty of money left over after our bills are paid. Not to mention I've had my account info stolen 3 times now. I always end up going through another bank to get a loan and I always get approved through other bank. Same apr if not lower than what pmcu is offering. I'm at the point where I'm looking to switch banks. But I just ordered new checks. What's the point of calling yourself a bank if you don't loan out money? This bank has gone down hill since I first started banking here. read more

Well after reading a review or two I decided to jump in. I am in my seventies, and never found anything to complain about with PMCU. I live in Yucca Valley, CA. I have two CD's , and a car loan with them. Been banking with PMCU for quit a few years, and do not see any reason to think I will ever change. I like the staff, and service , the telephone called in questions about out of town ATM fee free ATM machine questions. I have the great feeling of helping our community both military , and civil. The continually charged my account overdraft charges that were not due and I had to continually go into branch to have them adjust them. They had my address wrong 19 times that I had yo go to bank and have corrected continually. They cancelled my bank card twice due to the Equifax hack but never mentioned it to me. Went to buy a car and couldn't because they had cancelled my card. This credit union has gone done the tubes. read more

I love this bank! Michael Ortiz in the loans department was nothing short of AMAZING in how he handled a car loan for my nephew. My nephew had some employment issues and had a repossession on his credit report, but since my family and I have been customers at Frontwave for years and had accounts in good standing, Michael helped us to get my nephew a car loan. This will help my nephew to repair his credit and he also has a nice new car to get him to his fabulous new job at Costco - hooray! Michael is always really responsive and quick to get back to me. He's super nice and professional. I always have a good experience at the Frontwave locations on Rancho del Oro and on Vista Way (near BevMo/Trader Joe's) and opened a new little savings account with them, just because they rock and I wanted to support them. I've been a member with PMCU for 15 years since my husband opened his account in boot camp. They have always maintained phenomenal loan rates - I've had several auto loans with them. They are advocates for their members and the branch staff always remembers who I am - talk about a small town feel! You're really missing out if you don't already have a membership with them! read more

Pacific Marine approved me for a car refinance at 1.49% after Penfed turned me down. We did everything online and signed the papers through docusign. They also approved me for a Visa and I have a bad thing from 2010. If you apply for anything you need to keep on top of it, they will only call once or twice. read more

By far the worst bank experience I have had in my 20+ years. Terrible customer service, didnt help me at all when I was experiencing problems due to the economy, housing market crash, and unplanned/unforseen medical bills. Never returned my calls or request for information. Charged me erroneously over $900 in late fees, had to file complaint with BBB, Attorney General, and Credit Union Administration to get tradeline deleted off my credit bureau so I could close escrow on my new home 10 years after this issue with PMCU. Manager T#@! is rude, unprofessional, irresponsible, wanna be banker turned collections slime bag and impossible to deal with- and never called me back or emailed me the acct info he promised. Still waiting for him to provide me a written response to why late charges ranged from $40 to $160 month to month. Had the nerve to lie to me about how late charges were posted and then says " I didnt work here at that time so its not my problem" Really?! Stay away from this credit union, they are unethical, they have high turnover, employees never stay long, and they treat members going through financial hardships due to medical bills like crap!!! I really like this place. I have been there for over 4 years. The people are nice but what I really like is the rates. I just got a 2.5% auto loan!! Thats amazing. All my accounts are free too. Like another reviewer mentioned, I also got my card blocked from a secruity breach but it was not because of the credit union. The employees in the branch said the problem happened with a credit card processor and affected millions of cards, at many banks. Your review for Pacific Marine To whom this may concern My husband recently went to pacific marine to inquire about his transactions because things were not adding up what the banker was telling him how much he had in his account . .He then proceeded to ask the banker his balance and she told him exactly how much he had . Then the banker began to tell him his transactions. I his wife had recently payed bills with his credit card because he asked me to . She then tells him she has to freeze the account because I his wife has used it ??as if I am some friend or as if he told her some stranger has payed these bills on his account and he was unaware of this . I know that it's their job to secure our accounts because of security purposes but if I am his wife and he gave me permission to use his card because we have bills and I usually handle the finances . I do not understand ? I am very fusterated and cannot believe that I can not even pay bills with my husbands credit card Because pacific marine decided to Freeze that account ? This bank is absolutely ridiculous. They have "lost" my account information on numerous occasions. I am pretty sure the reason I had my identity stolen is due to their loose security. Even though I was deployed at the time i had my identity and money stolen while I was deployed, they tried to refuse to pay me back. For the last 20 years,I've used credit unions and have loved what they have to offer, not so with PMFCU, this is possibly the one and only that will give a bad name to all the credit unions. I arrived to the bank to open an account and despite the fact that some employees were siting in their office without customers, they did not acknowledge my presence until after about 10 minutes. Regardless I decided to give them a try because I wanted a new account to have direct deposits from my new job go to it. When my first chech was deposited, I found out that for the first 6-12 months of having the account my check would be on hold for 9 days every single time! I tried to set up online banking the day after I opened the account and the system would not allow me because I had to return to the bank to get a password that the manager had to approve (the woman who helped me open the account could've inform me of that, instead of me having to find out on my own and having to make another trip to the branch). Sounds like these people are in the Middle Ages and have not gotten up to speed with technology; when I addressed my concern with the teller, her explanation is that this is a small credit union and that they don't have the same means than other credit unions do. I will be closing my account ASAP since these people are way behind and unable to compete with the service that other credit unions in the area are better equiped to provide. read more
