My desire to have a houseful of shabby chic stuff is well documented. I was married for 14 years to someone who...well, his taste runs more to office depot. I made the journey today to check out these cute little Peruvian mirrors they get in from time to time. I'd ideally like 5 silver ones. They only had three I wanted and one wasnt totally silver...so I didnt buy today. But I will keep monitoring and likely go in again. Theyre freaking adorable. There was no one around at noon on Sunday so I could drool in peace. They had a number of cool old pieces. All the drawers opened easily ( unlike my current cool old pieces). I could have happily loaded up my car if I only had a place for them and a wad of cash. Not only do they have cool old stuff but they will paint/refinish/distress your cool old stuff too. Sweet. And they have sales from time to time on facebook. There was street parking right on 6th in front of their door. Easy peasy. They do have two steps up into their space if accessibility is an issue, fyi. Still pondering the bright green bar cart....it was cuuute. P.S. if you go check the hours on facebook. Theyre not the same ones listed on yelp. The store opened at noon today, not 9.

I really enjoyed the unique and varied pieces in this store. Not your average antique store for…read moresure.

Also, there's things like glues and glue sticks for scrapbooking and paper projects. :) Plus, there are things like the Jumbo Magnifiers (which are in red and blue); they sure come in handy when you need a backup magnifying glass for a Halloween costume such as a spy or a detective. And there are things which make great gifts for a birthday or Christmas, such as the Gold Metal Adjustable Phone Stand. :) Then, there's neat things like a Talking Mother Goose Plush with glasses, who recites four different nursery rhymes in a calm, soothing voice when you press her wing. :) Finally, I highly recommend Hobby Lobby to anyone who likes arts and crafts, looking for inspiration (or sometimes both), and I give it five stars as well (although ten stars would be even better). :)

This location is pretty new. The people are nice and helpful here and it has that smaller town feel. I have a friend that says it is overwhelming because there is so much but I don't feel that way at all! I could spend hours here. Now they have Craft items but they also have lots and lots of decor items... and they include several pieces of a theme so that you have the pillows, wall art, rugs and other items that pull a room together. I like it! Less thinking and more production. :)

They had more items in stock than I have seen at other Rosses so that was encouraging and variety is what keeps it fun. I found several items at great prices for the win! The dressing room attendant was probably the nicest person I've ever encountered at any retail store. The dressing rooms were also surprised, they're pretty clean and the doors go all the way down to the floor and are about 7 feet tall so that's the most privacy of ever experiencing my entire life trying on anything. It was very secure and comfortable. There was no line to check out as plenty of cashiers were on duty.

Usually I find lots of clothing but I struck out at this store. Bought just one item, a super fancy black cocktail dress with a silver brocade empire chest. I have absolutely no place to wear this, but....it was $6.49! Yep, for less than a glass of wine, I purchased a cocktail dress! Since this coming New Year's will welcome 2020, I'm hoping someone, maybe me, will throw a fancy party. If so, I'll be there in style! Love how Ross is open until 11:00pm. Seems crazy to me but I'm often bored at night so this gives me a purpose, to go on a bargain hunt. Oddly, seems like others are on my schedule. Staff in fitting room, at jewelry counter, and check out were all friendly and helpful. Won't seek this particular Ross out as a destination as I do some of the other Ross locations, but since I was kind of in the area tonight (West Linn) I took the "scenic" route home so I could try my look at bargain shopping. Based on my $6.49 fancy cocktail dress, I'd say it was a success!

The staff, all two of them, spent the whole time behind the counter talking to a friend of theirs. We came in, two of us, late morning, live customers. Hey, people! We're not invisible, are we? No, we are not! You can see me! Yes, you can! Watch this, I'm going to walk in every room of your building -- all 10 or so of them. I'm even going to touch things! Yes, that's right, I'm going to walk past the counter twice! But no, I'm just not good enough ... you just can't say hello, can you? Am I too young? Am i wearing the wrong clothing? Dear reader, I assure you, I looked pretty good that morning ... as did my pal. And we're not college kids, we own a home, we spend our money. We don't look poor. I really don't know what their problem is, but whatever it is, they have a new problem: I have a big mouth, and I'm going to let people know about what kind of rude place this is. We even made a loud comment as we were leaving, but they were still too cool to say anything. What the frick is wrong with these people? On the plus side: there's a lot of stuff in here, and some of it's priced quite fairly, and as many reviews attest you can apparently talk them down even more. Just ignore the sticker price, tell them what you want to pay. You're the boss. The prices on the tags are merely suggestions. You can make deals here, that's the name of the game. But alas I wouldn't know, BECAUSE THE PEOPLE IN THE SHOP WOULDN'T EVEN SAY HI TO ME!

When we met, Vanessa listened carefully, asked questions, and identified a gorgeous blue-green for the body of the house, and a rich creamy white for our trim. We retrieved samples of the paint from the store, put it up on a few different places on the house and garage, and SURPRISE... the blue-green color came out a lot brighter than it appeared on the flat paper sample. We sent Vanessa an email and asked for her recommendation. Vanessa wrote right back and provided three new options, one of which was the absolutely PERFECT shade of the seemingly ever-elusive teal we had been dreaming about. We are thrilled with the outcome -- our house is stunning from every angle and a true jewel of the neighborhood! Without Vanessa's expert assistance, we could have purchased 100 paint samples and still not have found the right shade.

She took our original scheme (which I put together using the Farrow & Ball website's 'these go together' suggestions) as inspiration, keeping our selected main color (F&B Brinjal), and replacing the ho-hum F&B trim colors with amazing, earthy, sophisticated ones. Then! She shocked and delighted us by proposing GOLD for our rafter tails and bits of trim. She spent a ton of time with us during the consultation, figuring out which color should go where on all the complicated joins at the back of the house. We splashed out for renderings, which was absolutely worth the extra cost--they built our confidence about making such a huge change. (Our fabulous painters -- Jeff and Alex of G&F Painting-- also appreciated the renderings and how prepared we were, btw.) The weekend before painting began, with all the final samples on the side of the house, I noticed that in the morning sun, something was off with our choices. Vanessa kindly made time for a weekend emergency visit and helped us figure out that the main sample was mixed (very) wrong, but the color selections were right. Whew! The end result is beautiful. We get tons of compliments from neighbors and passing dog walkers, and best of all... where before the white box loomed like a lonely cloud, now our home feels so much more cozy and "settled" into the landscape and neighborhood. Don't hesitate to call Vanessa - she made this daunting project fun! Worth every penny.
