Not only do the students plan the menu, but they practice describing the dishes before they're served. My favorite was the Babaganoush and the lamb shank! These students are very talented and I like to support Cerritos College since I myself am an Alumnus.

It probably should have its own listing but as other reviews for it seem to be here already (and because I'm too lazy to create a new listing) I'm leaving my review here. The restaurant is small, perhaps a dozen tables, and is difficult to find. It is hidden down a hall and around the corner from the student cafe. It's behind what looks like just another classroom door. They have designated parking right near the restaurant and provide a parking pass to put on your dashboard so you don't have to pay for student parking. Chefs and servers are students supervised by instructors. The menu changes periodically and they also have special theme meals from time to time which you can be informed of by providing your email. Although I'm not certain, I think it was my server's first time ever attending to someone. She was a little unsure of herself but very sweet and went back to the kitchen to get answers to questions when she didn't know. I gave her my order and sat back to see what would come out to the table. I was first given a complimentary bruschetta with eggplant which was an excellent little appetizer. I then had some potato leek soup which was thick and delicious; a perfect starter on a cold day. Next came my main meal - a bento box with pork katsu. As one would expect, as this meal was prepared by students, there were hits and misses. The pork was cooked well but the coating wasn't quite what I've come to expect (too oily, no crunch - I don't think they used Panko - and over salted). The tempura vegetables were superb. The salad had a bit much dressing on it but I personally like it that way. Dessert was an incredible rich chocolate cake with raspberry filling. The cake itself was worth the price I paid for the entire meal. Prices are insanely cheap and portions are plentiful. The perfection of the food on your plate will vary depending on what students are cooking that day. If you are a risk taker and want to have some fun, this is a great little student restaurant to enjoy some tasty food and give future chefs some experience.

Review for Joseph the Baker…read more I had the pleasure of taking a cake decorating class with Joseph the Baker, and I just have to say... WOW. From the moment I arrived, he was incredibly professional and made me feel completely comfortable and safe. As a woman, that really matters to me--especially in a more private, one-on-one setting--and he carried himself with so much respect the entire time. What I loved most is that he didn't just let me "wing it" (because let's be honest... that's me lol). He held me accountable and guided me step by step to create a cake I was actually proud of. You can tell he truly cares about his students learning and improving. And let's talk about the frosting... because this part shocked me! My kids and I are NOT frosting people at all--but his frosting? GAME CHANGER. It was so good, we literally finished the whole cake! Overall, such an amazing experience. Professional, patient, talented, and genuinely passionate about what he does. I highly recommend Joseph to anyone wanting to learn cake decorating or just have a fun, memorable experience. -- Mari
