Awesome burgers in Merced. Customer service is excellent. Would go here more so than H&W.

I always order from here and this is the first time this happened. I ordered a star burger and found this Sierra Nevada beer label in it. I was on my lunch break and obviously it was not me. I called them to let them know and they blew me off and said they don't sell beer and there's no way it could've been in there. I'm not old enough to buy beer so this ridiculous. When this place first opened my husband and I would come here once or twice a week because the food was amazing and made to order. That quickly changed for us and we completely stopped going when my husband went to get his fountain drink and seen something odd come out the soda fountain he looked in his cup and found a ROACH floating in his drink. At first I thought... Oh, great! Merced finally has a good burger place! Everything else here is fairly pedestrian. No real standouts. Then my wife and I ate here, just to check it out. Started out good. Burgers and fries tasted good, the fried okra was good, the onion rings were decent. Then, I spent the rest of the weekend suffering with food poisoning. I was sick as a dog from Friday night all the way through Sunday, and I almost had to be brought to the hospital. I'm absolutely certain it was from the food I got here. Craving a burger 10AM, In n Out was still closed, H&W was still closed, got on yelp && what do you know this new place came up. Called in an order over phone, worker answered the phone like it was a personal cell but he was very polite. I was very impressed with the food, the crinkle fries were perfectly seasoned, the burger was gorgeous, all veggies looked so fresh, green lettuce, perfectly cut red onion, juicy pickles. The bacon was nice && crispy. The patty was a little thin but it was still pretty good size burger. Overall would recommend this for anyone who wants a big fresh juicy burger read more

This place serves mostly hamburgers in it's menu. They also have chicken, pastrami, Philly cheese steak, ice creams, root beer floats. I did see a value menu of sorts and various side dishes comparable to H&W drive in, but a little bit less clutter on the menu with this place more concentrated. The burger I ordered was good always great to taste a burger off the grill. I will be back to taste the floats and pastrami sandwich. This place is on Yosemite parkway just before rancho San Miguel. Hopefully this place last, I've been living in the area for about 4 years and seen 5-6 restaurants in the same spot come and go. read more

The burger patties were really thin. I wanted to be excited over them, but truly they were average. The buns were buttered and toasted which is nice. Fresh red onions, and leaf lettuce was nice. Possibly the more substantial burgers are better. I'd be willing to return to try. read more

Fantastic experience! Stopped by on our way back from Yosemite and we were impressed. The three sides we got were awesome (onion rings, fried okra, and crinkle fries)! The fried okra converted my picky preteen into an okra lover. (Holy cow, he asked for more, you guys are saints!!!) The burger and BLT on point. My husband said the pastrami sandwich was the best he's had in years. We all agree we are glad we don't live closer because we'd be 500 pounds. The one negative is that the location is a bit sketchy, but they keep their outside tables and restrooms clean. Staff patient and kind, with a big smile on their faces. This was truly a great experience. The staff was phenomenal including the cashier who was above and beyond for all the customers in line. The burgers. Fries. And even the chicken nuggets were truly amazing. The nuggets my daughter got were crunchy but light. Really great flavor. The burgers had a "hole in the wall" size to them(huge) and can be ranked up there with one of the best burgers I've tried globally. We really liked it! Dad got the $5 box -cheeseburger, medium fries & a soda, he said it was really good. Mom got the mushroom swiss burger, she was excited that the mushrooms were actually REAL mushrooms. I got the Western Burger, the bacon was crunchy, not soft and raw, the burger was delicious and I was glad my fries were crispy outside and soft inside. I would DEFINITELY recommend it! read more

We just had dinner at Five Stars. We ordered the triple burger combo, mushroom Swiss burger, fried zucchini and 5 piece nuggets for our toddler. It was very hot and fresh, not over priced and the employees were very friendly. The dining area was also very clean, including the high chair, which I definitely appreciate. Tried this place last month. Have been back 6 times now. Merced has a little success business story. Great to see a small business thriving. Follow up Jan 2019, 5 months later. Still great food and friendly staff. Have become a 2-3 times a week regular. Enough menu variety to keep coming more often. Stopped going to over crowded N-N-O place that pushes lettuce. Not sure how long this spot has been here but I wish I would have discovered it sooner. The burgers were amazing, chili cheese fries were delicious and we even got a blended iced coffee that was really good! I got the knock out burger and I can describe is as an even better version of the guacamole bacon burger from Carl's Jr. The bacon on this burger was REALLY good some of the best bacon I've gotten on a burger actually.
