We placed an online order. Both sandwiches barely had meat, too much mayo and the bread was not fresh. Will not be going back.

Ordered two sandwiches, one was vegetarian and they did not ask if I wanted the slicer to be wiped before they sliced the cheese I selected. No big deal, moving through the process I felt very rushed when the entire restaurant was empty including the seating outside. The soda fountain also had strange taste after selecting two different beverages. This is my third or fourth time to this location after Dave sold to a new owner and I will not be returning because of the service and how rushed I felt during each visit. read more

That could be the owners police....and that's ok, but if you have an employee SNIFFLING they should either not be at work or wear a mask when asked. Location is clean inside but staff didn't seem to be very friendly as I don't think they said one word. I let them know I had a mobile order, was given my order and not one word was spoken between either of them but whatever, we all have bad days. The sandwich tasted ok. The bread and lettuce was fresh but I had ordered a hot sub to which was still code and didn't even seem to be toasted. The meat was very thin to the point you couldn't even taste it and I didn't have a lot of veggies added to drown out the taste so I should have definitely been able to taste it. The brownie was fresh and tasty. Last time I ordered, my meal was delicious which is why I picked Port of subs over any other sub sandwich place we have in Merced but it left much to be desired. I'm not sure what changed between 6 months ago to now....but something has changed and not for the better. I felt a bit cheated paying $18 bucks for a sandwich (if you add avocado it's $3 extra) and get very little meat and eat mostly cold bread. I'm not certain I'll be back again and may start venturing away from the once beloved Port of sub. read more

They make a pretty good sub (I like the #10 chicken and provolone). Unfortunately the last two times I placed an order for pickup on their app, the sandwich was not ready at the stated pickup time. In fact, in both instances the staff hadn't even begun to make the sub when I arrived at the time given to me for pickup. In neither instance was the place busy, so I'm guessing staff were just not checking the incoming orders (and if it had been busy, presumably they could have given me a later pickup window). What is the point of having an app if customers are going to have to sit around waiting for their sandwiches to be made anyway? read more

I've never written a food review but this experience was special. I ordered a meatball maranera sandwich and a Ceasar salad. What I got was dry meatballs on bread with a lot of shredded parm and a shredded onion and tomato swimming in cezar dressing. When we took the sandwich back to be remade the new sandwich was soggy and wet and when I bit into it it felt like I had bitten into wet sand and it tasted of pepperocinni, which, is gross considering they don't come on this sandwich. I fear this place is what you see on kitchen nightmares and we will not be good back. So much for trying a new place. read more

First time visiting and I love the sandwiches. They have garlic parmesan bread that is delicious! There were three employees working. One in the back cleaning which I am assuming is the manager, and two making the sandwiches. A male and a female were working on making the sandwiches. The man was rude for no reason and didn't seem like he wanted to be there but the female was nice and was patient with us. The male employee working ruined the experience for me but the female definitely brightened up the mood for my husband and me. I would definitely come back but at a different time. read more

Another town, another Port of Subs. This location just happened to be on my way home from a shift. Not sure if it was just me, but it felt like all eyes were on me for a full 10 seconds: no joke! I was not even greeted when I walked in like I had been when visiting other locations. Then I went to the counter to order. I had seen an employee and what looked like a manager talking in the back. They knew I was there but no one came out to start my order for about 2 minutes. It was only until a crowd of 10 people came in at once that 3 workers came out from the back to start serving. Then, I know they were rushing because of the swarm that came in, but they could have been a little more considerate when handling me and my order. My sandwich looked a little haphazard with ingredients falling out. Overall, my meal was stll delicious, but their customer service needs a refresher course. read more

Oh my god! This is honestly the best sub place ever! I placed a catering order last minute and the staff was super fast with completing the order. The owners were so nice and friendly when I went to go pick up the order. They also gave a complimentary salad tray with my order. Everyone gave so many compliments for the food. Unfortunately, Port of Subs completely derailed my schedule today. First world struggle, I know. I ordered online (thinking I had cheated Murphy's Law for once), set my pick up time to 1:15p, and arrived at 1:10p or so to find my order had been forgotten about and placed on the side of the register. While the cashiers were politely apologetic and refunded my money (everyone who works there is pleasant) and I truly did understand how busy they were, this experience left me irritated as hell. Moral of my almost delectable narrative: don't order online unless you're ready to have to awkwardly interject an already busy, longish line of hungry customers only to find your sandwich has not even been birthed yet. (Also, I tried the Cheetos Chicken Fries at Burger King today. They were alright. The box they come in is cool.) read more

This review is specific to the catering option Port of Subs offers. I submitted my catering order the morning of the event (roughly 2 hours before I needed it) and was not disappointed! I ordered two platters for a party of approximately 30 people. I ordered the spectacular sub assortment and the wrap tray. I ordered both trays without any condiments because not everyone likes mustard or mayo and I wanted to make sure everyone ate. Also, because the spectacular sub assortment allows you to order up to 4 or 5 different types of sandwiches I was also able to order the vegetarian option for those who do not eat meat. Upon arriving to the store, two employees were prompt at providing me with my order. Not only was the presentation beautiful but they also asked if I needed any condiments, plates, napkins, or anything else. Also with my order they provided me with two containers, one including the shredded lettuce and the other including onions, tomatoes, and pickles (for free!!). They also separated the vegetarian option from the other trays so that there was no confusion and was easily accessible to those wanting that option. The two gentleman also walked out my order and placed it in my vehicle for me. Customer service was on point and they definitely went above and beyond! I received so many compliments on the presentation, quality, and the value of the order! I will definitely be ordering more from this location! read more
