I cannot say enough good things about this brewery in Charleston. If your looking for some tasty ales and talking beer get your arse here. Upon arrival we parked on the street and the lot was full, when we got inside the place was packed. Not a problem I had a beer inside my hand in two minutes and was high fiving one of the brewers seconds later quickness counts in my world. We tasted the rye, stout, Belgian, and the pale ale all cool names which I can't recall, hints that I had a fantastic time here! I really dig the designs on their shirts and merchandise which is not overly priced. Shirts and full growlers are about 15.00, magnets are a buck, and the stickers are free. You can pay cash or with a credit card here real simple stuff not rocket science. I ended my brewery tour of Charleston on a high note and will definitely be back to Frothy Beard sooner than later. My friends and I will enjoy all these wonderful growlers over a cookout and bonfire. SC rocks ! read more

Great place to grab a micro-brew. Small venue with very approachable brewers who love their work. These guys always seem to have a wildcard beer that is vastly different from the other local brewers. Last time I went in, it was a Peppermint Porter. Not my favorite thing but it was great to try different flavor profiles. I really enjoy their Gingerbier, fantastic brew that is really refreshing. Just dropped in here at about 3 o'clock on a Saturday. The parking lot was totally full, so we had to park on the street, no biggie. The brewery is in a little warehouse. This brewery is a good bit smaller than most of the other breweries in town. There is no air conditioning not abnormal in Charleston, but I really wish that would change since it's hot here 8 months out of the year. They did set up a big shop fan which helped some. I've wanted to go to Frothy Beard for awhile because I've seen some really creative beers come from them, but never had a chance to try one. When I saw they had a watermelon beer like 21st Amendment, and a key lime wheat I knew I had to go. I love a fruity beer call me a girlie girl whatever it cuts the funky beer taste. Both beers were super smooth, refreshing, and were true to their names. The Summer Summer Summer Lime with the nitro made it creamy like actual pie custard and had a nice hit of lime without being sour. The Melon Collie and the Infinite Seedless Watermelon Wheat tasted like a light wheat beer chased with fresh watermelon juice. They went down so smooth you'd have to really watch how fast you drank them. On a hot day like today mine was gone in 5 minutes, and I was taking my time lol. The great thing about this place is there's a lot of parking. The beer is subpar & nothing blew my hair back. Compared to a couple other places "up North," there is no comparison. Didn't try the pizza but it looked awesome. Wish I could review. If a band is playing, especially plugged in, don't think you'll be talking to the person next to you and have a conversation. Loud. What's up with the TV reception? Cheap out on the satellite or cable? Looks like they splice everything from some source. It's grainy and pixilated as all hell. "What game are we watching??" Self service all over the place. Seating, getting drinks & food, but they will bring you your food after you order it (I guess you get a number stick). I wanted to like this place more but I didn't. Awesome place for the whole family for lunch, dinner, anytime. Great for professional meetings, happy hour, or just hanging out. They have an open space, very clean, inside and outdoor spaces available. The outdoor spaces even have umbrellas for shade and fans. They offer various bar bites but are most famous for their pizza. You may know their pizza from the Zombie Bobs food truck. The slices are as big as your head and absolutely phenomenal. The kind you can fold in half and devour accordingly. They also have trivia on Thursday evenings. They even have a play nook for the kiddos. That's right-you can taste the brews while the kids entertain themselves. We just got back from vacation, but this was my favorite brewery I visited and Victorious Wolf my favorite beer. They had a play area for smaller kids, but My son had fun playing Nintendo games. A great place! The beer is always tasty and different and they're always happy to let you taste something if you're unsure about it. The pizza is amazing- the slices are as big as your head. I will say sometimes getting your food can be confusing. If they're busy the bartenders sometimes can't run the food right away and sometimes they can not see your number. But they're always very apologetic if it does take time and the food is so good I usually never mind. There is always plenty of parking too, which makes it that much easier to stop in for a quick drink or bite. read more

1st stop on the brews cruise we chartered over SPD weekend in Charleston. This nano-brewery doesn't have the name recognition to be the closer, but it's got some of the best beer in the area. Really interesting flavor combinations. A few other people mentioned the brew-house dog. He's adorable and loves cuddling up to be pet. That's about it for ambiance. This place is about good beer, not fine dining an elegant beer garden. So don't plan on spending all day there. If you're in the area and you're willing to go off the beaten path, then you should really consider this place. I wish these guys good luck in growing to be a major player in the micro brewing renaissance. read more

I did the Yelp checkin to get $2 off a flight of beer. I chose the Dominique Wilkins Reverse Dunkelweizen, Zingiber, Triple Sip IPA and It's Cucumber Thyme Wheat. I am from The Tampa Bay Area in Florida where there are over 75 breweries in the area. This is a big contender to my favorite brewery in Sarasota which is Calusa. Each of the beers I tried where very good. I could definitely taste the cucumber in the wheat beer and the taste of the ginger in the Zingiber was on point but the best was the Triple Sip IPA. Hazy and Hoppy and easy to drink. Also the service was fantastic and you have to order a slice of the Zombie Pizza. Don't be surprised at the size. When I say the slice of pizza is huge I mean it is HUGE!!!!!! read more

Located in the back half of a large warehouse type structure this understated place has delicious beers. A great spot! The pizza is good and GINORMOUS. The beer is good. It has progressively gotten better since opening over a year ago. Frothy Beard is right across the street from where we live, so it's a nice neighborhood spot to grab a slice and a beer. Our first few trips were not the best. Twice it took over 45 minutes to get a slice of pizza, with one of the two times, me never getting the pizza, however, it has gotten significantly better. I wish they had servers instead of having to wait in line at the bar to get a drink, but overall, it's a great spot and they seem to be ironing out the hiccups as they mature. read more

I had a groupon for this place and enjoyed every bit of it. I got cute mason jar for free as well. Most of their beers tasted really good. I sampled about 4 of them and overall was satisfied plus they're really potent so I was tipsy. The crowd was very chill and collective. This place even had some wrestling match going on that was good entertainment. I plan on coming back to get a jug filled up. I'm not even really a beer drinker but I will go here again. read more
