Staff is nice, knowledgeable and always checking on you. A few different selections that not everyone has as far as drink choices & menu options. They believe in clean eating & cooking. If you haven't heard of Tallow ask them about it! We had a few drinks & the Tallow fried Crispy Potatoes. Very tasty! Fried but not greasy, lots of flavor, and all the sauces are made in house. Coast is a staple in Old North Charleston, and I visited for the first time recently. It wasn't on my radar until a college friend invited me to meet up here on a Saturday. Coast is off the beaten path of Charleston area breweries- most of which are on the King Street Extension. It's a few miles away from Park Circle, so you will have to drive, but Coast has plenty of parking to go around. The outdoor area is beautiful and close to Riverfront Park of North Charleston. They have quite a few house beers on tap as well as other local selections, wine, and a few rather sample cocktails. I am cutting back on beer, so I had the non-alcoholic Dali Sofia blueberry kombucha, which is on tap. The beer-tenders and other staff were quite welcoming, and the interior is nice as well. Coast is certainly worth the drive if you're into craft breweries. read more

Okay, so I'm gonna break this down in several different areas so the four stars makes sense. Customer service...solid 4.5. They are very friendly and proactive in serving. Drinks...4 They were out of their "Coast Shandy" which was disappointing. I did a flight with 32/50 Kolsch, Boy King, Hopart, and Blackbeered. Blakbeered was my fav with hopart taking 2 place with flight, but 1st place with the IPAs. Food...4 My wife and I both got the grass fed burgers. She got the crispy potato side and I got the cheese curds. Potatoes and curds were on point! Burgers were VERY heavy on the sautéed onion, VERY light on the special sauce, but VERY big in portion size! So plenty to fill you up! I just wasn't crazy about how much onion was deployed on the burger. Atmosphere...4 It's very relaxed and laid back. Family friendly, with outside seating available. Clean ingredients...5 They're on point with being a healthy option! I liked the new experience. If I lived nearby, I would come more, but living closer to three other breweries makes the odds of my return a little slimmer. read more

Newly opened brewpub with Coast's beers and a smallish, but really good menu of food. They also have minutes wine and mixed drinks, including a few dessert cocktails if you're so inclined. The grass fed carpaccio is amazing, and a great deal at $16. Their grass fed beef hot dogs are also very good with good seasoning and just a hint of snap on the skin. Their potatoes are a great take on fries. Randomly crushed and fried to provide a mix of textures and flavor that is great. Haven't had their burger yet, but everyone raves about them. All for make from fresh, high quality ingredients. They have a nice indoor area and a covered deck for those that like to dine outside or bring their dogs. This was our first time in Coast and we will definitely return. The atmosphere is light and airy and the service is outstanding!! It's a family owned and run brewery and we really enjoyed sitting no at the bar. We tried several beers...the helles, hopart, and the guest tap edmunds sour. All were delicious! We also got the cheese curds and they were delicious!!! The ranch is a little different in the best way. You can also choose from blue cheese or Bloody Mary ketchup. They have a great indoor space that can accommodate large parties and an outdoor space that would be great in spring or fall! read more

Came here on a Friday night around 7:30 and it was quiet but the beer is so good!!!! The inside of this place is bright and the music playing was great. Bartender was friendly and there was just an overall positive vibe about this place. Lots of seating inside and outside, so people can pick what works best for them. We chose outside until it got a little cooler then we headed inside. There are 2 TVs I think, so they might play sports games if requested. We tried a few beers and ended up getting 2 four packs to bring home. Will be back for sure! Great for a nice night out on the deck with friends. Only downfall is there was no food. Looks like they have food trucks sometimes, but the only snacks on site was beef jerky (no go for the vegetarians out there). Not a whole lot of beer style options, but they are good beers! We had a fantastic beertender, and the atmosphere was so relaxed and inviting. Personally, the Black Beerd beers are not so different that you need to order a flight; the 2016 was less chocolatey than the 2021, but that's about it. My favorite spot to have a beer after work. Short but great draft list and their small plates are amazing and very affordable! This place deserves more credit for how fair the pricing is. The service is spot on with the same very friendly workers every time. An all around comfortable place to be with great vibes and even live music. Also the brewery is located in a beautiful spot a couple hundred feet away from the intracoastal with a nearby walking path over to riverfront park. Parking is beyond plentiful which is a huge bonus. Stopped here for the first time after eating aT the Charleston food truck festival. It's in a pretty cool location of the old navy shipyard. The building looks pretty run down but I think that's why I like it. Most of the seating is outside as I didn't see but one or two small tables inside. The weather was nice so sitting outside was great. There's plenty of room outside for kids to run around and play. I ordered their black beard barrel aged and it was fantastic! So bold and full of flavor. They dont have too many beers on tap but it's a good variety and also had to go six packs. I love supporting local bReweries so I'll be back! read more

Most authentic open-air brewery in Charleston. Probably the best, depending on what your tastes are. They don't over do it. There are 4-5 beers on draft. Always Hop Art (smooth IPA), Kolsch (lighter/crisp), and then seasonals. Their facebook page lists what is currently on tap. Personally my favorite is one of their rotating stouts called Blackbeerd. You can also get a real history tour of the craft beer in SC from Jamie, co-owner. Most breweries of late weren't around before SC had restrictive laws. In fact, Coast was a major force changing those laws, which have seen the huge boom. They have cornhole, disc golf putting green, and often times--food trucks. Also, bring some bug-spray if it's the season. read more

We ordered our beer and then we were told that we weren't allowed to be here with our dogs. We were directed to this sign. The guy who told us was really nice, but we were really disappointed. Coast beer is usually found on local taps at restaurants so visiting the brewery we found a it to be "rustic". The building is located on the former Navy base, inside a fenced in area. The interior has folding tables and chair, then outside a few picnic tables and folding chairs. Just not as inviting as I would like. The beer was good though, love the Kolsch and Hefeweizen. Both were crisp and drinkable. There were only 6 on tap, so limited choices. They appear to focus on distribution more, but when we were there a brew bus was there with customers buying beer to go. Two words: Hop Art. If you like IPA's this one by Coast is a must try, I was so stoked to see it now available in 6-packs. Additionally it is in a far out location but definitely a cool little spot to check out. I also, really enjoy the Dead Arm. They have a robust distribution arm in the state but the brewery and taproom itself is very much still a small operation. It doesn't boast the huge serving space that other new places in town feature--and I mean that as a compliment. They generally have about 8 brews on tap, served from like a retail counter, not a bar and there are a handful of picnic tables around the brewery and outside. While places like Tradesman, Frothy Beard, and Edmunds Oast have expanded into bigger and newer spaces (not knocking it--definitely recognize the necessity), it's nice that one of the Chas beer originals is still a charmingly low-key, unpretentious place to grab a beer. read more

This place is a nitty-gritty type of brewery. You won't find the hand-hewn reclaimed barnwood bar here, nor will you find corporate-sponsored painted murals. The bathroom is first-come-first-served and the "bar" looks like it can be wheeled to any corner of the room. It's a repurposed storage warehouse with no bells or whistles and it is PERFECT in a city full of hipster, up-and-coming breweries. You sit at folding tables in uncomfortable folding chairs and watch golf projected onto a white screen rather than being surrounded by multiple flat screens bigger than my living room wall. I truly hope they never change this venue (or not by much, anyway). The beer is great, the company is friendly, and you'll have a good time even when it's pouring outside. read more

A wonderful little brewery. I stopped in here on a beer tour which I am glad I took. I do not think I would have found this place on my own. Unlike San Diego, the different microbreweries welcome beer tours. They are not overrun yet by multiple groups. This was the smallest of the 4 I visited in the area. They do not have the biggest selection of beer but what they do offer is really good. It is a working brewery so you can walk around. The staff is friendly and you can get beer to go. They have a grassy area out front one can so one play some games or have a picnic during your visit. They do not serve food so I would recommend bring some if you like to munch when you drink. I work right down the street, and my boss is a big fan, so we have meetings here from time to time off the record. It's nice to have a foodtruck on Thursdays and Fridays when they have tastings but I hardly ever get the food. The beer is great. If you're a hop fan then you'll love most of their beers. I'm not a hop fan and yet I'm still a fan of their other beer they have great choices for all palettes. It's not a super convenient location but is also far enough away from touristy places that it's just the locals. But don't let the neighborhood scare you, it's near a business park so it's safe. read more

Yayyyy Coast! If you're a beer person and are visiting Charleston, this should be one of your stops - no question. It's all organic, the tasting room is super relaxed and spacious, and everyone who works here seems like they know what they're doing. PLUS - they do 64 oz. growler fills of every beer on tap. Unheard of. What I will call their single drawback is their lack of any air conditioned spaced (I'm sure they'd like that too) and the law on one case per person carry out. COAST beer is fantastic; I've had it in restaurants for years. However, I was not impressed with the taproom. They had five beers on tap but very minimal indoor seating--two tables and eight chairs. Guys at the bar/register area were kind and helpful. They did have other canned/bottled options available for purchase and consumption off of premises. The outside area was quiet, and there was plenty of parking. Also--the grounds are not dog-friendly. They may have been when other Yelpers reviewed, but they are not dog-friendly any longer. read more
