Cute little spot in the heart of Downtown! The weekend we visited was also Oktoberfest in the Courthouse Square so it was great to eat some hot churros while enjoying the music. This is my first but definitely not my last time coming here to Froyola. Although it is located in a small building and there isn't much variety (only four flavors), the choices they have are delightful. My choice of froyo was pomegranate fused with raspberry and French vanilla. I technically hate any type of sorbet, but fusion of two fruits did not upset my tastebuds. It was very fruity and the awesome part is that it's all probiotic. The assortment of toppings varies just like any other froyo place. They all seemed fresh. The lady who works there is also a delight. She was very friendly and adds to the atmosphere of this froyo spot. Right across from this shop is a boba place called Chatime. It is a one stop shop for any person looking for good froyo and boba drink. They have plenty of chairs and tables to dine or chill for a quick bite to eat. It's also a great location (diagonal from the movie theater and other food spots). This downtown area isn't crowded as much as other downtown areas. It is family, friend and pet friendly. I think it was a bit too mushy for my liking. Regarding the toppings, I was a bit disappointed with the original mochi topping in particular. Most places have mochi that is quite fluffy, but these were small and tasted like hard gummy bears, which is not great in mochi form. To my surprise, this tiny yogurt store by one of the Redwood City Court house's corner has been silently opened for months. Bright and clean setup, choice of flavors....It's a comfort retrieve sitting by the hallway watch surrounding lights and people walk across the square while licking the treat in this quiet evening, I bet the summer nights will be even better with cool breeze of zephyr. I tried it for the first time tonight during one of RWC's great downtown events and wonder why I didn't discover it earlier! I had the original tart, strawberry and chocolate. I was surposed that despite being non-fat, it was surprisingly creamy and satisfying. If you're a dark chocolate lover like me, then you'll be a fan of the chocolate made with our very own Ghiradelli. The service was very friendly, the froyo was fresh and healthy (low sugar, better taste than most other places) and the atmosphere is cute, in a glass pavillion on Courthouse Square. We were there last Sunday, 9/19 after dinner and not only were the 2 employees NOT helpful, but they just did not seem to want to be there and obviously have no regard for the owner's business. There was yogurt on the inside of the lids of the dry toppings (yuck) and the strawberries were mushed and looked old. The young guy that was working there should've been wearing a hat or a hairnet--this is a place that serves FOOD! Then, after telling the girl (yelling out over us) to tell him if he gets a text, he sits at the table next to us and puts his head down on the table! His gross hair was on the table and it was the only one available inside at the time! Other customers came in (2 groups) and promptly left as it must've looked like a homeless guy was passed out on the table in front the of TV! The girl never got up from her seat, her eyes were glued to her phone and seemingly didn't notice that there were customers or dirty counters, etc (at least the guy with all the hair sprayed the tables and wiped them clean before he laid his head down). Froyola is so good! I'm from San Jose and was in the area acting in a movie. The staff is so friendly. They made all of our ice creams look so nice & was not sloppy or rushed at all. The price is very fair for how much ice cream & toppings they give you & they even gave us a discount because my production manager bought so much from them for our whole group. It's always fresh and yummy.
