I really like the Sandwich Spot, I usually go to their Redwood City location. They have a larger menu and also more salad options. This San Carlos location is a lot smaller and limited in selection. The only salads they have were macaroni or potato salad, something drenched in creamy sauce. I order the number 8, the Carlmont with everything in it. My sandwich was drenched in sauce, it was dripping wet and very hard to eat. Probably had like 5 different sauces, I should have slipped their "everything" and just opted for the sauces exclusively in the sandwich. It tasted like a pickled sandwich, too many pickled things so the sandwich tasted sour, spicy, and very soggy. They also ran out of the wheat roll....and had I ordered this on slice bread I don't think the bread would have withheld the amount of sauce they put on this thing. read more

Big difference between the people working here and the people at somewhere more professional like starbucks. They close st 4pm on Friday not 5pm as stated in the yelp info. This is a tough corner location. There have been multiple owners over the years. Sandwiches are a tough business for a franchise model. Cost of Goods is often 50% and that makes it tough wo insanely high volume or a location near catering. Little Lucca in Burlingame does a better job of mixing in home made pastrami ,tritip and turkey vs. using the processed meats so they have a better profit margin and can offer a much better sandwich for the same 11$. $15.00 after 15% tip for sandwich and latte. Large sandwich; bread was stale probably from end of day business. Not a big deal. Extremely portion sizes like all Sandwich Spot locations; standard $10-$12 sandwich. No convenient parking. Inside hot, no AC. Probably a cost reduction step. Small interior; not a place where you can sit and eat. Good for delivery. Not sure of this is convenient for walk by traffic. Owner not present. Run by high school students. If the owner isn't there the business isn't run the same as with most HS students. They aren't the best at responding to customers. They need to live life first. Standard deli meat from one of the large vendors like boars head or one of the commercial vendors. I got spoiled by Marsha at Marsha's lunchbox. Their fresh roasted turkey and tritip is so much better than any of the stores which sell processed meats. Most of the standard sandwich places go with a philosophy of bigger is better so they give you a big piece of bread, usually a roll followed with some high calorie fat based spread like mayo or some spicy sauce, layer on a lot of veggie additions which helps the large appearance with some meat to give it flavor and a hunk of cheese. Lots of calories; keeps you full for 10-15$. Costs maybe $3-4 to produce. The local franchise chains position bigger at 2x the price; all about the same, from Spot to TOGOs to Specialties, etc.. the easiest/cheapest way to serve volume at $10.00 and minimize the cost of goods; less meat and more fillers = profit. read more

The people were so nice. The choices for sandwiches were awesome, so many to choose from and you can substitute items. Several side options only downside is the potato salad isn't house made. There were numerous chip options no baked when we were there ( late afternoon they may have sold out) Plenty of drink options including CBD OOH yeah almost forgot the sandwiches were so good! The sandwich was OK but you could do the same at Safeway for 70 bucks. $13 seems a little excessive. When I went to leave I discovered the one dollar Arizona ice tea is cost two dollars there. It's not the dollar as much as I am doubling the price just to gouge someone. When I made a joke about it the girl behind the counter who has too much make up and a little too curvy Took my money and as soon as the transaction was approved turned around and walked away without even acknowledging me or saying thank you she just rudely turned and walked away. As she walked away I called out goodbye and she just continued on even though she hurt me. What a terrible way to treat a customer especially a first time customer who will not be back. PRICES CAN VARY. There is an online menu with prices, and then there is a menu in the store location without any prices listed. We ordered a Triple Bogey and a Zamboni. Both have a $10.25 price online but we were charged $13.95 in the store. When questioned about it, the guy at the register said we will be charged more because we were paying paid with a credit card and further said how much more depends on what you order. When asked if that meant it was a percentage increase, he did not know. There were no signs indicating credit card payment would pay more. Seems prices are whatever they feel like that day. I know this is a family owned business and I have been happy buying sandwiches since before Covid, and we are only talking about $3.70 more per sandwich, but when I got the sandwich, I was disappointed at the meat to bread ratio. I really don't like writing reviews unless I've tried the food first, so this review is solely for the customer service. I walked in at 2:55p on a Saturday afternoon (per yelp info, they were open until 4p). I intended to place an order for 7 sandwiches. I tried calling the store a few times in advance but went to voicemail. I walked in and both employees looked at me with a strange face. I immediately felt awkward and said, "Hi".. Then the man who seemingly was the owner said, "I'm out of Dutch crunch... I'm closing in 4 minutes... I am out of almost everything." I simply turned and walked out. I usually go the the RWC location where the staff is AWESOME but was in the SC area. I now can only recommend the RWC sandwich spot based on my experience today. read more

Good food. Great menu selection. Friendly service. Sandwiches and smoothies. I had The Ace. Pastrami. Excellent quality. My daughter had the Double play was Turkey, prosciutto and avocado.
