Guanato's Snacks is a small Mexican drinks and snacks spot in Redwood City. We had a bit of communication issue at first, but it's ok, I just showed them photos and they got it right away. I ordered a mangonada and it was really yummy. It comes with mango ice cream, chamoy sauce, fresh mango on top and a tamarindo stick. Tasted sweet and sour and spicy at the same time but very addictive and super yummy. I really like the ice cream flavor. However, you gotta wait like 30 mins for the ice cream to melt a bit so you can mix everything together. Kinda long wait but worth it. After mixing, it taste way better and more balanced. Was craving a raspado and it was a hit. They have multiple flavors, and the large is $9.50, but it is a big portion. Their ice cream flavors are delicious, we've had mango and it's a must try. Other items that I have tried are tost-elote, strawberries and cream, bionico bowl and fruit. Honestly, all of these were delicious so I'm sure the ones I have not tried yet are just as great. Yes the items are more pricey than people selling by schools, etc but we have to remember they are paying for the location. Decided to post lunch sweet treat would be just a thing and wandered over here for some paletas, ice cream, shaved ice, and an agua fresca. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, letting some of the kids try a few flavors and patiently explaining all the different items on the menu. My agua fresca, half pineapple/half mango, was made to order. I watched the staff member pick the ripest pineapple and mango and slice everything up before blending. So refreshing and delicious! I checked on my Uber Eats come to find out that it got cancelled!!! You should inform your customers if it can't be delivered or it got cancelled. I got hungry during my lunch for my food. Wow, I haven't written a review since 2016! Girl wyd. As 2019 comes to a close, I've decided to get back in the game. These businesses deserve the recognition, it's the least I can do! Guanatos Snacks is a lovely local family business on Woodside road wedged between Ohana Express to the left and another local business and gas station to the right. You can park out on the street or on the mini shared lot in between. They specialize in amazing SNACKS- traditional delicious Mexican street favorites like Mexican ice cream with specialty flavors you can't find outside of Spanish stores/areas (like horchata, strawberries and cream, etc), elotes (corn on the cob or cup), raspados (basically a shaved ice treat with fruit, syrup, etc) - so many flavors and different kinds of other drinks like mangonada, etc! Fresh cut fruits of your choice, duro preparado (puffy chip thing with assorted savory toppings), chips, and many more. I basically grew up around these snacks and I was so happy to see this place open up near me. Hunting down the ever moving snacks guy on wheels is kinda hard. I have a local snack stand guy but he's all the way in Mountain View and the other ones in RWC are kinda out of the way so no bueno. There are two tables in the shop and a bench outside to enjoy your snacks or take it to go. Snack party at home amirite? They accept cash or card payments and have an assortment of canned drinks and other prepackaged candy/snacks besides the prepared ones. I go there mainly for my mango fix (slather that b with lime and tajin), sometimes another fruit if I'm feeling extra; elotes bc duh, I've tried their duritos (potato chips with lime), raspado- really enjoy their soursop one because it's so light and refreshing! Haven't tried the others yet. Sometimes the duro preparado when I want something more filling but still light. Clearly I love this place lol. The family that runs it are friendly and polite, and yes there's a bit of a wait sometimes especially if they have a line going but it's to be expected. The anticipation for treats is worth it. BUT I think you can call in your order if you're in a hurry (tip). Prices are affordable, $4 and up and the serving is nice and generous, the area is clean and bright, the menu simple and classic with photos. Please don't litter and clean up after yourselves guys. Service is good. The ladies who work here are friendly. I've only ordered bionico and the corn in a cup which were really good. The fruits were fresh for the bionico and the cream was delicious. I decided to give this place another try after last time that I came here a couple months ago before covid started I ordered pepinos locos and the cucumber was not fully ready in my taste buds. After that I picked up an order for my mom and the owners wife asked me where I had been and I said oh I took a break because last time I came here the pepinos were not so good in taste and she said oh no sorry to hear that, you should have called and told me. So just Recently I went to pick up some for my family after I was off from work on Saturday. It was a bad idea. As soon as I walked in the owners wife made eye contact with me and said a comment to her employees and each of them turned around and made it obvious that they were talking about me. One of the employees took my order and after she finished she started working on my order and the owners wife walked over to tell the employee working on my order something about me because they both looked up to look over at me and when we made eye contact they both looked back down immediately. The wife's owner then went over to her youngest son who was working behind the counter too on another couples order and mentioned something to him about me that she made him turn around to look at me. I can't believe that I took the time to come to this place to support their small business only to get made feel uncomfortable and basically get rude service and talked about throughout the employees. We really enjoyed the strawberries and cream, mangoneda, and the chicharon with all the toppings (sorry can't remember the name). The service is wonderful and it's clean. Definitely going back! Just to let you know I have been waiting to be able to post this up on Yelp. I have been looking for months and months and I couldn't find it and finally here it is. I have gone to Guanato's at least four or five times since they opened. I have to say that each time I have gone, it has been a 5-star experience. The people who work there are very nice and are very customer oriented. I have tried the ice cream (pecan praline and mocha fudge) and their Mexican snacks.
