Our family loves this mom and pop ice cream shop. Great service and great tasty custards and sweet treats. Prices are comparable to the Dairy Queen down the street. My only reason for the 4/5 stars is that it's hard to enjoy my ice cream in 100 degree weather -I wish it was shaded more, wish there were napkins that were more accessible because with my toddler, I'm constantly going up to the window for some napkins. What we swallowed: DRUMSTICK CONCRETE SHAKE: Rich, decadent, creamy frozen custard. It's like a super dense, super creamy cold and delicious vanilla malt. Add your deconstructed drumstick: peanuts, chocolate chips, and crushed sugar cones. Concrete 'cuz you spoon definitely stands up in it's cup. WINNER! LEMON SWIRL: This was like a super lemony icee. Really wish I could give this place a 5 star review. Drove over 2 hours from San Antonio to try this viral TikTok place. Owner seems so sweet but the staff working tonight were trash. Why is it that I have to wait for service for 5 minutes while all employees look at me constantly and they had a guy who was cleaning up outside help us. I work in food service and cannot believe the way they acted. I understand you are getting ready to close on a Friday night but wow how rude can you possibly be ? First let me say, the custard is amazing! By far the best I've had and this was a favorite for my family to take friends and family to when visiting. The staff has always been young, but always very friendly and gave great customer service. I was worried when they changed the name (possibly ownership) to Frozen Flamingo from Shakes that the quality wouldn't be the same, well I was happy to be wrong, the custard remained the same. Some of the old staff is still there, but the new staff there is less than desirable. We have been going there for years and ordering the same thing, every time. So when I took my brother who was visiting yesterday and again, ordered the same thing we always do, I was disappointed that they got two out of 4 orders wrong. While we were taking our order there happened to be a car fire on the 35 and in mid sentence, the cashier cut us off to tell everyone in the building about the fire and 3 employees felt it was more important to talk over us and lean out the window, talk amongst themselves and take pictures/video. Ok, whatever, that's annoying and rude but oh well. So when two items were wrong I didn't expect attitude when we brought it to their attention. The shorter girl with dark long hair was rude and condescending. Effort was made by one employee to fix my husbands order, but when I brought my daughters up to the window all I received was attitude. The custard is amazing, but if I'm not going to receive what I paid for and get snotty responses when I ask them to rectify, I won't be back. I wanted to try this place. I bought a bag from TooGoToGo. This app sell left over food that is still good at a discount. Otherwise good food would be thrown away. My reservation was 10p-11p. An emergency came up I couldn't go get my bag that night. I couldn't get a refund from the app since it was past the allotted time to request a refund. I called the store ask if it was ok to pick up the bag tomorrow. The person that answered basically saying she could help since it's through the app. We had to do what it said. My bag wasn't going to change from that night until the next day. It's locally owned business.I wanted try them be potentially a lifetime customer. So, you would figure that they would work with me. Then I recognize the voice on the phone. It was the owner. She has a bunch of tik tok videos. You figure the owner could help out and let me pick it up the next day. She wouldn't do it. I was told dishonest people have been scamming them out of the cost of the bag 4 dollars. I guess looking at reservation on my phone was too hard for them to look at the next day. Which by the way, can be found on your phone. You can access past orders and it will ask if you picked up the bag or not. For the owner of the company to be really naive about how this process works was shocking considering it's still selling your custard for your business. I would expect the owner to take charge and say " no problem come tomorrow". This is her business on this app selling her custard. So, two things happened. She wouldn't take responsibility of helping out. Go through the app of TooGoToGo I was told. Finally, I basically was accused of being a thief. My grand heist of trying to steal a 4 dollar bag of custard was fooled. It's only 4 dollars but it's the principal. I saw her responses from other people that complained. She wasn't helpful. That's ok. I will go to different custard shops most likely a national chain. That will give better customer service. read more

Great prices. They make cakes too, For a windy, chilly night, this place was busier than I expected. Both the window and drive thru were occupied, and customers occupied the patio tables enjoying their 'shookie" (ice cream cookie). This was my first time here and I ordered a Reese's cup concrete. It was good though I don't like my concretes overmixed where the fillings get pulverized. The staff of high school boys was capable and friendly, thanking us for our business. Stopped by on a Saturday night, 4/29, in the drive thru to get frozen drinks for my boyfriend and I. While the drinks were very good the customer service was very poor. They were discussing their pay and how one employee makes more than the others and that you have to be a shift lead to make x amount. While I'm not against discussing pay it felt very unprofessional to do it in front of customers. Not to mention they didn't ID me or my partner despite him being 21 and me being 22, this is one of the only places I've never been ID'd at and it felt wrong since we both look fairly young. I am also a server so I know how important it is to ID people. I might consider trying it again for the drinks but the customer service was next to nothing. read more

Yes. YES! This place is awesome. Best Frozen desserts you will find. I am a man of simple tastes, so I normally just get a vanilla shake with oreo cookies. My wife and kids order more complex creations, and in at least a dozen visits, we have yet to be disappointed. The flavor and creaminess of the shakes and concretes is intense. The place is staffed by local teens, and I have always found them to be prompt, attentive, and polite. The food is a little pricey, but totally worth it. I was part of the store opening crew of this location while I was in high school. It was a dangerous job to have if your watching your weight. Candy and custard all around! My two favorite things to get @ shakes is a "dunkum" , which I'm not sure is even on the menu any longer. It was strawberry (or other fruit flavor) icee with a scoop of custard dropped in. Sooo good during the hot summer months! But, the BEST thing they sell all year is the pumpkin custard! Its a seasonal flavor obviously. Usually from October to the star of the new year and its to die for! A lot of people don't know about it, since... the sales take a dip when the cooler weather rolls in. Wow...I've had frozen custard before but only on hot pie at restaurants. By the time it'd get to me, it was half melted, so I could never understand what the hype was about since it seemed like ice cream to me. Finally decided to check this place out to get the real custard experience. Mind blown...NOW I get what the hype is about. I've been to shakes many times over the years. Their ice cream and concretes are good, lots of choices. But the reason I give them one star is because of their service. A year or so ago my husbands family and I stopped for a treat. After halfway through our ice cream my (at the time) 4 year old niece needed to use the restroom. The staff was very rude about her using the restroom, and eventually my brother in law had to walk down the street to DQ in order for her to go. It was such a small and silly thing, but the way the staff acted was ridiculous. So a year later I decide to give them another shot this past Sunday night. Ice cream was good... the peach concrete was yummy! But again, the staff put a bad taste in my mouth. First thing that happened was my cousin was thirsty and wanted water. We already had a cup of water we brought from the pool, so I asked the guy behind the counter if he could fill it up in the sink. He charged me 25 cents!! So i paid the 25 cents, assuming that meant I was going to get a new glass of water, but nope, he just filled my cup with tap water. Next, at closing time, we were still enjoying our ice cream, caught up in conversation. Next thing we know all the lights are turned out on us! They could have atleast warned us so we could head to the car! I'm officially done with Shakes. I will keep my ice cream cravings from DQ or Sonic. read more

The girl working the drive through window at 9 in the evening on Saturday, April 10th, 2021 (if I knew her name I'd simply put that), was clearly stressed but to tell a customer that the reason you can't provide them the order they asked for is because you're too busy is not a valid excuse. I can't tell my customers where I work that the reason I can't deliver great service or correct orders is because our business establishment is too busy. Where I work, great service is delivered, every time, end of story; stressed and busy or not. At Shake's, My order wasn't what I asked for. In addition, I paid for a medium but received a small, by far, as the cup was nowhere near close to the size I requested but was, In fact, a small. I know this because I ordered a small for my wife which ended up actually being larger than the medium I ordered, lol. I usually enjoy Shake's, not anymore. Today I order and was given a shake with a hole in the side. Needless to say, custard was all over my car. I told the cashier it had a hole. And I need a wet rag to clean my car and clothes. He said ok, and returned with a replacement, no rag. I asked again and he gave me a napkin, at this point I was upset.
