I've been a couple of times with my boys, and we've loved it. My anniversary was last weekend and my husband and I decided to go to The Yard after dinner for dessert because my husband had never been. I had the caramel cheesecake milkshake and the husband had a fancy coffee drink. We had a great time! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was super fun. The only drawback is that, although the presentation is out of this world insta-worthy, it kind of creates a mess when you actually try to consume these fantastic creations. They do have a redeeming factor for this, though...they have 'clean up sinks' made specifically to fix the sticky mess off your glass and off your hands before you get back into your car to head home. My daughter ordered a milkshake called The Unicorn that cost $17.50. It was delicious and we will never, under any circumstances, be ordering another one. I had a vanilla malt and it was absolutely perfect in every way. My son requested "rainbow ice cream." He meant the Crazy Vanilla, which is rainbow colored, but they gave him Rainbow Sherbet, which he doesn't like. We want back up to the register to buy the correct thing but they replaced it for free, which I thought was very kind of them. The building was crowded when we went and loud, but it was too hot to eat outside so we sat at the bar and enjoyed the farmhouse decor. If I could give this place -10 stars, I absolutely would. Giving them even 1 star is generous for what they truly deserve. We were looking for a nice spot to enjoy some ice cream on a family Sunday night. I found this location nearby and decided to try it since the photos made the ice cream look great. I went with my husband, our 6-month-old baby, and my mom. From the moment we walked in, the experience was terrible. I went inside first to check out the flavors and place the order for myself and my mom. I kindly mentioned to the girl behind the counter that it was our first time visiting, and she immediately responded with a hostile, unfriendly attitude. Despite this, I placed my order. My husband went in after me to place his, and he came back saying the same girl didn't even ask what flavors he wanted in his banana split -- she just made it however she wanted. When our order was brought out to the patio, everything was already nearly melted. On top of that, my ice cream had the wrong flavors. I went back inside to let her know, and she got visibly annoyed. She grabbed the wrong scoop with her hand, yanked it out of the cone, threw it in the trash, and added a different flavor on top all with a horrible attitude, as if I wasn't even a paying customer. She then told me that " she had to close the order because I took too long to decided." I asked, "Why are you being so rude?" and then followed up by asking who the manager was. To my shock, she said she was the manager. I told her that if she's the manager, she seriously needs to work on her customer service and attitude and if she can't, someone else should take her place. People who are this disrespectful and emotionally unfit should not be in a management position. They're toxic and damaging to any business. If this is the example being set by the manager, I can only imagine how the rest of the staff feels working there. Hands down the worst experience we've had on a family outing. Do yourself a favor skip this place and go to McDonald's for ice cream instead. At least there, you'll get treated with basic respect and won't waste your money on melted ice cream and with bad energy. read more

This is every kids dream ice cream shop, seriously. I went with my daughter and both of us were left breathless by how amazing the ice cream selection was!!! We ended up ordering the Unicorn with birthday cake ice cream instead of cotton candy ice cream- OUT OF THIS WORLD. The whip cream had colored edges, sprinkles galore, cotton candy on the side, every detail was perfect. The staff was super friendly even when my daughter and her little friend were being sugar high crazy lol. I loved that they had a sink to wash out the jars for transport home! The jars run around $16, just buy that $1 lid at the counter because it'll come in handy on the way home. We did get some cookie dough and here's my thoughts- eat it in store because it's fluffy and delicious there. I put ours in the fridge when we got home and the texture really changed in a not so pleasant way. My only suggestion would be- please add some feature where the kids can work that sugar high out of their system. I came here today with Thing Two for #nationalicecreamday We ordered two items. Thing Two ordered two scopes of ice cream which included one scope of rainbow sherbet and one scope of cookie dough. She seemed to be a fan of the rainbow sherbet but not the cookie dough, *but I am* so, I ate it :) I ordered the Specialty Bowl; Cherry Key Limeade Bowl. I've had this item many times and it is my favorite of any of the offerings here. The concoction consists of Cherry Limeade ice cream with a side cup cake. The cupcake is not my favorite as its usually dry (I assume that's because its frozen and thawed for the consumer as opposed to freshly baked). However, I don't come here or to any Milkshake bar location for the cupcakes. Overall, this franchise provides consumers an opportunity to have some fun with a whimsical take on ice cream. Why do all the places I like have to be so dang pricey?! But this place is really good. We had a full on old fashioned sundae joint where I'm from and I can't for the life of me find anything similar to it. This is the closest that it gets. I like that the full on menu is online and they have one seasonal creations too. I especially love that they have nondairy options for my son who we're trying to figure out if he has a dairy sensitivity. He doesn't have to feel left out and he gets his own special ice cream. We take out of town guests here and come here on the rare occasions we have a night to spare extra time. The cheesecake creation was topped with an actual piece of cheesecake. Well isn't this place just fun! Besides the over the top milkshakes they have, all the ice cream looks amazing for just a simple treat. My mom got two scoops of the butter Scotch ice cream and said it was amazing but definitely could've just done the one scoop. My dad and I shared the September special that was a chocolate shake, chocolate chip cookie, chocolate cookie dough, brownie & a Twix (I think I didn't try it) with the rim of the cup dipped in chocolate rolled in chocolate sprinkles. Yes it was a chocolate overload but that's what we wanted. They have lots of fun options for the shakes AND you get to keep the mug. They have bags for you to wrap it up after your done eating since it'll still be a mess. I would've given this place 5 stars but it was a while before we were acknowledged. We didn't know what we wanted when we got there so we didn't expect immediate service but a "welcome in" at a minimum would've been nice from 1 of the 10 employees standing around. How can you not like a place that specializes in milkshakes? * * * Okay, they have some strange ideas about milkshakes. They want to sell you elaborate $15 milkshakes topped with a popsicle, a donut, sprinkles, brownie dough, a waffle, Fruity Pebbles, a chocolate mermaid tail and a slice of pepperoni pizza on top. They don't allow you to put fried chicken on top of any of the milkshakes. For that, I congratulate them on their restraint. * * * Frankly, you don't need to put an entire candy store on top of a milkshake to have a good milkshake. Ice cream, milk and syrup and you should be good to go. If you absolutely positively insist, they do have a BASIC milkshake that just contains the fundamentals. Basic sounds pretty good to me. And actually, the basics at the Yard are not that basic. The actual ice cream flavors are pretty elaborate. I don't remember the exact flavors because each description was pretty complicated. But the flavors were like Cappucino Butterscotch Ripple in a Butter Pecan base, Unicorn M and M in a strawberry base, Cinnamon Bun and Marshmallow Overload in a Banana base, Etc. Interestingly, nearly every flavor has a ripple going through it. When you drink the milkshake, the ripple tends to not mix with everything else and sits in sort of a clump in the bottom. I thought this would be a problem. It turns out to be pretty cool. You have a complicated tasty interesting milkshake. Then you have a flavor mass at the bottom that you have to harpoon with your straw. It is kind of like going whaling. Like Moby Dick, the flavor mass at the bottom puts up some major resistance. But you are bigger than the flavor mass. You are ultimately going to win. * * * I went with a "spartan" for the Yard, basic chocolate peanut butter milkshake. There is no such thing as a bad chocolate peanut butter milkshake. No one in human history has ever said "Drinking this chocolate peanut butter milkshake makes me sad". Ever, ever, ever. Drinking this particular chocolate peanut butter milkshake made me very happy. * * * I suspect the same thing is true of a Froot Loops milkshake with a Chocolate Easter Bunny on top, and green mint chip overloads coated in graham crackers, with mocha drizzle in a marshmallow dipped jar. So, If a Froot Loops milkshake with a Chocolate Easter Bunny on top, and green mint chip overloads coated in graham crackers with mocha drizzle in a marshmallow dipped jar is your dream Live The Dream! read more

I came here with my fam for a quick treat and had a great, quick experience! I was pleasantly surprised that they allow sampling because I've been to few places that haven't been doing so, which makes choosing a flavor difficult. I ordered a half pint cup with the Lemon and Raspberry Sorbet. I loved how tart the lemon was, but it was very very tart, so beware if you're not into that. The raspberry was good on its own, but perfect when paired with the lemon to add more sweetness. One thing I loved about how they serve ice cream is that they sort of mixed the two flavors rather than just 2 simple scoops. I was able to get both flavors throughout my experience rather than finishing one and then the other. Overall, I enjoyed my dessert! I've been to The Yard twice, both of which were very entertaining; The first time I came here was in April with my father, and it was wonderful; the ice cream was great (I had the Churr-All-I-Want IIRC), it was really funny to have the hilariously over stacked mason jar set in front of me. The second time came after a horrible date experience at an ice cream parlor in Killeen; we went to The Yard, and very much enjoyed it, If I had enjoyed the shock of getting my order the first time I went, I seriously enjoyed watching my girlfriend's shock at hers. As well as getting to listen to the various other customer's reactions. I ordered a far more conservative order the second time around (Cookie dough ice cream), whereas my girlfriend ordered the Butter Beer shake. The interior decoration of the yard is great. A large mural sits above the ice cream bar you order from, there are quite a few seating options depending on what you prefer. The seats inside range from a few tables of a half booth, bar style seats facing both out and in, to regular tables. The seats outside are nice, once again ranging between a couple types around a patio. The interior has a distant view of downtown Georgetown, being able to see the historic courthouse from where we sat. Very expensive! I was looking for a small malt milkshake. Their small milkshake is $8.75. The same size malt milkshake at Baskin Robbins is about $4.50. They add an extra charge for the malt. The ice cream wasn't particularly good. I asked for a cup of water. The water smelled funny too. My GF ordered two scoops of vanilla and asked for hot fudge and nuts. Instead of hot fudge, they used Hershey's chocolate syrup. The nuts were like dust. It was $7.75. Not must else to say about this place. The staff was friendly but young.
