Pescado Relleno
Lee S.

My rating is more like 3.5. The seafood was very tasty. I think the sauce could have been served hotter, but was also tasty. The one thing that I didn't like was the tip situation. They add the tip to the bill, which I often don't mind because it's less than what I usually give. But what I thought was not cool... after the card is swiped, and given the receipt to sign, it shows "total" then "tip" is left blank (but you already tipped). So if you're not paying attention you will tip again. So just review the bill before paying.

Flavorful, Fried Chopped Fish Fillet and Yuca Fries. Tasty Onion Salad

Mixed seafood civiche, the best!!!!!
Sellina Y.

This review is long over-due. I've been a loyal customer since I first moved to NJ and it has been over three years now. I have only ordered their mixed seafood civiche and their baked ring cookies. After having many civiche dishes from other restaurants, Fruit Punch Cafe is in first place. Ingredients in my favorite civiche: fresh fish, octopus, squids, shrimps, red onion, corn (with huge kernels), I piece of 2x2 sweet potatoe, I piece of 2x2 yuca, and maybe lemon or lime juice makes this perfect civiche mix. I always order with a mild degree of spice, but it always ends up spicy... Just the way I like it. I've ordered no spice before, but that just means there is less juice...not the same bc I have my civiche with rice n that calls for some sauce. I'll be returning again very soon :) for pick up, like always.

Located in Bergerline ave, only 20 mnts from 8th ave and 42ndst in New York Port Authority Bus terminal, just take a Shuttle and it will drop you of in West New York New Jersey right across the Hudson River. I been coming here for years with my family and friends all the way from Queens,New York. It's a Family Oriented restaurant, with great choices of food at a very reasonable prices, Its Peruvian Cuisine at it's best. I order the Shrimp Soup, a mixture of Vegetables, eggs, rice, dice potsto and Shrimp with a special blend of sauce. I top it of with some Peruvian Spice, delicious and healthy, they do have many other choices of dishes which is very typical of Peruvian culture, come out here and try it out. Also order the Chibcha drink a purple color delicious Peruvian drink all at a good price just within the budget. The place is very nice, clean and cute decor, it's Family Oriented and friendly, the waitresses friendly, bilingual and excellent service. Drop by check it out Peruvian food at it's best don't let the Café part fool you it's a restaurant.

Looks good, but tasteless

In the enormous amount of restaurants on Bergenline Ave. in West New York, I still am hoping to find a decent place with good food. Unfortunately I was disappointed again. This seems to be a Peruvian restaurant with many flashing lights adorning the windows. Several tables, which were all empty. That should have been my clue, but no, I sat down to eat. I ordered Peruvian style baked chicken with rice and salad which includes a bowl of soup. The chicken soup was flavorless. Rice and bones and some carrots with no seasoning. The baked chicken and white rice with salad was dreadful. Rubber chicken leg that you can't cut with a knife. Hard old rice and a small salad. I couldn't put it down. Left the soup and half of the rice with the unedible rubber chicken. What a disappointment. The only thing I enjoyed was the green sauce, this is the reason I gave them one star.

It was delicious

I was first introduced to this place when the owner allowed the youth committee to eat on the house for a special event. Ever since then, I've fell in love with Peruvian food! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu; it's surely cooked from the heart. The owner is so sweet! Seafood, meats, sauces...yum I can go for some right now. Here's a picture of my take-out of chaufa. The large can feed up to for people and it costs less than $20. Tell me that's not a steal!

Delicious Food. Lomo Saltado and ChiCha Morada. Halal Meat. No pig meat. Great Red and Green sauces for your pica needs. So many things to try!

Ordered 5 jaleas, found a hair in one. Most of it was just fried pieces of nothing! all different in size. Some had yuca others didn't. BAD!

My cousin (god we love her) lives in the building next door so for the past 2 years Haven has been…read moreher haunt. Now I have a thing when people say "it's just next door" or "it's right down the street." What did George Dubya say? Fool me once and it's shame on you, fool me twice and the shame is mine for getting us into a war based on lies and greed?" Yeah something like that. Anyways, I typically don't believe when people say something is close so whenever I visit her we just order in delivery rather than motivate (ie put on a bra) and go out. But dang it this is literally. Right. Next. Door. As in I can sit on the deck outside of the restaurant and look in her living room. Smh. I say all that to say IVE BEEN MISSING OUT!! Her bday was this weekend so she booked a large table for family and friends. I was relieved to see they had valet. Parking is atrocious in this development so to only pay $10 to be 10 feet from the door was awesome. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff know her well and treated her as a valued guest. Here's the rundown: We went for BRUNCH. They have a prix fixe for $41 of most of the brunch items and it includes 2 Bellini, 2 mimosas, or 2 Bloody Marys. Good right? Welp what you don't know is that their cocktail menu is incredible so to heck with the prix fixe. We got mimosas at home!! Between the 10 of us we got cocktails, appetizers, entrees, desserts, coffee. Highlights: -Service was spectacular. Wesley was On It! By the time we finished eating there was another party of 10+ seated right behind us that he was servicing. I hope he enjoys the reward$ of his hard work! Make it rain on em Wesley! -Fat friendly seating. No arms, solid chairs, comfortable cushions. We were there for 4 hours and my booty was never sore. -Food. We tore it up and it was all delicious. My half of the table had the farm house breakfast sando, the fried chicken sando, French omelette, huevo rancheros. We shared the crab hush puppies, wings, calamari, goat cheese salad, and blueberry pancakes. I was nosey and saw that some of my other table mates ordered the skirt steak and eggs and the short rib. -Drinks. I know my husband loves mango so I suggested he get the smoked mango drink. I didn't know it came with theatrics. Dinner and a show?! Btw by the time our table was done almost everyone had ordered one. Lychee martini, Paloma, old fashioned, midnight espresso. Also all very good! -The View. Our party was too large to sit outside but we did sit right at the floor to ceiling windows. In between birthday wishes and food comas we watched the boats, jet skis, and undulating waves of the Hudson. Previous posters are correct - the place is pricey. But high key the people who live in that area are already paying a premium for everything else sooooo. Now, I DONT live in that area lmao so this will be a rarer treat for me. But I was happy to celebrate my cousin's birthday in a place that she loves. Awesome experience - I look forward to returning! 10/10 would put on a bra for this and walk downstairs lol

TBH, I don't really remember the rest of the meal. i think dessert was something sugary, dunno... The menu may be the same, but the food is not. Every dish we ordered lacked the quality and consistency that made this restaurant stand out. The flavors were flat, the seasoning was inconsistent, several dishes arrived lukewarm, and the presentation looked rushed. Nothing had the attention to detail or care that I remembered. It genuinely feels like the kitchen is being run differently. While the menu hasn't changed, the execution certainly has. The recipes may be the same on paper, but the food tastes completely different. The balance of flavors, the quality of the ingredients, and the consistency that once made this place special just aren't there anymore. You can tell the person leading the kitchen is no longer the same because the food no longer reflects the standards this restaurant used to be known for. For the prices they're charging, I expected so much better. Instead, I left disappointed and wondering what happened to a restaurant I used to recommend to everyone. Unfortunately, this visit convinced me not to come back. I sincerely hope they can get back to the level of quality they once had, but until then, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Very spacious restaurant with lots of seatings. We were seated immediately on a Friday night. We all ordered the combo/mix-and-match and the portions were huge!! Loved the seaweed oyster soup and grilled mackerel. Others ordered the LA galbi which was probably one of the best we've had. So flavorful. Seafood pancake was also good. Prices were very reasonable. Staff were very friendly. Service was attentive and fast. Our Korean friend said their kimchi was one of the best she has had. No wonder the restaurant actually sells it in a jar. Only complaint is it's tiny parking in the front but street parking is also available. This restaurant definitely has become one of our favorites.

The broth was decent but not great; it leans more on the herbal side and isn't as spicy as other places. Oyster, Seaweed & Beef Soup (3/5): Packed with seaweed, but only came with about 5 oysters and very little beef. The broth had a strong, decent seafood flavor. Fried Spanish Squid (3/5): This wasn't on the menu, but I was excited they could make it since I'd seen photos from 7 months ago. However, it was baby squid rather than the body of the squid. It also felt a bit overcooked, lacking that fresh, chewy texture
