One of my favorite peruvian places. Not many are as tasty and authentic as El Eslabon. Tastes like I'm back at my parents house with some good home cooking. Affordable and great portion sizes! The servers are always so nice and welcoming. Definitely recommend!! Peruvian food is the best.

El Eslabon in West New York, NJ. Do you like your ceviche picante? I do! El Eslabon has the most authentic Peruvian food in the NJ area! The service is amazing and everyone is so friendly! It's BYOB and has plenty of seating! Leche de tigre is yum! Insta: @thehungrysw

Everything was amazing portions are huge, very fresh and each "plate" had a different delicious taste. Will be definitely come again.

Second time posting a review because this time I had the privilege of actually sitting down to eat at El Eslabón. I went with a party of 6 adults and 1 baby. We each ordered different entrees which were delicious. I can't remember all the names of the different plates but so far everything we have ordered, as stated in my previous review, have been delicious. This is a BYOB place, which is great!. They provide glasses for champagne and bottle openers for beer. You will not be disappointed with this gem. Oh and I forgot the most important part besides the food of course, the service here is wonderful. Go eat at El Eslabón!

Second time here. And it doesn't disappoint ... so delicious. We had the causa, seco de carne and fish saltado. We wanted to try the Peruvian donuts but they weren't available. Will be back!

Went for lunch on a weekday, restaurant wasn't busy. Service was a little slow. The food was good , potions were very large. The fish chaufa lacked flavor , the pesto pasta with steak was good. 3.5 rating I will be back to try out their other items

Food was delish! We each had one of the lunch specials, came with a tasty fish soup, and the main courses with rice and beans. $26 for three, very reasonable. The waitresses were very attentive and friendly. Overall, no complaints.

Excellent ceviche! I've tried different types and this is my favorite place! Although I don't live nearby, I always make the trip when I'm in the mood for ceviche. My other favorites: yuca a la huancaina, pescado relleno, sopa de polo, pargo frito, tacu tacu con bistec and ceviche eslabón.

Great food and great customer service! The food came out fairly quickly. Will absolutely return when I'm in the area again

Amazing chaufa rice on the right, an okay tallarin con carne on the left.

4.5 stars for excellent Peruvian food. We had been craving it for a while, and for the past year+ when we tried other restaurants we hadn't been able to find favorite dishes like causa rellena. Based on Yelp reviews, we made our way to El Eslabon, a 30 minute ride. We thought it had outdoor seating, but it didn't, so we sat far in the corner as far from others as possible for distancing. The restaurant was mostly empty on a mid-afternoon Sunday but filled up as we left. Service was friendly and efficient. No liquor license, so we only had a pitcher of chicha morada, yum. We started with a large portion of ceviche mixta, with octopus, shrimp, and fish. Good taste and quality of seafood. We also found - finally! - causa rellena. We had it with chicken, which was the best version of causa rellena I've ever had. We hadn't eaten all day and planned to bring leftovers home, so three entrees seemed right, even though the waiter noted "that's a lot of food!" The chaufa rice, with chicken and beef, was awesomely tasty. Why is Peruvian fried rice so damn good? We also had the chupe de camarones, a tasty and hearty shrimp stew with a cream base. Lots of shrimp, some potatoes, and a boiled egg, and a large portion that was perfect for a winter day. Our last entree was tallarin de saltado, fried spaghetti (green from pesto, maybe?) with a thin steak on top. Our least favorite was the tallarin, I've had it better before, so this was underwhelming. All other dishes were excellent and Peruvian food is always so good, with a unique blend of flavors and traditions. El Eslabon is humble and unfancy, with nice Peruvian themed murals. Service was friendly and food arrived quickly. If you're not in a hurry, eat a lot and then take a short, 1.5 block walk down 60th to a lovely little West New York city park with spectacular NYC skyline views. It's a perfect way to walk off a meal and NYC and the Hudson River will take your breath away. El Eslabon was worth the drive and our craving was satisfied!

It's definitely up my alley! It gave the feel of being in Miami on a waterfront property. The Pisces in me had a ball! 1. Being by the Hudson River 2. Great view of Manhattan Skyline 3. Awesome seafood & selections 4. Great customer service 5. To top it off, creating great memories with the bestie You can't go wrong with any of their selections. Honestly, their menu does little to no justice in depicting their specialties. I really love that their selections are limited. In my opinion, it allows room to perfect their crafts. Room for improvements: A small suggestion for the lobster croquettes, I could not taste the lobster; however, my friend said she did. I also jokingly told my friend that the only thing missing from this restaurant is a restroom attendant serving me warm towels lol. The restroom also had a vibe to it with dimmed lighting and reusable washcloths. I already told bestie that when I visit again, "this will be our spot." Check it them out!

Now I have a thing when people say "it's just next door" or "it's right down the street." What did George Dubya say? Fool me once and it's shame on you, fool me twice and the shame is mine for getting us into a war based on lies and greed?" Yeah something like that. Anyways, I typically don't believe when people say something is close so whenever I visit her we just order in delivery rather than motivate (ie put on a bra) and go out. But dang it this is literally. Right. Next. Door. As in I can sit on the deck outside of the restaurant and look in her living room. Smh. I say all that to say IVE BEEN MISSING OUT!! Her bday was this weekend so she booked a large table for family and friends. I was relieved to see they had valet. Parking is atrocious in this development so to only pay $10 to be 10 feet from the door was awesome. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff know her well and treated her as a valued guest. Here's the rundown: We went for BRUNCH. They have a prix fixe for $41 of most of the brunch items and it includes 2 Bellini, 2 mimosas, or 2 Bloody Marys. Good right? Welp what you don't know is that their cocktail menu is incredible so to heck with the prix fixe. We got mimosas at home!! Between the 10 of us we got cocktails, appetizers, entrees, desserts, coffee. Highlights: -Service was spectacular. Wesley was On It! By the time we finished eating there was another party of 10+ seated right behind us that he was servicing. I hope he enjoys the reward$ of his hard work! Make it rain on em Wesley! -Fat friendly seating. No arms, solid chairs, comfortable cushions. We were there for 4 hours and my booty was never sore. -Food. We tore it up and it was all delicious. My half of the table had the farm house breakfast sando, the fried chicken sando, French omelette, huevo rancheros. We shared the crab hush puppies, wings, calamari, goat cheese salad, and blueberry pancakes. I was nosey and saw that some of my other table mates ordered the skirt steak and eggs and the short rib. -Drinks. I know my husband loves mango so I suggested he get the smoked mango drink. I didn't know it came with theatrics. Dinner and a show?! Btw by the time our table was done almost everyone had ordered one. Lychee martini, Paloma, old fashioned, midnight espresso. Also all very good! -The View. Our party was too large to sit outside but we did sit right at the floor to ceiling windows. In between birthday wishes and food comas we watched the boats, jet skis, and undulating waves of the Hudson. Previous posters are correct - the place is pricey. But high key the people who live in that area are already paying a premium for everything else sooooo. Now, I DONT live in that area lmao so this will be a rarer treat for me. But I was happy to celebrate my cousin's birthday in a place that she loves. Awesome experience - I look forward to returning! 10/10 would put on a bra for this and walk downstairs lol

I wish she had told us this sooner, as we had to place a new order for my in-laws while we were almost done with our own food. strange that they were out of snow crab legs and dungeness crab so early in the evening and with so few customers. also the restaurant is freezing cold, dingy, and dark, which adds to the over all unpleasant dining experience. definitely skip this place!

The guac was good but could use a bit more salt, i wish they had chiccarons as chips instead of tortillas but the chips were great so wasn't a big issue. overall though expensive for some pretty average guac in my opinion. the seabass crudo was great, i loved the sauce and the mango went great with it. Super fresh, super tasty. Unfortunately the tacos were a mess, when it arrived the tortillas were so soggy that they were just coming apart, the meat was also falling off and overall the presentation was horrendous. the tacos weren't balanced as well, there were some with too much meat and then some with basically only cheese. overall flavor was not birria im typically use to but it was solid. honestly these tacos are probably the worst tacos i've ever had, for $20 it's a travesty. overall for a place nearby i'd come to get some drinks and the crudo and esquite because those were fantastic. but i'll pass on their tacos hard.
