I can't love this place but I can't hate it. I am a cali-dreaming girl that came from San Diego with a love for Acai bowls and fresh fruit smoothies. I had been stalking this place since before it opened and cant say that I am inclined to come back again and again but it wasnt bad! Prices are steep for what they charge here. Yes I get they use all fresh fruit etc, but you could make the same thing at home for way cheaper (but thats too much effort). I have gotten both the acai and some of the smoothies, however, I dont know that they are worth the $11. Right in City Center so they do have a good location. Can only talk about the avocado toast as I ordered it ahead of time while staying at a nearby hotel. It was quoted 5 minutes and by the time I got down there it was ready. Fruitive juices for the win. The first time I had Fruitive was when I bought their beets juices from the Dupont Circle farmer's market. I LOVED it and freaked out when I heard they had a location near me. While I really like the idea of Fruitive, I'm more of a fan of their juices than the other items they offer. I tried their tacos and the southwest grill wrap-- but they didn't seem for me. Maybe the acai bowl would be good. But really, the juices are where it's at for me. They're pricey- you're looking at $13 for a juice jar- but they're filling and delicious. I could drink half in the morning and the other half for lunch. Sometimes they'll have some discounted because they're about to pass their expiration date-- so you know they're always fresh. read more

these are without a doubt the worst acai bowls i have ever had the displeasure of tasting. for $14.25 (a ridiculously expensive price for an acai bowl- i live in manhattan which is not exactly know for being cheap and our bowls max out at $12 including tax) you get to eat an icy, flavorless, watery mixture with some afterthoughts of fruit places on top. i purchased the antioxidant bowl. it was literally ice. when i put my spoon in the bowl the base (which should be firm and sweet because there should be a banana/dates/other berries in there) melted and i was left with literal water. my friend got the maca bowl and wow! it had a pitaya base and it just tasted like sh*t. like at least my bowl didn't taste like anything, hers tasted actively terrible, like grainy water. it was $14.25. we ate everything because it was so expensive but felt unsatisfied, and frankly, scammed afterwards. my boyfriend got the antioxidant bowl but nutfree. his bowl was watery as well but at least it tasted okay. and by okay, i mean it had some semblance of flavor, probably because they couldn't add any nut milk since he has a nut allergy and we're forced to add more apple juice to compensate. they also left out the granola because of nuts, but didn't add more fruit toppings to compensate or even try and make the bowl look nice. they pretty much just slopped some fruit on top. fruitive's bowls look nice but taste either like nothing, or horrible. they are wildly overpriced and frankly the business should be ashamed that they feel like they can charge for these at all. read more

Simply put, this place is healthy plant-based goodness. My only complaints with this place are that it's on the expensive side, parking can be a pain (typical DC) and sometimes I wish the food had a bit more seasoning, but I guess that's where the healthy comes in. But, even after all of that, this place still gets 4 stars because their Tuscan Kale Wrap and Avocado Toast are amazing! Overall, this is a cute, hip, healthy spot that is a must try. read more

I was excited to visit this place , their menu seemed great. Ordered the All Greens and had to return it it was absolutely disgusting. Tasted like a half blended salad with chunks and it had been sitting in the fridge before serving so it wasn't made to go even tho they sure took their time to make it look like they just made it. If you're going to serve something like this make sure it is blended or juiced and that it actually tastes something to be worth $12. Instead they have 6 fridges 10 percent full of juices nobody wants instead of giving out customers a place to sit.... bad use of high real estate. Maybe use one fridge instead??? Furthermore, this place rubbed me the wrong way, the employees aren't friendly and looked shocked when I asked for a spoon, a spoon!!!, to eat my smoothie bowl. My sister and I went together and waited an additional 20 minutes to get a seat (not together) at the bar, because we didn't want to go outside on a rainy day... smoothie bowl, melted. Overall a regrettable experience. Ordered an ABC waffle with added berries. I was told the waffle iron needed to heat up and that it would take 10 minutes. Fine. So I stand and wait, and from my viewpoint I can see in the kitchen. I keep watching as employees play with the waffle. It's clearly sticking to either side of the iron (not connected in the middle) and stuck on both sides. I watch as they scrape it off, and add cooking oil and continue to flip the waffle and toy with it for about 20 minutes until I ask if the waffle machine is working and got a rude response from an employee in a disgruntled tone: "She said it would be a while." Fine. I keep waiting. Eventually the waffle is peeled out of the iron and I watch as the employee puts it on a plate and tries to cut it. The employee cannot, with a professional kitchen knife, cut the waffle. Eventually, it gets awkwardly folded and placed in a container. I receive the waffle with about 4 banana coins, a light sprinkle of cocoa nibs, and no berries. I ask for the berries I paid an additional $1 to add. I get a condiment cup full of chopped berries. Finally, I look around for a place to sit. There's no where. I attempt to eat the waffle. Can't cut it. Eventually rip into it with my hands. The inside is undone, and the top and bottom of waffle are clearly separated. The outsides of the waffle are burnt, and so oily that the container beneath it is turning transparent. I try to make the best of it, but after about 3 bites of attempting to gnaw away at this oily burnt yet uncooked rock, I decide that I didn't pay $13 to be this disappointed, and for the first time in all of my 27 years, I ask for a refund for my food. The lady behind the counter was polite (it was pretty apparent, even visually, that the waffle was a hot mess and inedible), and gave me the refund and apologized. Hence the two stars instead of one. But overall, this experience took about an hour, and left me disappointed and hungry. Perhaps I should have ordered something else, but let's just say, I'm in no rush to return. read more

Amazing acai!! I got the PB NO J. It was a wonderful blend of flavors; the strawberries and bananas were fresh; the acai blend was creamy. The ingredients they chose were soooooo tasty- what an amazing mix of nuts and fruits! I am used to eating the Acai in Brazil and I was so happy to find a place in DC that I can go to! The size of the dish was filling; I could've shared it with another person. I will Definitely be back to try that dish again! First time visiting the DC location. I've visited locations in VA multiple times. Food was turned out REALLY fast, almost too fast; it didn't seem as fresh as I'm used to at the other locations. Temperature of my Early Riser wrap had some colder elements that I wasn't used to at other locations. Bottled Juice was so delish! Would definitely return if I were in the area. We went for dinner today and we had All green cold press juice. I juice a lot at home and the test of this juice was watered down. I don't believe it was pure juice. We also had the Avo portobello which was light on the seasoning and all three collard tacos on the menu and the Tusan was the best. The outdoor seating area was nice because the weather was perfect. My feedback would be For the cold press juice, I asked when it was made and the nice person helping us said today and the date on the jar which is usually the last day to drink it was 7/24 so it will be in the fridge for 7 days if not used up. Which would make the nutritional value of the juice very low at the end. It would be great if u can decrease this shell life to get the best nutritional value out of the product customers buy and provide fresher juices like 3day shelf life . And also please pay attention in the quality as well because it tasted watered down. Over all it was great to have a vegan fresh food close by and I will return again to taste rest of the menu. Today I have the avocado toast (always amazing) and the "brighten up" juice. The avocado toast is awesome. I use to get it when I lived at city center and continue to walk over there form work time to time. It's the greatest breakfast or snack. Loaded with avocados! The Brighten up juice includes green apples, beets, lemon and ginger. It was also delicious and it did give me some great energy for my afternoon slump. However, $14 for a juice??? 4REAL? That's kind of INSANE! Also, you do get $1 back if you return the bottles -- but it equally grosses me out that I'm drinking out of a reused bottle. I know it shouldn't -- but for $14 I want my own clean never before uses bottle. Nonetheless, this place is still awesome. read more

Moral of the story this place needs a whole new staff and some passion to make "tasty" food not lifeless crap. I hate to do this, because I'm a huge supporter of Plant based restaurants. Went on to ordering the southwest wrap. Quite expensive I thought but when it came out it was big so no worries. Took it to go at my hotel. Food was very bland. I'm glad it didn't have a bunch of oil or salt but def little seasonings if any. No spice or anything. What I would have done for some sriracha. 2nd experience: After my workout I came by to grab a smoothie. The selections mostly had basic ingredients but the prices were really high. Still, needed a post work out smoothie. I said hello to the guy at the register, he looked at me confused and I laughed. I asked what smoothie would be higher in protein. He didn't know. I grabbed the "Fit" and added protein and flax seed. Almost 18$. Never paid that much for a smoothie in my life. Really hoped it would be delicious. Instead it was bland. Very little flavor and was left incredibly disappointed. Hope this place gets bought out by someone with passion or just closes down. Your a disgrace to the Whole Food Plant Based movement and there's no room for you. Get your stuff together or get out of the way. read more

this place is amazing! its not like any other "organic" "healthy" "juice pressed" place I've been. it has everything that I enjoy and love for a good meal/snack in one place. the location is PRIME and the interior is GORGEOUS. packaging is designed well too. there are not a lot of seating, so its not really like a cafe/restaurant, but definitely very easy to pick up your juices on the side in the mini fridges, or order your smoothies/bowls/toasts to go. i highly recommend getting the fresh pressed juices (which add a $1 for the glass bottles). definitely want to try the bowls/avocado toast/smoothies next time! please expand to other areas (but at the same time, stay local because its a gem and I don't want others to know about y'all :P) read more

I could have ordered so many things on their menu! I came with a friend one Sunday afternoon for lunch after working out (we wanted to keep up the healthy habits)! I ordered the tuscan kale wrap, and she ordered coconut colada drink and avocado toast. Everything was delicious! She really enjoyed the drink (I had a sip and can say that it was great, and I'm not even the biggest smoothie/juice girl). She loved the avocado toast, although I did not try it. The tuscan kale wrap was excellent, but could have used a bit more sauce (I got some of the carrot ginger dressing on the side, and it was fabulous :) ). I was quite hungry, and the wrap filled me up. There are not too many seats, but we were able to find a spot (it's a pretty quick place, so people eat and get up quickly). A lot of people get the food to go also, so not much seating is required. The atmosphere is very trendy/cool. I hope to be back to try more of the menu! read more

Fruitive has a great concept and pretty tasty food but the service was pretty awful. Like, bad... My partner and I ate here after arriving in DC for a long weekend. We were hungry and had walked a mile in 10 degree weather. We're from GA so this was tough. This has nothing to do with Fruitive, just giving you a bit of a story. Anyway, the location is tiny and the only seating is bar style- probably about 8-10 seats. I get the impression that this is a grab and go type of spot. No big deal, we were able to get a seat in the window nonetheless. So, since this was my first time here and some lady had laid her coat over the stack of menu's- I had questions. The lady at the counter didn't feel like answering my questions and said "hang on, I'm doing something". She was rude AF. Anyway, given the level of hangry I had reached, we stayed and ordered and the food was pretty legit. I ordered the Early Riser Breakfast Wrap. It was made with a whole wheat tortilla and filled with quinoa, black beans, smoked mushrooms, cashew cheese, and other flavorful stuff. It was super satisfying and flavorful. My partner ordered collard tacos, which also looked great. The menu at Fruitive consists of wraps, smoothies, bowls, toasts, etc. All the good types of healthful food I love to eat. I would definitely stop in again if I lived in DC but they need to get their customer service situation together to get more than 3 stars. read more

I was fairly impressed with what I got here! I needed a snack to tide me over between meals and decided to stop by here. I'm nowhere close to being a vegan, but figured the food would be light. I got a coconut curry soup with a vegetable slaw, and it was delicious!! Creamy, hearty, tangy, sweet, mildly spicy, sour, savory - all the deep flavors you'd expect from a coconut curry soup. The vegetables gave it a good crunch and mix of textures (with the slaw but also cooked carrots). It actually filled me up quite a bit, in spite of being a small soup and having no meat or carbs in it! I'd be happy to have it again (even without any meat!). Also tried the gluten free waffles which are Insta worthy, but are very dry and could use a bit more toppings. Really, really wanted to love it, but I'm not sure I'll be back. I so wanted to give the place a higher score but the only reason I can't because this and restaurants like this are starting to become mundane. Healthy selections, great selection on the menu but I'm looking for flavor to separate them from the rest. Customer service was 5 star, cleanliness was A-1 but my pallet is craving flavor damn it!
