We were staying at the Madison Hotel. Sweet Leaf was just across the street, so it was perfect for us. I appreciated their salad choices, especially their Greek Roots and Spicy Avocado. Also, they offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. It was lunchtime when we visited, and even though it was busy, we were able to get a table, and the line moved quickly.

oh my gosh. The seasonal cranberry sandwich was life changing. This place is 500x better than Sweet Green!!! The sandwich was so fresh, flavorful, and quick on my lunch break. Great sandwich shop and good service!

With its wide selection of fresh ingredients for salads, grain bowls, and sandwiches, Sweet Leaf is the perfect spot for a healthy and convenient weekday lunch. Similar to other fast-casual salad places like Sweetgreen or Chopt, you can either choose from their chef-curated selections or build your own. A few favorites from their curated menu are the Tofu Tango (basically a vegetarian take on a harvest bowl with roasted tofu, sweet potatoes, quinoa, romaine, kale, apples, goat cheese, and a balsamic vinaigrette) and the Salmon + Wild Farro Bowl (replacing the farro with quinoa if you're gluten-free). They have a decent selection of vegetarian mains, including their roasted tofu and baked falafel. Their falafel is by no means traditional, as it has a much softer outer shell, but it's a tasty plant-based addition to your bowl. I also love adding their roasted vegetables (zucchini, yellow squash, red peppers) and, if available, roasted brussel sprouts with pear. If you're looking for a side to pair with your new salad or grain bowl or sandwich, Sweet Leaf has a decent selection of chips and baked goodies (mostly different variations of brownies and cookies), as well as warm soups and fresh smoothies. Just like the rest of their menu, you can either choose from a curated selection of smoothies or make your own concoction. I'm a big fan of their Berry Blanco (blueberries, coconut, granola) and Green Cure (strawberry, avocado, kale). Their smoothies are on the sweeter end, which I didn't love, but they're still delicious and a great mid-day pick-me-up! With its wide selection of bowls, sandwiches, and snacks, as well as its downtown DC location, Sweet Leaf is a convenient spot to drop by and pick up lunch in the middle of the workday. The service is friendly and efficient, and you can also order online to make your pick-up process a bit quicker (and, if you're anything like me, so you don't have to feel bad about being indecisive). They do have a couple of tables inside, as well as one or two outside, but it's generally pretty crowded and loud.

This is a small, casual spot that's great for picking up lunch on a weekday. In my view, a great independent alternative to Sweetgreen or Chopt (the price is comparable). They have salads, sandwiches, soups, and breakfast as well. Smoothies, chips, and dessert are on the menu too. Today I got the tofu tango salad without cheese which was tasty, and a sizable portion. The staff were quick and efficient too! I do wish they had more veg and vegan options--all of their menu is easily customizable but as listed, the options are limited.

I was staying across the street in The Madison and decided to go for breakfast at Sweet Leaf. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and it was hands down one of the best I have ever had. They replaced the bacon for some avocado and my total cost was $8. I would highly recommend this spot. Beats the average breakfast at my hotel for $30.

I love having this spot near my office. It has really exceeded expectations for a quick lunch or a smoothie. The salads and bowls are always very fresh and well balanced and there are plenty of options to choose from. It definitely gets busy at lunch time, but the staff is efficient and you can also order ahead to skip the line.

Delicious! 10/10 I ate here probably 4 or 5 times over the course of my stay at the Madison Hotel. The food is fresh, the smoothies are delicious and the staff were very helpful.

Every single time I eat a salad here, I think "this is the best salad I've tasted." Sweetleaf offers a wide selection of fresh fruits, veggies, meats, grains, and dressings for guests to customize salads to their liking, in addition to excellent soups, juices (their fresh OJ rocks), and cookies. I often order using the app (allows me to earn discounts and avoid the lunch rush from 12-2 pm) and my salads are waiting for me on the counter. It can be difficult to find a seat during peak times, so I often take my meals to go. The staff is friendly and efficient, especially when I order late. If the shop is out of some of my selected items, the staff often calls me to suggest substitutions. They're very accommodating of dietary preferences.

I felt like it was going to be not filling in the beginning, but was actually quite filling and had good meat depth in the pita. They pitas are made in house, so small imperfections make it more original. Tried the pita, the labneh, the Zaatar Croissant and the Roselle/Malabar tea. The tea was my favorite. Very refreshing, with a hint of spiciness. The pita was huge; each weighed about ~6oz so one piece is generally enough for one meal. It was freshly baked and very fluffy and relatively thicker than the pitas in most restaurants. The labneh was just normal. The Zaatar Croissant was stuffed with lots of labneh and coated in Zaatar. The Zaatar smelled amazingly but did not have much taste. The labneh went well with the croissant. In short, it is an interesting cafe but not a must-visit place if you are traveling in DC -- even if you are a fan of Middle Eastern food like me:)
